The Mall of Abilene is certainly better than anything in my little hometown. When I stopped here primarily for an Ulta order pickup on 11/21/2022, the place was easy enough to find. Plus Ulta basically had their own separate entrance for even quicker pickup. The one restroom area I saw on the directory was clear on the other side. Seems like for such a seemingly expansive mall that another set should be developed on this end. Then when I got to the women's restrooms there was an awkward line because of the tight area. There were 3 - maybe 4 - stalls. That's not enough for this mall! Lol. Then they had only the dryers you dip your hands into for drying--no paper towels which would not normally bother me but it was grungy like the rest of the facilities. Leaving the parking lot to enter the Interstate 25 west was also a bit of a hassle, but thanks to friendly folks, I got out quicker than the right-turners in front of me. Meh. I am not sure what a small town mall is supposed to be like. I am used to larger malls. So I will be fair. There's not a lot to do, honestly. I will say all the employees at the stores we did visit were friendly enough. The coffee shop inside Books-a-Million was very good. I suppose I will post a seperate review for just them. The play area is for toddlers and not small children and they do beat the crap out of eachother there so beware... That's about all I've got. Nothing really spectacular. If you're just wanting to get out of the hotel/house for a bit I suppose it would do the trick. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity I got to go here. Being a small-town mall, it still had glory. The movie theater is what I frequented the most. I did a fair amount of shopping there too. I always felt secured with my safety and my belongings. I cannot wait till I can go back and visit. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. read more

Drove from Brownwood for Dr appt. Went to Lowe's, saw my Dr. Being finished by 10:30, I decided to go by JC Penneys. There were a few people hanging around the front with luggage, and another person inside the entrance with his bags. I was suprised to find the doors locked at 10:45. An employee opened the door to let me know they didn't open until 11 a.m. As it was only a few minutes until 11, I waited in my car. During this time, the people with their luggage started moving down the sidewalk. It occured to me that these poor people were homeless. While my heart absolutely goes out to these people, Abilene does have places for them to be. They dont have to be outside in the cold or loitering in the entry ways of stores. Frankly, I am suprised mall management permits it. It's also ridiculous for a large operation such as the mall to not open until 11. They are closing early, which gives them time to disinfect. With sales being down, and people shopping online, they are just asking to go out of business. This is something I would expect in Brownwood, not Abilene. read more

As with any mall it's crowded and overpriced. The piano man makes the visit very pleasant though. The shops are. Varied and unique. I usually don't get anything, but today one shop was having a BOGO 2 sales. So I got 3 jackets for $50. That's pretty cool. read more

I guess it's my favorite indoor mall, cause it's our only indoor mall. In my younger days, shopping at the mall was fun. Lots of window shopping and getting something to eat at one of the many places. And all the walking did you some good. People watching was fun. Now you have to drag me here. This is a poor excuse for a mall. Lack of shops, down on their luck people that lack customer service. The "Food court" is something to laugh about! Now with Covid scares going on, the Mall of Abilene that was never all that great, has gotten worse. It's pretty much a joke when you have friends that come into town and are of the shopper variety and you have to take them them out there. Most of the stores are closed now and with an almost economic suicidal mindset the short hours are bolstered with some pretty arrogant customer service, in many of the stores. They seem to almost enjoy kicking you out right on time. I really do believe that malls in general will be something you only see in 80's movies in the next ten years. I think this mall is doing its best to hasten the out of business movement that I see coming. read more

Style: Not as big as the malls in bigger cities but same stylish look. Parts are more rugged, but still awesome for a mid-sized city and can cater to anybody who's realistic and not high maintenance. All the employees were friendly and the security was helpfull, which leads to my next situation. The Situation ----------------- I parked next to a Dillards entrance, then when I went out and could not find my car, I thought it was stolen. I angrily called 911 and ended up in an argument with the dispatcher because she was asking me if I was at the woman's entrance or men's entrance and I was like, "What the hell are you talking about?" After 5 minutes of arguing, I told the dispatcher I will meet them at the entrance that faces the gas station across the street. I hung up the phone and yelled out loud in the middle of the whole store, "I'm going to kill the person or people who jacked my car!" With some choice words. I also yelled "I hate this town!" Also with choice words. As for the latter, I was not blasting on Abilene in general, it's a great town, but property crimes like car theft are high there, and that's what I was really attacking. Anyway, security was friendly and helpful with my dilemma. As it turns out, the mall has 2 different Dillards stores, one male and one female, and I finally understood what the dispatcher said, and my apologies to her for that and my anger. As it turns out my car was parked in front of the other Dillards and everything was hashed out with the police when they showed up. Security even told me this happens all the time. The malls in the DFW Metroplex usually keep each store coed, which is why I fell into the position I ended up in, and the misunderstanding with dispatch as well, which once again I apologize. So all in all, I cannot stress enough, and I owe it to the employees and security at the mall: IF YOU PARK IN FRONT OF ONE OF THE DILLARDS, BE SURE, BE SURE YOU EXIT OUT OF THE RIGHT ONE TO AVOID THINKING YOUR VEHICLE IS GONE! There are more disobedient, unaccountable children, running around and screaming than the local Play Place at McDonalds. The stores were good, but we ate at the food court. At first the food was fine, but once we finished eating, we saw a giant roach crawl up the wall of the vender where we got food from. My party got up to leave, but I went up to the counter to tell the man who served us what we saw. It was obvious that he didn't speak English, so I googled a picture of a roach to show him and pointed to where we saw it. I had expected him to get another employee or even a manager who would be able to understand, but instead he looked at me like I had lost my mind. So I left and I will not be returning. read more

Mall of Abilene, meet reality... reality, meet Mall of Abilene.. First off, the best feature of this mall so the parking lot, pretty sad, is it not? McDonald's and Chili's are right next to the main parking lot and Buffalo Wild Wings (B2W for the aficionados) is pretty close by too. Why, you ask, am I pointing this out? Because, should you decide to grab a bite... i strongly NOT recommend the food court of this "mall". As far as the stores that inhabit this shopping center, nothing truly stands out: the same old (yawn) boring choices, the same pricey prices... Oh, and if your child asks you to "drop me at the mall", they won't need much cash... they just wanna spend some time with their friends... NOT even the movie theater in it is worth mentioning. Great movie theater and the Mall of Abilene is kind of small. Went to the GNC and Bath and Body Works. Walked around the mall and it was ok.

My boyfriend travels for work and I am happy when we stay at hotels near a mall for obvious reasons. The layout of this place isn't amazing, it's only one level for starters. But there is a Best Buy attached as well as an Ulta. I notice most of the girls here in Abilene like to shop at the same store and buy the same dresses. You know the ones, crazy colors with the white stripe at random. Lucky for me there is an Express and some other decent picks for my wallet to enjoy. Quite a few options for food and snacks, I don't think they have a real food court though, just scatter them all over. Well... it's better than no mall at all! 3.5 stars read more

Mall has been nicely updated, and has a very clean look and feel. For the size of a mall that it is, it has a good selection of stores and places to eat. It's no mega-mall, but warm and inviting. I especially like thier "no one under 18 without an adult" rule. Much less to worry about when you're there with small children. read more

It's a mall. I mean, it's a small mall, but it's still just a mall. All malls are the same. Hot Topic? Check. Spencers? Got it. J.C. Penny? Yep. Sears? Okay. Really, how do you rate a mall? Based on how big it is? It's one floor. It's a medium mall, of sorts. It doesn't have much of a food court, really. Honestly, all malls suck, when you get right down to it. There's nothing special about any of them (except for maybe The Mall of America). I've never been to a unique mall in my life. Same stores, same people, same prices. Our Abilene mall is okay. It has the things that I need at a mall. It has Spencers for my strange gifts. It has Best Buy for my electronics. It has a book store for my books. It has a Dillards for I don't shop at Dillards because it's wasted money. So I give our mall a 3-star. It's not a big-city mall, it's not a tiny mall; it's just another mall. Being from Plano, this mall sucks. One good thing about it sucking though is that it's not very crowded. The Dillard's is pretty nice and is the biggest store at the mall. There used to be a Steve and Barry's and Gap outlet but both are gone. There is a cookie place which rocks. If you're looking for the best mall then this isn't it. It's not a bad mall but by all means this could be better. It has been updated and looks great on the inside. However, the lack of food varieties really hurts this mall. There isn't a big variety of places to eat at. I will say you can't go wrong with Dante's or Chick-Fil-A. The stores are okay. You have your typical ones but this isn't the best selection you could get. It's good for what it is but it could be a lot better. Unfortunately this place is turning into hipster central. read more

It's not a big mall for the size town Abilene happens to be, and it's a bit more conservative (i.e. no kids allowed without parents on Fridays and Saturdays) but it's got a couple of things going for it: 1. It's air conditioned. When summer temps are raging it's a cool alternative to walk, and the length of it is about 3/4 of a mile. The problem is not a lot of folks actually go there to walk so they're strolling (in packs, strangely) which can break your pace when it is a little more crowded. 2. It's got eclectic shops like Earthbound and Bucketheads - which are fun places to browse that are a bit outside your standard mall fare like Spencers and Hot Topic. There's no real food court to speak of, and the food options you do have are spread out across the mall. El Chicos, Chick fil A, Dante's and Chuck E Cheese offer sit down dining, and there's a standard cookie shop and pretzel stand. Your department bigger stores are limited to Pennys, Sears and Dillards (which has two locations) and there's a sizable Best Buy, Books a Million and Ulta. The theater there is pretty cool with awesome artwork adorning the walls. Unfortunately they don't necessarily get the pick of new movies, which tend to go mostly to Century. My biggest complaint with the mall is running the gauntlet of all the kiosk companies right in the center. The salespeople are fairly aggressive, which I find annoying and disruptive to the whole mall experience. It makes me avoid where I used to frequent, and the reason this review rates just A-OK. read more

Small, lots of vacancies, no more craft shows or special events, high rents, rude office staff, no food court, if you want clothes or shoes you are in luck - if you want anything else you are SOL. Plus the new bulk candy store is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! We still go to the Chocolate box next to Best buy - even though they arent allowed to sell builk candfy since the new place cut into their territory - it has been in business for years and is still a better value than that new overpriced candy store!!! I do love dantes pizza though - but even there the quality is going down. Pizza still good but got an inedible eggplant parm sandwich there the other day. It was gray and taste less. I literally threw it out after two bites! I notice that the people in the kiosks dont stay long which makes me think there is no money to be made there. It is always empty, even on the weekends. Makes sense. This mall makes me want to move back to NY to be able to have a choice between five great malls all within a few minutes of each other!!! read more

Used 2 parking spaces like I usually do because who ever designed the re-done parking lot must drive one of those uber tiny Smart cars and thinks everyone else in West Texas does as well. HA! News flash there! That nut place outside of Hot Topic needs a ventilation system to vent their burning nuts outside. Or better yet, they should just relocate to outside the building. The Abilene mall is very average, if not below. There's a few good stores (Best Buy, Books a Million, Dillards), but it's very small with limited options. There isn't even a food court. I don't know what happened at this mall, the remodel isn't nice at all. They put ugly carpet throughout the whole dump and now it smells like old dirty socks. It is very filthy looking, but so are a lot of the people who work there. I ONLY go there if i have to and that is very rare. This mall makes me miss main street and the town square, I would rather shop somewhere else. It is no wonder that alot of stores moved and some don't stay long at all. read more

I don't know why everyone gave this mall such low ratings. I'm from Austin and I travel with my husband for work and we stay all over. I could not believe how cheap everything was in this mall!!!!! Crazy 8 had tons of awesome children's clothes for just $4.99!!!! Dillard's had 50% off Michael kors watches!!!!!!! I grabbed a couple!!!!! I was eyeing a watch that was $350.00- THEY HAD IT FOR ONLY $175!!!!!! Also jcpennys- all their pea coats were $180.00 on sale for 25-$30 bucks!!!!!!!! Seriously?! I'll take me some if those to!!!! They had a great play area for my daughter who is almost 3, which she had a blast playing with all the children. I am a shopaholic and I have been to PLENTY of malls. But the prices in this mall I could not believe. They have some great stores in there. I will definitely being coming back in a month when I'm back in town. Love this place! Great selection of stores, very clean mall, lots of security so I feel safe, friendly and professional office staff and conveniently located. Regarding the bad review they got for teens not being allowed at the mall on the weekends after a certain time, that's because they have a family-friendly shopping policy. In other words, the mall is not your kids' babysitter and I happen to really like that policy. Now I can go shopping on a Friday or Saturday night and not have to walk past your thug-looking kids smoking at the entrances or seeing your scantily-clad teenage girls kissing their boyfriends and don't have to hear the foul language coming out of their mouths as they cruise the mall, scoping out which stores to steal from next. Now it's just people there actually looking to spend some money instead of just hanging out. I love it! I feel safe there on the weekend now. read more
