The new management that took over during the holidays has been a night and day difference. They've already made the store feel more open and inviting. The owner always greets you with a smile and is very knowledgeable about everything in the store. Their selection is really great for a neighborhood store. The new owner JJ just changed the whole experience here. He's currently changing everything, bringing in new product, and best of all, DROPPING ALL THE PRICES! I was looking for a whisky and he was able to guide me to exactly what I was looking for so he's very knowledgeable in the business. My new favorite liquor store for sure. read more

This place has just been retained by new management, JJ, and let me tell you, the environment and vibe in this place is NIGHT AND DAY. I come into this spot every day, and it always felt like someone had died from the moment I entered, to the moment I left. Busy or slow, the atmosphere was not the best, especially on early mornings when I'm already feeling like s***. JJ has resuscitated the entire store's environment . Super cool guy, great customer service and he is actually kind and social (but also knows when to give you space on those crappy mornings haha.) Excited to see this place back on the up and up, and after coming here for years, this new ownership is exactly what this spot needed. I have been trying to get a refund for the past three days. I tried to return my purchase 15 minutes after I first bought it. I was told that they closed 30 minutes early and come the next day so I did and apparently I was too late. They said to come in anytime today before 11am... Now I was too late again and had just missed the owner so they took down my information. The manager said that the owner would be back, but when I went to go check back in later in the day. The woman that did my original purchase said I was too early and come AGAIN tm at 10:30am. She was the only one that attempted to call the owner, which I was thankful for, but alas, he never picked up the ONE phone call that was made. Let's see if the owner actually does show up tomorrow. Edit: I checked in earlier than I was supposed to today (the next day) and finally got a call back. After four days of people telling me that I can get my full refund back as long as I had my receipt (by the way the receipt isn't itemized), the owner said I couldn't. Instead I could only get store credit. Why would I want to support them after this? False promises? The crazy up charge on all of the items. As a customer, stay clear of here. I made an account just to make this review. Just a helpful suggestion to the owner: make your policies known and train your staff to know them. read more

Store is currently under new ownership and Management. New owner JJ has big plans and ambitions for the place. With patience and opportunity the store can and will thrive under JJ. I walked into the liquor store and the lady there was very disrespectful as usual. I asked her why she was charging me bag fees when she picks up my items rang the up and then last minute wants she wants to charge me. One minute she doesn't charge for bags the next minute she does it's insane. I questioned her on it and she said ma'am fuck you. I was verbally assaulted in front of a mother Customer as she proceeded to act hostile. I left and tried call the store back to reach a manager or the owner. As she is blocking and forwarding all my calls. I will be reporting this to OSHA and the Federal Business Bureau. No worker will verbally attack anyone using profound language. It used to be a great store a few years ago, now most of the workers have a real snotty attitude, One plays her omp pa pa music extra loud to drive the customers away, The other acts like it is a big chore to cash a $5 lottery ticket, I just go across the street from now on where the people is way nicer and prices are way lower also read more

Had a bad experience here, I wanted to purchase a Stone IPA ruination but the brew date was over 5 months old, I asked the guy at the front if they had fresher beer and he told me beer was still good, I decided to purchase a stout Sin Tax but little to my surprise after I had finished half the bottle I found a nasty surprise, so gross. Never returning to this location, staff stocks old beer, also pretty pricey. read more

Poor selection and shady business practices. This place is not very well stocked. It has a selection of cheap beer and wine at prices higher than local grocery and gas stations. What really gets me is that they over charged me on already over priced beer. The last time I was there, I selected a six-pack for $8.99. Tax for this should be $0.67 and CRV is another$ 0.30. Thus, the total should be $10.07. The problem is that I was charged $10.40 and when I presented a debit card, I was charged an additional fee for that. Needless to say, I will not be back. read more

The owner is the rudest shopkeeper in Goleta. I went to buy a newspaper there and said 'hi' and asked him how he was doing and he just stood there and glared at me. As I was counting out exact change he told me that I was taking too long, but no one was behind me at that point. Then another customer got behind me and the owner said that I took too long to buy the paper so it was no longer for sale. I looked at him incredulously, and so did the customer behind me. So the customer behind me asked if HE could buy the paper, and the owner refused and started to argue with him! A third customer came into the store and got in line and realized that something was happening at the register and wanted to know what was going on, so the first guy behind me told him that the owner refused to sell either me or him the paper, so the third guy got another paper from the rack and brought it to the register and the owner sold him that paper. After the third customer bought the paper he gave the paper to me, and I turned to leave the store with the paper. As I was leaving, the owner threw a handful of pennies at me. I will not go back, even if it were the last liquor store in all of Goleta. read more

Customer Service is definitely the top attribute to this place. Not only when walking in the door does the cashier ask you how your day is going, but after having a conversation with him you actually feel like he wants to help you with what your looking for. The place has a new owner who works about 15 hours and in my opinion he deserves a lot more customers for the way he really grinds out the day. The choices are extremely abundant as well and for a local liquor store the prices are actually decent. read more
