Parking was a little tricky but I found a green P next to Kinton ramen just down the street. From the moment you arrive, everyone's so welcoming! I sat down with Julia pretty quickly and she took the time to look at my pictures of haircut ideas. She listened to what I was looking for and genuinely cares! Hair wash was heaven of course, and I was so ready for this cut. Julia took her time and continuously evaluated the hair length and how it was sitting. I love how meticulous she was with it all. And she was very friendly. It was easy to have a conversation with her and she just makes you feel comfortable. I asked for long layers but it seems like her interpretation is framing around the face shorter which I didn't prefer since now I can't tie my front pieces of hair in a low pony tail... high ponytail is okay ish. I should have made it clearer that I didn't want my layers that short in front. Anyways I'm not too bothered by it since hair does back. Though I think if you want a more personal touch, Peggy does offer more hair care and even shows a mirror to let you see the hair from the back, which my current stylist this time didn't volunteer to show after my cut.

I get to the salon and chat with the lady they booked me with, but turns out she is on Vacation on my wedding day, so they scramble to find someone that would be available to do a mini hair trial and it was a disaster. Paid $40 with nothing to show for it other than photos. She told me all the things that she would do on the day but didn't bother booking another follow-up appointment to do a proper trial. I did not trust this as there was nothing to show for it and was all taken out at the end before leaving the salon because of how messy it looked.

I struggle immensely with my image, so the fact that this man went above and beyond for me brought me to tears of joy during my appointment. Out of the goodness of his heart, he only charged me for a wash & style. Not only did I receive a nice and relaxing wash by Mickey's daughter, but I was also given a therapeutic hair cut & styling by a wonderful man. To walk into a place I thought was just a nice hair salon that was convenient for me to attend, without checking out their website, it was one of the best surprises I had ever walked into. I normally go to Farnoosh who is great and always styles my hair just how I want it!! She was away so I went to Hanna. She did great colour and the trim was fine however she could not style my hair the way I liked it. I showed her a picture of my hair to show her the length I was looking for, my hair is naturally curly, but I specifically told her that I wanted it styled in beachy curls, you know like a traditional salon blowout! Instead she styled it in very tight ringlet curls with the hair on top flat. It looked like a mushroom. I told her I was not happy with it so she tried to tease then defuse it, and then blamed me for saying that my hair gets curly when it doesn't (it absolutely does). That's because it hadn't been prepped properly for diffusing. Finally she straightened it but by that time she had messed with it so much it did not even straighten smoothly and had no bounce. I was there for 3 1/2 hours and I could tell she was frustrated so I had to leave unhappy. If I get a cheap haircut I don't mind leaving unhappy with the styling, but when I spend $250 on my hair (It was that much because I got all over color, highlights, and a cut), I expect to walk out with my hair the way I like it however by the end her attitude was so bad that I felt like I could not keep asking her to make it the way I liked it, we would've had to wash it and start over. I was absolutely heartbroken to spend half my day and $300 (after tip) and not look like I just walked out of the salon. Especially because I had a much anticipated date night, which is rare for me with two kids. It was also my first time getting a good haircut after going through chemotherapy three years ago, it took me a long time to be able to be ready to splurge on my hair again. I left in tears because my hair looked horrible, and I could tell the hairdresser was upset with me. She is a very good and knowledgable colorist, but I think she needs to understand that no matter how long it takes or how frustrating the client seems, the client has to walk out happy and she needs to recognize when they aren't. I could see other stylists looking over and they could tell. I understand that I seemed like a difficult customer, all I wanted was a basic blow out at the end (like all the other women were walking out with). I left out crying that I did not get to get that "fresh from the salon" look and feel, and that I'd upset my hairdresser. I am adding a picture of my hair when I walked out, it was two months ago and I am still not over it, it is absolutely horrifying to me that a stylist in the salon would let me walk out looking like this after spending $300. I'm also quite upset because I won't be able to go back to Farnoosh after posting this review, however I have reached out to the owner of the salon and the company with no response.

After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. Above and beyond that, she handles a brush like no one I've met before. The way she builds, the way she blends, the way she shapes brows... OH MY! The truth is, my words cannot do Rachel's talent justice. She is the best there is when it comes to makeup artistry (I've attached the pictures to prove it) and it wont be long before she becomes an industry leader. You better get in on this while you still can because now that the word is officially out, her waiting list just got a helluvah lot longer.
