Visiting this library I was mortally affected from the initial visit. Imagine 16,000 square feet and expansive windows throughout, intelligent use of natural lighting and views on all four (4) sides designed by Ryan Group Architects. Had a request for the Mammoth Library that I thought "No way" would they have this book in a "Mountain Town." Surprised to learn they had the book and finished it during our stay in Mammoth Lakes. Doors were open/closed depending on what day you visited. Kids can hang in the children's library and see "vistas" of Sherwin range on the south side. Class and service are not expletives here but the norm. read more

A great library! I was in the Mammoth Area to meet up with friends and got into town early. I decided to check out the library and maybe get a little work done. The library was very quiet and just a few patrons on a weekday morning. I grabbed a table and was able to charge my laptop and phone and use the free WiFi (no password needed). Easy parking and centrally located. They also have 20 computer stations and there was lots of availability when I was there. read more

I absolutely loved this library! I found myself in a pinch and they totally saved the day. Thanks to big work tables, ample, quiet workspaces and free WIFI, I was able to get a ton of important work done remotely. I was also really impressed with the movie rental selection. Lots of great foreign films, a solid new releases section and even a variety of great documentaries. I remember the old days when all the library had was educational, school videos. This library was almost like peeping into a Netflix account or a Blockbuster! It took me fifteen minutes just to pick a movie because I was so torn between all of the options. I'd guess there are at least 400 movies to choose from. read more

This is a beautiful 2 floor library and very large considering the fact that Mammoth Lakes is a very small ski town. Easy to find, parking is ample and the view from every direction is all mountain. Easy to register with the library if you have a library card from another state, if you are a permanent or temporary resident. I'm on a temporary duty assignment here and used my travel orders and itinerary to show that I'm living here for a short while. They library assistants are helpful if you haven't used a library in years. Easy to find your way around each area from biographies, sci fi, local books about the area, children's section, computers for internet and index searching. Checking out DVDs, Audio Books, periodicals and regular library reading material is a cynch. If an item isn't available, they will gladly put it on hold for you when it's returned and they will call you to let you know it's arrived. Library is nicely appointed with lots of sitting areas quietly located and private if you choose to be in solitude and they have plenty of room used for meeting space. It feels like a very friendly and welcoming environment. They offer weekly movies free to the public and have a calendar of events available for anyone interested in what's going on at the library all month. What a lovely library! It has a story time for little ones Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 am where we sang songs, read a story and a librarian lead in a craft (in this case making valentines). I was so impressed that a little town had such a great library. It is obviously very well cared for and a great spot. My son is easily bored and we spent two hours in the children's section which had puzzles, child friendly computers, various educational type toys, stuffed animals and of course tons of books - most impressively lots of spanish books. We will be back every time we visit! Oh, they have books they sell for $1-$3 and magazine for 10 cents! I picked up a few New Yorkers, what a bargain! read more

Who doesn't love the library?! Nice views of the mountains from the reading room. Cozy. I prefer working here to the cafes in town.

Love this library. For some reason Inyo county and Bishop libraries all have a one-hour wifi limit, not Mammoth, and the wifi is fast too. The library is well kept, inviting, spacious, friendly. Big reason we frequently return here for skiing and hiking. read more

This library is very nice, and I love to come here and study. The downfall is the children's center is extremely loud and disruptive in the middle of the library. A library should be quiet, in that I don't have to wear headphones to get anything done. The children's center definitely needs to be moved down stairs. read more
