We were told that the tamales are made to be more moist than normal and that was certainly true. They had a great, moist corn masa shell and generous beef filling. Without a doubt, they were the best I've had. The fried pies were also wonderful. I used to stop off at the Original Fried Pie shop near Turner Falls in Oklahoma (don't know who runs it now) and considered them to be the best available. After finishing off the peach from Old Fashion Tamales and Pies, I have to revise my statement and state that I don't know of any better. Look for the sign on 121 and siop in, you won't regret it. Next time I'm in the area, I'll pre-order a couple whole pies and pick up a few dozen tamales for the freezer.
