Service is excellent : fast, friendly and knowledgable. Food was great: Great tasting, very fresh and piping hot! Menu selection: robust but not overwhelming like most oriental menus. Multilingual support including menus always nice for visitors. Setting: Indoor was clean, organized and furnished well. Outdoor is located in the rear where they make the most of a small section (about 10 tables worth) of the parking area between the buildings. I uploaded a couple of photos. I will certainly come again and recommend for those who want original Vietnamese food.

    No.77: Gà cà ry

I came here with a group of fellow Yelpers for dinner and left very happy. We had a reservation, but I am not sure that would have been necessary as the place was rather empty of patrons when I arrived at 6.30 pm. More people were trickling in over the course of the evening though so Mai Viên seems to do well in terms of business overall. After all of our group of 10 had arrived, we started with ordering food. I decided on the Summer Rolls as a starter as well Gà cà ry (a yellow curry dish with chicken and vegetables) as a main. The Summer Rolls were fine although I was not fond of the mint leaves (but that was I really my fault as I had not noticed them in the description). The Gà cà ry blew me away though. The dish was so flavorful - I absolutely loved it. It came with a bowl of rice, but since the curry was a decent size and contained pieces of sweet potatoe, I didn't use more than a couple of spoon fulls but rather ate it as is. lol My only complaint (and the reason why I am not giving 5 stars) is the service. While it was reasonably quick and efficient, our main server seemed rather grumpy and gave out a vibe as if we were bothering him. Maybe he had an off-day or something, but it kind of annoyed me. Nonetheless, I will definitely return and can't wait to try some of the dishes that my fellow Yelpers had ordered since they looked equally amazing as mine! :)

    Lovely rice noodle soup!

My boyfriend and I both had duck, he had a duck noodle soup and I had a coconut-based curry duck with veggies and rice and both were amazing!

However, the menu was more a thai-vietnamese hybrid with lots of deliciously spiced coconut milk curries. They did have appetizer soups - I proceeded to order the V4 along with the M4 on their lunch menu. The soup (2,50€) was incredible and my favorite part of the meal. I could taste every ingredient individually in a sublimely harmonious blend from each sip. The cilantro, pineapple, shrimp, coconut milk - all present and delicious. The M4 (7€) was the spicy beef w/vegetables and served with a side of rice. Despite being what I thought would be a thai coconut curry, the spices used were unique and different in a great way. It was spicy as advertised and a very comforting meal. I will definitely be back!

She was sweet, patient , and spoke English as well as Vietnamese. We sat in the garden area which is in the back of the restaurant. Which was nice because it was quiet and the peaceful. We ordered goi cuon and banh xeo to start, both were freshly made. The goi cuon sauce is made the traditional way on the stove top and it was served warm. The rice paper wrapper was soft, pliable, and didn't crack open anywhere. The filling of fresh mint, bean sprouts, lettuce, pork, and shrimp was pure perfection. We enjoyed it so much we ordered a seconding order. The Banh Xeo was piping hot when it came to the table, I was worried it would be soggy as it looked a bit thicker than I am used to. Boy was I judging a book by its cover, the banh xeo was crunchy and crisp throughout. I do wish it was served with some fresh lettuce to wrap the banh xeo in and dip it into the nuoc mam but I inhaled it without the lettuce. It was filled with fresh bean sprouts, pork, and shrimp. The crepe itself had bits of green onion and had great flavor. The nuoc mam was fresh as it was a light amber color, not too sweet and not to salty with just the right amount of spicy. I highly recommend both of these for starters. Main courses: Bo xao Bun Cha Goi, it arrived to the table in all its deliciousness. Tender pieces of marinated beef with the chewy bun. The fresh veggies added to the lightness of the dish. My husband added some hot sauce but I could have eaten just was it was. Pho Bo was fragrant, broth was light in color( you want that because it means the broth is fresh and cooked properly). I was impress they had tai and brisket in the pho. The bean sprouts, onions, and basil are at the bottom of the bowl so make sure to mix it up before eating it. This bowl of pho was also served with a lime which is the correct citrus to eat with pho and a small dish of chili sauce and the hoisin. I enjoyed my pho down the the last drops of broth which I never do. To send the meal I got a bag of fresh shrimp chips Togo. I do with they had the proper soup spoon for the pho but I think it's normal for restaurants in Germany not to have them so I may have to pack my own. We will be back with the kids and I have a feeling this will be a regular place for us. Thank you for a great food experience.

Where to even start with this one?…read more Unique location, great setting, friendly staff, tasty food, and a bit of fusion makes this quite the find in an area filled with Mediterranean restaurants. This restaurant is best approached on foot, to work up an appetite. Right across the street from a sightly park of greens, this restaurant is very much a sight for sore eyes(and hungry tummies), and very specifically Vietnamese--with some fantastic fusion. The interior was decorated with a lot of vietnamese style decor which immediately reminded me of fancy vietnamese restaurant. Beware the flies--which a traditionally a neighbor to vietnamese restaurants--that are attracted to the strong scents of vietnamese food. Staff was friendly and speak some vietnamese if you are into that. Both my girlfriend and I ordered a beef based dish--mine being a more traditional dish and hers a clever fusion--both ended up being very delicious. I ordered the Bo La Lot(beef wrapped in betel leaves with vermicelli) and the other, a Banh Bao Burger(burger wrapped in traditional vietnamese "buns"). The beef was delicious( even compared to the quality of vietnamese food back in California specifically). The Bo La Lot came only with 4 pieces sadly [priced accordingly] and mostly vermicelli--btw the traditional vietnamese sauce nouc mam is on point(with a decent amount of chili). The banh bao burger had a yummy patty and came with some sweet potato fries and amazing spicy dipping sauce of its own. We also ordered a Banh Bao to go. It was made half of just buns but taste wise did taste like a traditional Banh Bao I'd recommend any newcomers, tourists alike!
