there's lots of cool alcohol choices. I give them that but the service is absolutely terrible. The man who help me at the front was an absolute asshole. My card wasn't working because I had just signed out of my iCloud so I had to re-sign in and he told me that, if I couldn't get my card ready, he wasn't gonna ring me up again. From the minute I walked in he was being completely rude to me. This was my first time ever coming here and I never wanna come back because of the way this guy treated me. When I got my card ready he ignored me and I asked him if he could ring me up please and he said all right if you're ready in a sarcastic tone. After rang me up , I asked him if he was the manager bc the only send allowed to treat people like that would be the business owner he told me he "wasn't the manager, if he was, he wouldn't be there on a Sunday night", For the dude who had this interaction with me. If you see this message, I hope you go find another job and stop being an asshole to people. I literally came in with a good attitude. I usually don't let these type of people get me down, but this guy was extremely rude and he just continued to be rude throughout this whole experience. I shop here for beer. I'm a big craft beer fan and always on the lookout for new types to try as well as my old favorites. Keg'n'Bottle's has plenty of both. The selection impressed me from the first time I walked in. Really, it was better than I expected for the tiny college eating/drinking/shopping/services area that is Isla Vista, even knowing there would be a large number of beer aficionados here. There is an entire aisle of refrigerator cases stocked with four- and six-packs of beer, and another aisle is half cold case, half unrefrigerated beer in cans and mostly large-format bottles. The breadth of brewing companies and styles presents beers from many countries and likely has something for every palate. I see a few one-star reviews and I can't speak to the experiences those people had. I can say that I have never felt I was treated rudely. Perhaps this is because I'm a graduate student, though that really shouldn't have anything to do with it. I also haven't had cause to ask any questions about selection, because I let the beers give me all the info I need. But I do make smalltalk with the employees while at the register, and it's always been fine. There's also an impressively large selection of other types of liquors, liqueurs, and mixers, and some snacks as well. I've seen quite a few interesting looking bottles I'd be interested in trying, if I had more time to drink (grad student) and more money (yeah, grad student). I hope this store survives the Covid-19 pandemic. For those who stay in IV, drinking may be a pretty appealing activity, so I expect it will. read more

I am BEYOND disappointed with this establishment. I was beside myself when my grandfather, a war HERO, was completely disregarded by the people 'working' at this so called 'liquor store'. My grandfather (Stewart), was just looking to pick up some refreshments for his wife's Birthday hullabaloo, but was horrified by the sight of a rodent scurrying around the store. When he reported his findings to the 'cashier', he was met with grief, anguish and contempt. The seemingly harmless cashier with a smug look on his face spit on my grandfather, and told him to leave 'his store' (as if he was the owner !?!?!?). I Can't believe this store is still open after what I witnessed this past Saturday the cashier (Hispanic male) was completely drugged. I stood in line for almost 20 minutes while the cashier mumbled to the customers just take whatever you want the cash register isn't working. Really great selection of all different kinds of more kinds from Florida ceiling than many places have on offer... Usually friendly and helpful staff, open late and different sale prices on everything you can imagine. Got some nice recommendations on some higher-priced whiskeys from one of the older guys who work there and I've also had some really excellent sulfate free hard siders that come in a four pack in the refrigerated section when you enter to the left and back along the wall, And I highly recommend it for anyone who has sensitivities to preservatives and alcohol OK sulfites for anything similar as it really helps prevent the discomfort rashes etc. associated with having drinks that are not sulfate free... Very pleased that they have the service and selection to ride anything at all of that nature as it again they're very hard to find. In the heart of IV, Keg N Bottle (KnB) has served as the place to go for a nice alcohol run when other liquor stores have closed and/or none of us has a car to go to Albertson's and Costco. When my friends and I do end up going to KnB, we are intoxicated and literally walking really fast/running there before the clock strikes 12 LOL They have a large selection of alcohol behind the checkout counter and they range from average to cheap prices. Just be prepared to show ID (friends too) and usually wait in a short to long line to pay (everyone in IV gets their alcoholic goods here lol). read more

There are very few times I wish I was a giant: -When I'm at a packed concert. -When I'm trying to change certain light bulbs. -When I'm at Keg N Bottle. I'm sure there are more instances, but the last one takes the cake. This store is an alcoholic's dreamland. Top-shelf booze (pun totally intended) lines the perimeter of the store. Everywhere you look, there's booze; it's like a BevMo shoved into a tiny store. They have aisles of beer and wine, refrigerated champagne and beer, and hard liquor (of varying sizes) that's up above and beyond your reach. I almost put a crick in my neck trying to decipher the Scotch section. Luckily, the staff's all really friendly and more than willing to climb the (rickety) ladder and grab whichever bottle you want. read more

Smack dab in the middle of IV is Keg N Bottle, it used to be a mini market but it is straight up a liquor store now. It has an amazing selection of craft beer and a whole lot of different spirits. This place can seriously compete or beat Bev Mo in beers and spirits (but not wine). I'd venture to guess that 80% of the liquors they carry have never been tried by either UCSB or SBCC students that live in IV. I'm sure most are sticking to the tried and true of handles of Bacardi or Popov, instead of a $500 bottle of Japanese Whisky. I'm not sure why they stock so many kinds, seeing as most students aren't that rich, but I guess there's always the 1% among students as well. The selection here cannot be beat in IV let alone Goleta. The amount of alcohol here is mind boggling. The foreign and specialty brews are something to be tried. I brew my own beer so I know what I am talking about when it comes to their selection. The shop is definitely run down and often times I've found half-filled shelves or a variety of products mixed together that don't belong; it's almost like they were literally thrown onto the shelves. It was completely flat to the point where my friends and I had to buy 30 racks to continue the party because no one would touch the keg. Terrible manager. Im active duty military stationed out of state. So i was in SB visiting a friend and super excited to drink and hang out with him so i went to this place to get my drinks. I go to checkout and the manager takes my ID and tells me it is fake. This wasn't a big deal because i have an out of state ID and it wouldn't be the first time it was looked at funny. I then went on for 5 mins explaining to him I'm active duty military and I live out of state and how hard it is to get an ID from your home state when you dont live there anymore so it would be hard to replace. The manager then called me a fucking liar to my face and told me he would call the cops. So i told him that was fine you can waste their time and emergency services on this if he would like. He then fake called them and after waiting about 10 mins I just left cause it wasn't worth the argument. Great job supporting the troops and making sure the few weeks a year they get off is nice. If i was the owner of this store i would definitely fire this manager he is not good with customers and tried to start a fight with me twice in front of multiple people. Not a good look! read more

Most extensive selection of beers and spirits I've ever seen. So full there are things covered in dust at all angles and you can literally find anything you're looking for. It's not the cheapest but it's definitely the best choice. The staff are very helpful and will climb up to grab whatever you want. Came to SB from Santa Monica for a weekend and never wanted to leave this store. A better selection of craft beers than I could find in one place in SanMo. All collected in one spot. I just couldn't be expected to choose quickly. But then I found cans of Kilkenny. But they were in special packs of Guinness samplers. I only wanted the Kilkenny. The store clerk came up with the idea of breaking up the packs and putting one together of just Kilkenny. Instant hero. This is the best place in the Santa Barbara/Goleta/Isla Vista area to buy craft beer. Their selection is vastly more extensive than any other store, private or corporate in the area. All of my favorite high quality, somewhat pricey beers are $1-2 cheaper than anywhere else too!!! read more
