Faces 顏妝 used to be on East Beaver Creek Road. It is now located inside Shoppes of the Parkway next to Sheraton Parkway Hotel. They are not quite Googleable and they are not on Yelp yet. So I hope this review helps! Connie, the store owner, was very experienced, helpful, easy to work with and super down to earth. My mom really liked her... I think because they can related to each other - the Asian mom thing lol. We actually ended up hiring Connie and her assistant as our hair and make-up artists on the wedding day. They did the hair and make-up for my mom and all my bridesmaids. She followed me the whole entire day making sure I looked fantastic with new hairstyles and make-up every time I changed into something new :) The beautiful wedding dress was love at first sight and I actually bought mine here instead of renting it. For this dress, renting was like $600 (no alterations allowed!), buying was $900 including alterations to fit your size, and Connie will dry clean it for you before you pick it up... so why not :) Their traditional Chinese qipao was also worth buying, and it looked gorgeous on me (alterations also included) ^^ Most bridal studios offer packages where they lend you minimum 3 dresses (usually 1 wedding dress, 1 traditional Chinese qipao, and 1 evening gown). I bought all mine... I know, baller right? hahaha.. I find that your selection is quite limited when you rent... I have more control when I buy my own. Afterall, you want to look your BEST on your wedding day, right girls? :)

It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. And as a bride, trust in your vendor is so key - and I trusted Daniela fully! On our wedding day, Daniela came early and prepared, and was totally unfazed when my mom changed her mind about what she wanted. She is the epitome of creativity, talent, and professionalism. She began threading before I could even get the words out that I wanted no shaping, and promptly interrupted me, saying she knew what I needed. She chastised me for not hiring her for my wedding makeup (I've never met her before in my life). It was a bit more involved than I wanted, but was good enough, when she started to put eyebrow shadow (no idea where that makeup or brush have been) on my freshly raw eyebrows to show what a superior makeup job she would do. My one goal was to keep my skin pristine for my wedding, and throughout she seemed to have no regard for that. She also asked many personal questions, and didn't really listen to the answers, but had some rude responses. She pressed me to get my lips threaded, saying it looked bad. Against my better judgment I said yes, but kept stressing throughout that my skin, especially lip area, is VERY sensitive. She ignored my pain, kept going over and over the same raw areas again and again. She finally did agree that my skin was "very sensitive". When she gave me a mirror, after what seemed like forever, I burst into tears. I looked mutilated with bumps and swelling, and the skin was even broken on the corner of my mouth as I found out later. It was the single worst threading experience of my life and the largest (and certainly most unnecessary) stressor the week of my wedding. I'm so grateful for the skilled advice I got from other specialists to help bring it down over the next few days.

I feel really badly writing this review. First of all, I have to say the women working here are so…read morenice and sweet. I came in for a deluxe pedicure and a shellac manicure. It took over 2.5 hours to do this and the lady painting my toenails shaped them incorrectly and didn't cut any of my cuticles or the dead skin around my nails. The reason I get a pedicure is to remove the dead skin on my feet. After I got home, I pulled out my cuticle clippers to get the effect I expected to receive at the salon. I also told the lady to not cut my fingernails and to just fix the two that were longer than the rest. She shortened all of my nails and they are too short for comfort. They are also crooked and don't have a perfect shape that you would expect at the salon. I told the lady this during the manicure and she tried to fix it but was unable to without making my nails even shorter. She asked another technician to try and fix my nails. The other lady was able to make it look better but at this point it was so late that I had to cancel my evening plans. I was also famished so I told her that it didn't matter and I just wanted to leave. Two of my fingernails were chipped when the first Lady was painting them. They put another top coat on all of my nails because of this but did not offer to repaint those two nails. They look even shorter because of the chips. I would not go back to this salon. The ladies really tried hard to make me happy and they were very kind. They have a deal where they sell a package of 5 or 10 mani/pedis that you can buy at once for future visits. It breaks down to $39 for each visit. The salon was also very clean including the restroom. To compensate for making my nails very short, they took the tax off of my bill. I still tipped them well but I don't think I'll be back. I can shape and paint my nails better than how they did them at this salon. It might be worth a visit. Perhaps the technician was just having an off day.

After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. Above and beyond that, she handles a brush like no one I've met before. The way she builds, the way she blends, the way she shapes brows... OH MY! The truth is, my words cannot do Rachel's talent justice. She is the best there is when it comes to makeup artistry (I've attached the pictures to prove it) and it wont be long before she becomes an industry leader.
