Unlike most places that we have been referred to, this was the most nerve wracking establishment to find - but worth the effort. I think it was more google maps who gave us the "scenic" tour to where we thought we would be making involuntary kidney donations.
Great parking, in front of its unassuming facade. Like most worthwhile restaurants, it is part of a unique resort, Eliseo.
Makan's menu is small and is an interesting twist on traditional Filipino cuisine. No San Miguel here, so we enjoyed a good Filipino IPA.
We ordered their Makan Pinakbet, Softshell Crab Adobo, Bagnet Pochero, and Beef Nilaga. Found the Pinakbet to be lacking in flavor, probably because they served the shrimp paste in a cream - like ball on top, meant to be stirred in upon serving. We also found the Beef Nilaga, like all beef we have tried in the Philippines, to be bland, rubbery, and fatty. The other entrees had great presentations and flavors. All the portions were too small for sharing between five people. The entire menu priced on the steep side, service charge is added.
We finished our meals with Leche Flan and Turon. Again, served with interesting twists. I would've enjoyed either carrot or cheesecake - both unavailable.
We were given a tour of the 8 room resort. Each room decorated differently, all centered around the owner's love for skateboarding and water sports. Rates on the high end PH 9000 - PH 13,000. read more
