Beware. I hired Purewal Contractors to do a complete renovation of my bathroom. I hired them back…read morein March, with a promise to start and complete the entire bathroom by the end of April 2022. They did not "finish" their work until the end of June 2022- a full TWO MONTHS later. Additionally they made a HUGE MISTAKE on the installation of my toilet and never offered to fix it. Let me explain from the very beginning.... At first, Singh and his brother were very nice. Everything was "no problem, no problem." They communicated clearly, sent texts back and forth to discuss material choices, and started their work in early April like they said. As time went on, they started to show up less and less. Singh started to ignore my messages and phone calls, and was very hard to get in touch with. The NUMBER ONE job of a contractor is to take measurements and make sure everything is done to a high standard. As a customer, you hire them to do the work you don't understand or can't do yourself. So, imagine my surprise when I got my first look at my new bathroom and the toilet was THE WRONG SIZE. They NEVER MEASURED the rough-in before installing the toilet. My bathroom has a 14 inch rough-in. But instead, they ordered a 12 inch rough-in toilet, brought it to my apartment, and STILL INSTALLED IT. The toilet has a huge gap behind the tank and the wall. After seeing it, I explained my frustration. As a contractor, you are supposed to take measurements and install the correct equipment. Not only did they not measure, they brought the wrong toilet, most likely noticed it was the wrong rough-in size, and STILL INSTALLED IT. Who does that? Then they told me they would not replace the toilet or order the correct one. I was SO ANGRY. I spent over $10,000 dollars on this bathroom, and now he put me in a position to have to buy another toilet, and hire someone ELSE to fix his mistake. They also ignored my phone calls and texts for over a week. I eventually had to have my husband call. I thought maybe they would respond quicker to a man. They called back right away. (hmmmm......) Additionally, the person who installed my shower doors made a big measurement mistake and drilled holes into my new tiles in the wrong place. They are "patched," but those kind of mistakes are unacceptable. He also ordered the wrong shower doors at first, even though I clearly send him the correct ones. So many delays after delays. They will claim there were supply issues, but never once were my materials "out of stock," "backordered," or "delayed." They just say that to buy time. So, beware. I believe they will tell you everything is perfect up front, but then they take on too many projects and spread themselves too thin. The work is not done on time, and is very careless. They also left my apartment very dirty, and didn't remove all their debris. I had to take out my old medicine cabinet myself and spent 3 days cleaning up their dust. Overall, the biggest complaint is the toilet and the time frame. If they would have replaced it and admitted they made a mistake, I would have been much happier. And if they would have completed their work on time- or within reason- I would have been happier. I do like the medicine cabinet and vanity area. That part was done well. Just beware. That's all.

The work included the relocation of 2 full new kitchens; all new internal plumbing; an upgraded electrical system; and the installation of split air conditioning systems throughout all 5 floors. The millwork / finishing / painting done by his team were meticulous, and we ended up 2 beautiful new apartments - a triplex with 2 bedrooms 2 baths, and a duplex with 2 bedrooms / 2 baths. Shafayet was always responsive to our inquiries / requests and provided solutions to the many problems that were encountered in a project of this size. He also coordinated well with the architect and third party vendors that were involved in this project too. His bid for the job was very reasonable compared to the bids of 4 other general contractors. Great value overall!

Their hands-on owner, Shafayet, was responsive and fully transparent, and even asked for a meeting when he sensed a disconnect regarding our expectations and the treatment we chose. For credibility we might say that his people are skilled, but that it's important to take care to monitor scaffolding people, whom Multi doesn't directly supervise. In our view he turned out to be exactly what we were hoping to find -- instead of IBM, a local, smallish outfit that led with scrappiness and responsiveness. Highly recommended

There were cracks throughout. Arbi and his father inspected the whole space and were able to diagnose the problem. Arbi and his team worked efficiently and did a beautiful job. Cleanest stucco work and roofing I've ever seen. We've had a few heavy rains since and it's holding up beautifully. Arbi was very easy to communicate with and was responsive throughout the whole process. I'll definitely reach out to them for my roofing/waterproofing/stucco needs in the future. We chose Prime Renovations to do a big renovation of our 3BR Brooklyn warehouse loft. Hiring a contractor is like getting married - you are going to be spending a lot of time with the person, so trust and communication are key. I met three contractors at my apartment to get an idea of price and their approach to the work. One contractor came recommended by someone in the building, but when he told me that he recommended scaling back part of my bathroom renovation to make the project easier, it didn't sit well with me. If the contractor is saying "No" at the beginning, imagine how that is going to sound one month into the project. One contractor seemed great in person, had a lot of ideas, sent me a detailed quote, and then was very hard to reach for weeks, explaining that he was doing a lot of traveling. I believed him, but I am on my phone all the time, and I wanted someone more accessible. Although I was tempted to go with the second person, I was a little weary about the communication issue. A friend who works in real estate told me that is normal with contractors, that you have to bug them to get a response. I believed him until I spoke with Jeff, who is the owner of Prime Renovations. He met me on time, replied to my emails and phone calls quickly, and had a lot of ideas for make my renovation happen. There were a number of pros to choosing Prime Renovations: - Communication: This is huge, Jeff is available by email and phone all the time. This is so important when you are dealing with all the stress of a renovation. - Quality: Very high. I am a little shocked when I look around my apartment. It looks so nice that my wife and I can't believe that we live here. This also meant that many little things were done that make the project look high end. - Subcontractors (flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing): These guys were excellent. When we had an issue or wanted to change things, such as the location of our chandelier, moving a ceiling fan, dealing with a problem dishwasher, etc., Jeff was quick to deal with it. - Integrity. I don't use this word lightly. I am a psychiatrist and spend all day trying to help people understand their motivations. I believe that Jeff is an honestly good person who would not cheat a client. Although renovation is inevitably stressful, I trusted him with my home. As a result, we love living in our renovated apartment. I am thankful I chose to work with Jeff and Prime Renovations. ONE YEAR UPDATE: The quality still looks great. We had an issue with the W/D and Jeff came out himself to look at it and then sent the plumber, who came for free. Outstanding guarantee. Also, my father is an engineer and home builder outside of the city and he specializes in spotting mistakes and errors in construction. He stayed with me for a few days and spontaneously said that the construction was very well done, especially the small details. Huge compliment and it speaks to the quality of my renovation.
