After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. Above and beyond that, she handles a brush like no one I've met before. The way she builds, the way she blends, the way she shapes brows... OH MY! The truth is, my words cannot do Rachel's talent justice. She is the best there is when it comes to makeup artistry (I've attached the pictures to prove it) and it wont be long before she becomes an industry leader. It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. The difference is an asian MUA would put a lot of care in the overall presentation & definition in the eyes. Plus who can say no to careful details, eye tape & airbrushing :) I loved my trial & knew right away I had to book her. I was ultra amazed that I did not tear up when she did my eyes as they are ultra sensitive to everything. I booked her exactly a year before my wedding. A month prior to the wedding, we had a consultation meeting. Betty was also very professional, efficient with communication, and always on time. She's also one of the sweetest ppl I know. On my day I had no worries even though I had only slept for an hour and 15 mins. She made me look as though I had plenty of energy, flawless skin and I am forever thankful :) She had about 2-3 other MUAs with her on my day for the bridesmaids makeup & hair. I thought they looked bloody spectacular ! For the PM touch up, I also requested for a hair change & she stayed with me till after the tea ceremony to prep for the cocktail hour. Price wise, I thought she was worth every penny & more. $280 for bridal makeup & hair (one accessory rental & touch up in PM included). Airbrush additional $30.
