The only thing we knew was you had a place to sleep, usually in a house, and they feed you. We decided to stop at some of the other towns and cities in France, and Beziers looked like an interesting town. When I started doing research on Beziers, the Maison De L'orb seemed to be very popular. It is near the Av. du Pont Vieux Bridge, and is a leisurely 20 minute walk from the train station. It is located in a quiet part of the town, which is something we tend to like when traveling. We stayed in the Jardin room, which had a double and twin bed, and both were comfy. There are also these great double doors that open to a view of the river and the garden below. Nice large bathroom with a huge sink! Because the house is old, the walls are thick cement so noise is at a minimum. The interiors are very eclectic and have so much character! You really feel like you're in someone's home! The hosts, Ben and Mark, make you feel comfortable and are a wealth of information about Beziers and the surrounding towns. We had breakfast at 9 am each morning and it was a bountiful feast of croissants, breads, fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese and meats, cereals, coffee and juice. I felt seriously spoiled and very sad when we had to leave because I knew I wouldn't have this kind of breakfast experience anywhere else on my trip. We enjoyed this peaceful haven so much, we asked to stay one more day. On our last night, we opted for dinner at the maison. We met one of their friends who was passing through and staying one night with his daughter. It was such a fun and lively four course meal, that Mark prepared, for 25E, and we choose a wine from Ben's collection for 12E. Their friend, Mark, was from England so naturally the discussion lead to politics and Americans vs. Englishmen...and more wine provided by Ben and the Englishmen...and it was so much fun! I do recommend guests eating together for at least one night. London Mark gave us some great suggestions for our continued journey through France. On our next vacation to Europe, we do plan on stopping in Beziers. It's such a special little town, and the Maison is like a home away from home. To experience a place like the Maison, is to enjoy life! I highly recommend staying a night, or more!

Recently refurbished, the bedroom I stayed in was all silver and white with great views of the garden and river. The garden itself was also delightful with a secret hidden bar and kitchen. Mark is a lovely host and the breakfast was excellent. Clean. Great bathroom. Lovely atmosphere, not clinical like many places. It's not a hotel, it has an old worldly feel to it. It is a home and that should be respected. I will return.

C only has about nine rooms. Ours, room #1 was really a small suite with a lot of room in the bedroom and the bathroom. It even had a terrace where one could sun themselves in the right weather. Parking is limited, however, with only three spaces. Guests should book a parking space at the same time as reserving the room. Take the center space if given a choice since the two on the sides are a bit difficult to exit from. The staff are very helpful and not rushed, since the hotel is so small. Check-in and out are not stressful at all.

La Residence is a marvelous hotel. Staying there was like being in an elegant yet casual mansion…read more We booked the Superior Double Room (Chambre Double Superieure) and it was perfect. The room had recently been renovated; it was immaculately clean, with a lovely chandelier, beautiful striped velvet drapes and upholstery, and the ceiling was at least 15 ft. high which made the room seem larger. Two twin beds were made into a king-sized bed which was very comfortable. There was a separate closet area and the bathroom was very modern with spotless white and gray tile. They served a wonderful continental breakfast buffet with lots of great choices of breads, croissants, cereal, fruit and delicous freshly brewed coffee and tea. The entire staff was so helpful and since our command of the French language is limited, they were very happy to speak to us in English, always with a smile. If you're driving a car, reserve a parking space in their small but secure and convenient parking garage to avoid looking for street parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Muriel who runs the b&b is a friendly French Gen X former fashion industry veteran who has created a unique business. The top floor of her turn of the century village home circa 1800s, three flights up, is a floor just for guests. We rented two rooms so we had access to the whole floor and a small kitchen with adorable pink Smeg fridge, to store our food. She only has the two rooms to rent, so it's a very intimate lodging experience albeit in a large village house. She lives on the second floor, and the cats live on whatever floor they choose! The textiles, art and furniture she has assembled is clever, humorous and elegant: she has a real eye. The house has a lot of history, and if you are a good guest she may show you some special hidden secrets of the past. Breakfast was excellent, and comes with handmade jams, strong coffee in a French press and high quality local cheese.

The character of the entire hotel is so much more enjoyable than impersonal "chains". Service was wonderful-supportive and helpful. And the hairdryer was so much better than most hotels! Breakfast is great. Light and fresh- a great way to start the day. I asked for and received a recommendation on where to go for a run. I was sent down to the canal, and it was an excellent suggestion. I recommend taking a few euro with on the run- just to stop at one the wonderfully smelling boulangeries on the way back to the hotel. All in all- definitely a great choice if your travels take you to Beziers. I will be telling my colleagues to stay here and no where else while in town.
