Highly recommended. We engaged Excellent Contracting to complete several facade, masonry and cement projects on our 120 year old multi-family co-op brownstone in the Cobble Hill Historic district. We are very satisfied with the professionalism of the entire Excellent team and with the quality of the completed work. They showed up on time, worked hard and treated the project as if it were their own property and building. Excellent took care of obtaining the needed permits and were knowledgable of the additional requirements Landmarks has put in place for work within historic district. On multiple occasions Excellent provided valuable counsel on how to best address our building's needs while dealing with a real world budget - and clearly explained the possible options and associated costs. The few, minor concerns that presented during the various projects were all handled with professional courtesy and resolved to full satisfaction. I've used Excellent Contracting on our townhouse for two separate jobs. There is not a single aspect of the experience that isn't of the highest order. From the management to the crew, the professionalism and good nature are on constant display. The quality of the work equals the experience with the people. We actually joked that we missed the guys once the job was over. Highly recommended. On a final note, I read in another review that they didn't honor a warranty, I had the opposite experience where an issue arose that was debatable about who was culpable (likely a construction project next door), but the operator of Excellent Construction did the repairs at no charge without question. read more

Our go -to masonry contractor. We have used Excellent for four different projects for our brownstone home over the past 8 years including a stoop restoration, front cornice and facade power wash and repair, rear cornice rework and repair and sealing of the back wall. Meraz and his workers are very customer focused and don't cut corners on delivering quality work. On the most recent job, one of the workmen who had worked on our house before, stopped on his way in to check on how we liked that job, 6 years later. Easy to work with and reliable. read more

This company does not honor their warranties. Their primary goal is to sting you along with mixed messages about them tending to a warranty until you get so sick of waiting you need to hire someone else to do the work. If you enter into a contract with this company, you need to have a lawyer review your warranty before you start the work. read more

All of his promises were kept and even when I asked for something extra, it was done -- including one item with no charge. Meraz and the rest of the team get highest marks for professionalism. They have just finished a complete restoration of my brownstone facade, and it looks just great. In particular, the restoration of the rough-cut stone is better than any I've seen; it looks as close to the real thing as stucco can get. Also, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approval process was a snap. Sure there were little things that we needed to keep on top of and have redone such as having trouble opening our hatch when the scratch coat was applied. But here's the thing: never did Meraz say it couldn't be fixed or want an extra charge for it. It was always, "Oh, I see. I understand. We'll fix that right away." And it was done promptly. There is no more important attitude you should want with your contract than that. We are very happy with the result. read more

I honestly can't say enough great things about Meraz and his team at Excellent Contracting! We hired them first to repair/refinish our historically-landmarked brownstone stoop and ultimately hired them to do a number of other jobs, including an under stoop restoration, cornice repair and painting, and resetting our bluestone front yard because we were so impressed with the quality of their work and their attentiveness to the job. They are great value, an absolute pleasure to work with, and often go above and beyond to make sure the job is done perfectly. They're also extremely communicative and have an excellent attitude, which proved invaluable to us throughout the renovation process. I can't comment on the work because we never ended up hiring this company. They came to do a consultation and we were waiting for an estimate. After a week I called them and they said they weren't servicing that area. Waste of time and they should have called and told us that. read more

Excellent Contracting LLC did superb work on my mother's home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Abu spearheaded the renovation which included complete cement repaving of the large driveway, the front walkway and front steps. My mother's house was built in 1898 and has historic significance. We wanted an accurate restoration of the original steps which included unusual details and brownstone steps that needed to be done exactly . The work by Excellent Contracting was highly professional, reliable, timely and was done with great skill and care. In addition, Abu and his team were a delight to work with -courteous, neat and responsible. They were interested in complete customer satisfaction and would go the extra mile to ensure this. We could not have been more happy with the work and I can recommend them highly without any reservation. The finished job is beautiful and is a skillful, complete and perfect replication of the original. We have received so many wonderful compliments from neighbors and friends.
