I think the Yelp map is wrong. I ended up at this location but it was called Doner Istanbul.
Clean, Bright restaurant. Friendly service.
I am a Lahmacun (aka Turkish Pizza) afficionado. I travel all over Europe and everywhere I go I seek out lahmacun.
Near the beginning of the year I came in around 7pm and ordered Lahmacun. I was happy because the meat stick looked nice and crispy and i saw him shearing off some prime slices. If you know Lahmacun, then you know the bread/dough is important. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the way it was heated.
In my experience, the dough is generally pre made. That isn't usually a problem. In most cases, the maker heats the dough up first either in pizza type oven or folded in half on a panini type press. Then the meat and toppings are put in and the Turkish Pizza is rolled up in foil.
Not here. Only after the Lahmacun was wrapped in foil did the nice man put it on the panini grill to warm it up. In stead of having a slightly charry crunch with a little chew, The dough was a lot chewy. Think: soft tortilla.
Overall the flavor was good but the condiments were a tad on the tangy side.
Still, I would go back. You can check my other review for similar cuisine nearby. read more
