The park is also dog friendly. The park was well kept. The bridge was nicely constructed. My first sight to see this type of bridge. Overall, I enjoyed walking on the peaceful and beautiful park alongside the White River.

This place offers the following: Aerial Adventure trails, Archery Range & Pro shop, Bike trails, Canoe launch, Equestrian center & trail, Fishing, Green space, Hiking trails, Natural History center, Nature trail, Prairie, Sport and target archery. The park encompasses 800 acres with 8 miles of multi use trails and 3 miles of white river. The restored Native American village was pretty neat to see how they lived. Another great park in Hamilton County!…read more Strawtown Koteewi Park is one of the more unique parks that I've visited in Indiana, as it has multiple Native American structures outside to explore. This is a really neat park to visit with kids, because they can go in and out of the huts, climb in and out of the archeology excavation site, and just have a good time learning about how people used to live on the land before we came along. There is also a very cool visitor's center with artifacts and treasures from a time long past, like a life-sized dugout canoe, animal skeletons, pottery shards, tools and weapons, and lots more. I took a foraging class here this summer, and it was really great learning about the edible plants that are on the park property. Best of all, it was free! But the class was so good that I would have paid for it. Different classes happen all year long, and many of them are free or very little cost. This park is actually very large, and there are different sections where you can hike, go zip lining and horseback riding. The zip lining and horseback riding areas are seasonal, so they're not open all year long.

The park has a decent sized private parking lot and is well maintained. The park is home to a very nice disc golf course, BYOD (Bring your own disc) though. The park has three small to medium sized shelters with picnic tables under it and grills just outside of them. There is also a half decent full basketball court. It is not in the best shape, but it will do. The park does not have a restroom facility, but there is a porta-potty near the parking lot that you could use in a pinch. The park has a lot of good green space that could be used to play soccer, play catch, play football, fly a kite, have a picnic or do other field activities. The park is home to a nice metal gazebo that serves as the Lapel Veterans Memorial. The park's paved trail, that goes alongs its outer perimeter is very nice. It does not get a lot of traffic and is wide-open. The splash pad is pretty basic, but considering that it is in a small town and probably the only one within many miles, it will do. I like the little bench on the outside of it, where parents/guardians can sit and watch their littles. The playground is on a bed of wood chips. It has a bank of traditional/toddler swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a net climber, a metal sliding board (Ouuuch), and a small jungle gym with a few slides and a tunnel. There are benches on the playgrounds perimeter that look onto the playground, where parents can sit and watch their littles. I will admit, this is not a destination park, but is a cool place to visit if you are in the area looking for a place to hang out. It was a nice day during my visit and I found the park very peaceful.

Flat Fork Creek Park is part of Fishers Parks. Located at 101st and Cyntheanne Road, Flat Fork Creek Park offers just over 60 acres of relaxing fun for just about everyone in the family including a good amount of ADA accessibility. First off, you'll get a 60-foot sledding hill here. That's good to know as we inch toward winter. It's the tallest point in Hamilton County. There's also a 1.25 mile progressive mountain bike course that offers features for both mountain biking newbies and those with more experience. There's a beautiful fishing pond - state license required except for those 17 and under. Nearly 20 acres in the park are reforestation areas and there's a shelter with picnic tables that can be rented. Okay, that accessibility I mentioned? The 3k I did was a relatively small group, though it was centered around disability and had several disabled participants. The park includes an ADA accessible treehouse, a paved multi-use trail, and a boardwalk (I would note that while the boardwalk is, indeed, accessible, you do want to be a tad careful due to the side of the boardwalk that do offer a bit of a drop-off). You know what I think is really cool? They've created a ramp here so that even those with mobility issues can get to the top of the sledding hill - in most parks, that's an afterthought. As a side note, Fishers has won awards for their inclusion work and this park really shows it. This is really just a lovely park. You're not going to find a playground or other frequent park features, however, this beautiful park does a nice job of including everyone and weaving together nature with fun park adventures. This was my first time here. It won't be my last.

It is a very well maintained park and is home to a small skate park with a ramp, steps and rails. There is also a decent sized playground that is lined with wood chips. Some of the playground's equipment includes a metal slide (oucchhh), a bank of worn traditional/toddler swings, a see-saw, a tunnel tube, a balance board, a climbing tree, and standing spinner. The equipment is older for the most part, but is still in pretty decent shape. You will also find a large black top near the back of the park that has a small shelter with a couple of picnic tables under it. The black top also has 2 half basketball courts. The black top is in fair condition. The park has a small black top area between the playground and the skate area that can be used to play hopscotch, four square or other blacktop games. The park has a few green space areas that could be used for pick up football games, soccer matches, or have a picnic. There are 3, decent baseball fields on the parks back perimeter. They appear to be used for the towns little league teams and not actually part of the park. I will admit, this is not a destination park, but is a cool place to visit if you are in the area looking for a place to hang out. It was a nice day during my visit and I found the park very peaceful (minus the kids at the nearby school yelling while they were playing at recess).

What I like best about the park are the mature trees that provide lots of shade. Some of the trees are over 400 years old. There is a huge colorful playground with climbing structures, swings and slides. The base is a mix of mulch and soft matting. Benches line the area for parents to sit and watch kids . (The equipment could use a good cleaning from the trees.) There are two ball diamonds with bleachers within the park. A beautiful stream that meanders through the park attracts fisherman. Tree-covered picnic areas are scattered along the creek. The Vermont Covered Bridge spans the creek and is open to pedestrian traffic. There are restroom facilities near the playground. There are several parking areas throughout the park and you can drive along the creek. Highland Park is a great place to bring the family.

Down the ways a bit in the park is a red covered bridge that was fun to walk through and take some photos with. Lastly, there is a large pavilion stage area what was having an orchestra concert, free to attend, and the audience was partially shaded with some picnic tables in the back as well.

The playgrounds are great and seemed pretty inclusive of most age ranges. There's a lot of climbing areas, some more like steps and some ropes and ladders, so they vary the challenge level. This was great for the littles I was with (4-5 yo) and still interesting for older kids I saw playing. Toddlers have their own little playground off to the side. They do have a glider for wheelchair users, but I don't think the rest of the main equipment would be accessible. Maybe the swings for some. There are a lot of mature trees off to one side and at least one picnic table over there. When the trees bloom for the year, it's going to be beautiful! They have a sand volleyball court, paved walking path, and I spotted a few more sports areas--basketball, soccer. There's potentially a lot to do here! Bathrooms were close to the playground and clean. It's close enough to go grab coffee or ice cream after as well, which in my opinion, makes it great for a day of fun. Fall Park is a beautiful retreat in the heart of Pendleton with a rich history. According to…read morehistorical plaques, indigenous people found refuse in the beautiful natural falls. Early settlers moved to the area in 1818 and harnessed the energy of the falls for milling and other uses. A cannery and quarry thrived on the banks of the beautiful creek. After which the area became a neglected dumping grounds. In 1919, a local business man had the vision to clean up the property and turn it into a park. Today, the park is beautiful with a massive modern playground, restroom facility, picnic pavilions, paths along the creek and naturally terraced falls. The quarry was turned into a lovely little pond complete with a folk art lighthouse. A quiet war memorial stands on the north side of the pond. I enjoyed my walk through the manicured grounds with gardens and shaded by large trees. Plenty of parking areas meander through the park. Fishing is permitted in the stream. The park is now host to annual events. This is a fabulous community park with beautiful natural elements, great facilities and a little history.

You can walk to Ohanalulu ice cream, INitaly, Edicta39 and more if you're looking for food while you play.
