So while it's 5 stars here let me deal with the single biggest criticism I have - bloody chemically…read moremade red food dye (quite literally, as well as figuratively) - in their chicken tikka massala (see photo) and likely also in one of the free poppadum dips. The use of chemicals like these food colours is 1 star as I can't make it zero. The good news is that the food is really tasty (which is the only reason it's 5 stars) and chemical food colours are not needed as it adds nothing to taste, and in the 21 century, with genuine well-founded additive health risks/scares it's surely not the image they want, especially as all the meals here are priced right at the very top dollar end - so value for money is barely 3 stars. We were there early evening May 2021 and they were very busy - maybe a post lockdown bounce? Staff were attentive and gracious with it. I had muttar paneer, a sort of cottage cheese in a delightful curry gravy with peas (see photo). Although it was very tasty indeed, with a fairly good portion, it had to be as the mark up has to be over 700%. The addition of grated fresh ginger added depth to the dish and was very welcome too. My wife and I shared an overpriced yellow pilau rice (hopefully coloured with turmeric) and an overpriced: peswari nan (which was sadly more of a thin crisp bread than bread and 3 star) with the mark up here too at least 600%. At its price it should be a proper, fluffy, large nan bread. In short, they must have extremely good profit margins so this should be consistently reflected in the quality of healthy food served up - if it's called nan bread, as it is, and instead it's a thin crisp bread, as it is, then it's well overpriced and it is. I also tried the balti chicken and again it had a really delicious and balanced flavour, but as I close this review their unnecessary use of industrially processed, chemical, sunset red food dye in dishes that are certainly priced much more than high enough to contain only natural food, just bugs me and if I keep thinking about it I'll drop the review overall to between 2 & 3 stars.

I have frequented both branches of this well-known Indian Restaurant on many occasions, and have…read morenever really been disappointed. Their branch in Newtownabbey was the most recent port of call for my Dad's brithday, as we decided to treat him to an Indian feast, which we ordered in and went to collect. I had the Chicken Rogan Josh with Mushroom Pilau Rice and Peshwari Naan Bread. Absolutely delicious. Lovely thick tomato based sauce with a great spicy kick at the end. The chicken was tender and there was plenty of it, although my Mum, who ordered the Chicken Bhuna was disappointed to find quite a measley portion of chicken in hers. Despite this one complaint, the food was piping hot and ready when we went to collect it, which is the one down-side of thier take-away service, they don't deliver! It is a bit of a pain having to drive up and collect it, but the food really is great and it was worth it to celebrate my Dad's birthday. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, nicely decorated and the tables aren't too close together ( a real bug bear for me, usually) and the waiters are attentive and helpful. A definite yes for eating in or taking away.

Absolutely appalling service. Ordered food and waited over an hour with no delivery. When I called,…read moreI was told it was "with the driver". After an hour and a half, I then received a call from the restaurant claiming the driver had come to my address and no one answered the door. This is a complete lie. No one rang the doorbell, no one knocked, and no one called my phone. When I asked why the driver didn't call when the door was supposedly unanswered, there was no explanation at all. Now I'm left having to waste even more of my time dealing with an online app to get a refund that will apparently take up to a week. Dishonest, disorganised and utterly incompetent. Worst takeaway service I've ever experienced. Avoid.

Kinara is really great and with top staff to match it's a great dining experience! We popped in one evening and ordered our usual amount of food that would feed five people. We went for lamb vindaloos (my partner) and I went for the chicken Jalfreze. Both were excellent and I couldn't fault wither portion size or flavour. The rest of the food, the Onion Bhajis, Saag Aloo, Bombay aloo and naan bread were all as good as I've ever had. They also let you bring your own if you want which brings the bill price down which is great. Can't recommend this place enough!
