I've been going to Malliway's for about five years. I starting shopping at their old store and have continued to visit them at their current location. Blake and Wycke are friendly and knowledgable. I highly recommend their workshops. Lucas and Brandon are also great, very patient and eager to help. The selection is vast and the prices are reasonable. I'm always happy to go to a metaphysical store where many of the books are not just Llewellyn. In fact, the gentleman sell excellent books from their own publishing company, Crossed Crow Books; their books cover many subjects from common topics to the esoteric. read more

This is a really cute store! It has fascinating items and decor. I come in here to look at their inventory all the time. I highly recommend coming and browsing the store! In terms of tarot reading services, I would suggest holding out unless you feel you really resonate with the person. I spent $25 on a reading with Barbra and went home and regretted it a bit . It felt a little rushed but I'm sure that depends on the reader. Personally , I felt uncomfortable and that the reader was giving advice personally rather than from the cards. I've never experienced this much personal input/ advice outside of the cards during the reading, so I did not resonate with this reader or reading. I found myself feeling a bit invalidated honestly. In conclusion, please do your research before you to spend money on the services here! (A couple of months later) I've also given the tarot reading services here another try and I feel it's just too vague and too expensive for what you are receiving. I keep on giving these readers a chance and kind of get disappointed with the services I receive based on the amount of money I spend. If you're willing to spend upwards of $50 for a reading I'm sure you would get a different experience but if you're not willing to pay that much and are looking for something more affordable- I would hold off here- respectfully! Excellent collection of mundane to esoteric items. Candles, incense, tarot and divination decks, books on tons of subjects. Crystals and jewelry - really too much to describe. Very friendly and welcoming - there are couches where you can review a book before purchase or maybe get your cards read. They also host a number of events to further support the community. I came here with a friend for a Lughnasah celebration a few days ago. I'm not into modern Wicca, just old Celtic history, archaeology and traditions, so it wasn't really my jam, but the space was lovely and the people were nice. The rituals seemed tedious and contrived, but at least the people officiating had a sense of humor. I almost splurged on a book that contained some recipes for using invasive plants (invasive weed pesto spoke to me) for a young foraging expert, but there was too much spiritual stuff in it that wouldn't have been relevant for either of us, and it was pretty pricey. Still, that experience is going to send me down a rabbit hole of research on use of invasive plants in cooking, which is pretty cool. It was my fault for expecting something like a Harvest Home drama out of Thomas Hardy, or open fires with lots of alcohol (all of which would have been a very bad idea in a small store). read more

Had to give this place 5 . It's such a cute place. Francesca who was working there made me feel like I wanted to come back and stay and have tea with her. The vibe is so even and relaxing. There is a space to sit and read. And to hear about the history of the building is so nice. The book selection is quite large and there is a nice selection of herbs. An excellent resource for all things occult. I have been there two times in the past 6 months or so and both times staff were welcoming, very helpful, unpretentious, accessible, and easy to talk to. They stock a large variety of books, crystals, herbs, candles and much more at really fair prices. Went in this store with my daughter in law to purchase tarotdeck for a gift. We were immediately greeted upon entrance and the lady working continued to check on every customer in store as well as patiently answering all questions asked. Idk her name but she was very knowledgeable about everything in the store as well as trying to make every customer welcome. We were invited to come back even if it's just to sit and read a book and have a cup of tea. This shop has anything you can think of for occult supplies. Highly recommend this shop. read more

FANTASTIC little neighborhood shop that carries all of your magical needs! Herbs, candles, books, oils, incense and even concierge spells. Very knowledgeable and excellent vibes when you walk in. Not dark or void, like some of the shops in Chicago, but very light and welcoming. Lots of great online and a few in person workshops, too. read more
