We had a sloped yard, seriously eroding and overrun with Japanese knotweed. We met with Tony about taking out the knotweed and putting in a retaining wall to stop. We liked the idea of working with a family business. My husband commented to Tony, "I know you are going to take care of my place like it was yours". Tony nodded agreement. I can tell you, Tony is a man of his word. He is also a perfectionist and a master craftsman. We gave him a sketch of our plan for the yard. He transformed it beyond our imaginations. I was looking to stop the erosion. He went above and beyond, increasing our usable space an amazing amount. He selected budget friendly materials with a stunning result. His high standards shine thru in his crew's work ethic and attention to detail. Tony's crew arrived at 7 am on the scheduled start day and worked past 4:30. His crew WORKED. Multiple neighbors commented on how hard-working they were. I marveled as they brushed and leveled EACH block..and there were a lot of blocks. Guys on the crew noticed our uneven railroad tie steps. They were not in our contract, but they guys took it upon themselves to level the steps. They even reused a railroad tie from another part of the property. Perfectionism and going above and beyond seems to be part of the Maineway Landscaping & Excavation culture. Tony estimated the job would take 2 weeks. It was completed in 8 days. We now have a beautifully graded and expanded side and back yard, complete with paver patio and fire circle. read more

Maineway Landscaping & Excavation in Saco ME made a HUGE mistake when installing our septic tank. Our tank was installed BACKWARDS.. the inlet from the house was lower than the outlet pipe to the pump.. filling our house with sewer gas on the occasion the water was above the inlet hole. They took a job they probably should not have taken which ultimately ended in a missed inspection and the City taking responsibility for fixing the issue. When requesting to speak to the owner he had his office manager call me back and instead of owning the mistake they blamed the designer, the city, and me for not having an inspection done before buying our home. They've avoided contact with me in regards to the service they provided. A company should take ownership and accountability for their errors. Even though the city made it right they should have taken accountability for something as serious as installing a septic tank backwards and not kicking the v can down the road. The owner should have the gumption to speak to clients who they've wronged instead of having his office manager and wife blame everyone else in a snarky and condescending tone. I wouldn't hire them for any work if they can't stand behind their services. read more
