The instructors at Main Street Martial Arts are incredible role models who have helped my son channel his abundant energy in positive ways. He has become stronger, more focused, and significantly more respectful. The improvement in his behavior and self-discipline has carried over into all areas of his life. This is a great discipline for all ages! My 13 year old son has been training at Main Street Martial Arts for a little over a year now and he loves it! After years of competitive boys gymnastics we decided it was time to try something new. Taekwondo has been a wonderful transition, still offering a constructive mind-body challenge, and a better fit overall for our family. The studio is spacious, family-friendly, has a positive community atmosphere and very dedicated staff. (Background: I came to Main Street Martial Arts because I was traveling in the Bay Area for three weeks and wanted somewhere to train while I was away from my home studio. I participated in Integrated Fighting System (IFS) classes and absolutely *loved* them. I've done two years and counting of krav maga (as well as a few months of jiu jitsu and many years of taekwondo when I was a kid), but IFS might be my favorite martial art I've ever done. IFS takes the practicality and efficiency that I love about krav maga further, improves on that. I found that Main Street Martial Arts had the two things to make a great martial arts studio: an exceptional fighting system and an excellent way of teaching it.) All the instructors are really proficient, personable, and very helpful. The atmosphere makes it a fun place to train -- great people as well as great teachers. I was there less than a month and I was heartbroken when I had to leave. Highly recommend this studio. It's a special place -- high quality training, fantastic people, dedicated but no-ego atmosphere for people of all skill levels, and team of instructors that make you both feel at home and ready to push yourself to get better. Absolutely love this place. Thought maybe my 5 yr old granddaughter would be too young to benefit from classes here but that is absolutely not the case. The instructor and his assistants at the Mon. & Wed. 3:30 pm classes are absolutely superb with the young kids and beginners. They follow social distancing guidelines like it's second nature and work with and include everyone!! So glad we found this studio because in today's restructured & restricted world she really loves coming here for some disciplined fun. read more

Lance may be a great instructor but don't ever pick your child up late or he will unleash fury and rage at you with no mercy. Although I apologized with sincerity (hello juggling parents), he made up his mind with such quick harshness and unwillingness to talk or be reasonable. He immediately kicked my son out of the program, threatened to call the police to take custody of my son, and dismissed us with a wave of a hand. I didn't see any principles of respect that he preaches. read more

Master Christ is awesome with kids and is a superb mentor. He makes exercising and staying fit fun! My son looks forward to every class where he has learned a lot - not just about self-defense and sport Taekwondo, but honor, trust, respect, leadership and self-confidence. In addition, scholastic accomplishments are encouraged and openly recognized. Where my son works out at another Taekwondo studio in Napa as well, he enjoys Main Street Martial Arts because of the cardio drills, leadership opportunities, and tight skill training with competitive Palgwe and Taeguk pumsae options (eight trigram forms). He feels that he has developed a special bond with Master Christ and various students which motivates him to be at his best and have fun. Where the classes here can be quite large, it's amazing how Master Christ knows every one of the kids and finds a way to motivate and reward each in their own way to learn new skills, stay fit, and build self-confidence through accomplishment. My wife loves the women's self-defense classes taught by Lance and my eldest son loves the Kenpō classes taught by Lance and Doug. read more

I'm taking the Women's Self-Defense class at Main Street Martial Arts and I am really liking this class. The Instructor is Lance and, believe me, he is an awesome teacher! He gives us practical advise and teaches us life-saving skills to protect and defend ourselves. I have taken just 3 classes so far, and my muscles have been sore enough after class to know I did some good, but not so much that I don't want to keep coming back for more. I can't wait to see what Lance will teach us next. I have a lot of fun practicing the moves with the other ladies in the class too. It's a great group, and the skills are so valuable to learn. My 2 sons are also taking martial arts classes here with Mr. Christ who is a fantastic Instructor as well! Soon, I'll be able to keep up with my sons, I hope. ;-) This is an all around superb program. I've been going to this dojo for ~6 months & the Integrated Fighting System (IFS) classes are exactly what I was looking for. It mixes the best self-defense parts of Western Boxing, Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kempo & street smarts,There are really no katas in the class, just drills in real street threat scenarios. This includes deescalation, multiple attackers, facing guns & knives & going to the ground. it goes from fighting dirty against a stronger opponent, to safely managing your drunk uncle. Doug is the class master. He is so patient at teaching people at all skill levels on how to use the relevant parts from his decades of training. He also makes the class fun! Lance is another excellent IFS instructor, with vast knowledge & great teaching style. If your looking to learn martial arts & boxing in a no nonsense self defense class, this is it. read more

Myself and my daughter have been training here for over six years. The material for the adult program is the product of countless years of experience refining and working to develop a system that is functional and effective. It is a Integrated Fight System that includes; Kenpo Karate, Israeli hand to hand combat, JKD, BJJ,Boxing, and more. Main Street Martial Arts provides a great program with a variety of styles. The Integrated Fight System includes Kenpo Karate, Israeli hand to hand combat, JKD, BJJ, Boxing, and more. All of the instructors use their rich experience in various disciplines to make IFS accessible yet challenging. Using a traditional belt system, students are encouraged to self-correct and do what feels right in order to progress through the system. They provide a very safe and positive learning environment for every type of student. I don't know very much about the Tae Kwon Do system offered there, but I do know that Lance and Nick have developed an extensive kid and after school program. read more

Without doubt Main Street Martial Arts is the place to go if you are serious about learning martial arts. Great instructors, and facility. Everyone is welcoming, and friendly, with no egos and no BS. I have been taking classes for many years now, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It doesn't matter that I'm not very flexible, the material is adaptable to whatever your size, shape, fitness level, and you're never forced to do what your body can't do. It's up to you. Even after moving away from the Napa area I would rather drive the hour or so to class, than put up with some of the garbage that is out there being taught. In Napa and around the area, it is the best school for Self Defense! Very knowledgeable instructors! Their Integrated Fight System is always evolving and is a complete system that is very useful. Try it for at least 8 weeks and see for yourself! Feel it! Then go try somewhere else and you will see what I am talking about. I go when I can and each time I leave with learning something new. If you have experience and want to continue learning, leave your ego at the door and you will see and learn a lot. Main Street Martial Art is by far the best Dojo you will ever find with the best instructors, period! I have had the privilege to train with quite a few other instructors and with all due respect they were all really good, but Grand Master Meeks and Master Meltzer are extraordinary! I came to Main Street Martial Arts at 37 rusty, slow, with little coordination and not really interested in the traditional belt ranking system. I wanted to do Israeli hand to hand combat, JKD and Kick Boxing. I felt intimidated by the process, I felt too old to try to learn a complex Martial Art like Kenpo. Well with the support and relentless efforts of these great instructors, I realized overtime (I am 43 now!) that the art of Kenpo was to become an integral part of my fighting style and the foundation of my life long pursuit of Martial Arts. You will find no attitude in this Dojo, just supportive individuals like you and I wanting to better there lives and get in shape by learning the art of survival in an unpredictable world. My two young daughters trained there for many years! My daughters learned discipline, tenacity and they have applied what they have learned from Master Christ to their current sports, school and daily activities.
