I am not an exceptional typist, but I consider myself a palatable writer, conveying thoughts clearly using the current English language for a set purpose and as an informative reviewing instrument and if provoked, a weapon. Finding a story within every experience is my desire and using the characters I encounter to serve up some verbal animated fun. Let's start with Milt, the Florida Fast Times at Ridgemont High wanna be with a wig-ish looking sun beaten off dirty white Joe Dirt mullet. Not sure what was more disturbing to me, his teeth or the poorly phrased words that tumbled from behind those broken scummy chicklets. Didn't tell me anything about anything, where's the starter, are we early or on time, will the weather hold off? All of which I asked about, but at least I can now walk away from that busted grill and get on with my golf. Then a quick stop in the men's room and the stenches hit me like a ton of poopy bricks and as I spun for the exit holding my breath, I caught glimpses of a bathroom that's not been attended to in days. Cart guy looked so life beaten he could barely lift his chin to notice the $5.00 I tipped him for nothing other than the fact that his tip jar had only enough pennies to almost cover the plastic bottom. Poor guy in more ways than one, I felt terribly for him, not for Milton. The course is short with the one handicap hole being somewhat interesting with a quick turn right to a circular shallow green. The rest of the course was damp and chewed up on the fairways and around the greens with clumps of no grassy spots. Lift, Clean and Place was in play with so much constant muck on my ball and not a rain shower in days. So if your going to play here, just avoid all employees as best as you can and look at it as a day if practice if you get a good deal as I did on GolfNow. It's not the place to get excited about, the bunkers were in decent shape. read more

Last week the golf course personnel said our credit card was not being accepted so they had my husband try it 3 times. on the third try they said it worked. we found out it actually worked all three times and all three charges were debited from our bank account. my husband has been back 3 times and called 5 times and they say they cannot refund our money. We are out over $100 and the treatment we have received is absolutely inexcusable! Avoid dealing with these people at all cost. read more

I went into this experience very excited as my long distance girlfriend and I finally found the time to partake in a golf date. I paid an outrageous 106 for this course and was treated terribly, I reserved my tee time at 5:44 and then the cart guy rambled on for ten minutes about how I didn't pay Manatee county golf course then i presented the receipt which still didn't stop his yapping. I was told that talked to no one there which I think I would make sure to pay the right people as a broke college student. read more

The lady with the short white hair in her mid 70s told us we had to pay 130 dollars for a girl who just wanted to ride in the cart, threatened to kick us out/ off the course if she was found on the course even after she had left. We didn't even pay that much to golf... would not recommend. read more

I haven't played here in a while and was pleasantly pleased with the conditions of the fairways and the greens. There were no soggy spots on the course and the greens were fairly smooth and consistent. The staff was helpful and friendly. I enjoyed playing here...especially since I beat the boys today. We had a great day! The course honestly isn't in perfect shape, but it is cleverly designed with well-placed bunkers standing guard. Some days you want to drop a bundle and play sawgrass, sometimes you just want to play Manatee. We had great weather and good company, all you need for a Perfect round. Had to chime in on the other recent reviews of this place. I had avoided it since it was a muni but after playing 2 others in the area that were very disappointing we figured we go 9 and give it a try. The tee time was easy to make .... the place was full but well organized and the play moved right along and the rental clubs were decent. The best part .... the conditions .... grass in the fairway (I know .... but that wasn't the case on the 2 other courses !!) Greens in good shape and a very nice layout. The white tees are quite long but still ok and a good variety of water, sand and junk. One word of caution .... just when you think there are no gators a couple little guys splash in !! Try this place, it's worth it ! read more

Golf course is in terrible condition. Should be worth $20 max. Used to be in good shape but it has gotten bad. Not worth it.

In regards to affordable golf, this is the best option I've seen so far in Bradenton. The course conditions, staff, and layout are great for the price. The pace of play was great for late afternoon on a Friday. Tee boxes could use a little work, but fairways and greens are solid. Overall, really enjoyed it and recommend. read more

Went to play Manatee on a Saturday morning as a single wanting to play with anyone. The pro shop had threesomes and some two some that I could play with in the hour. I watched as each of these groups teed off. Each time asking the pro shop if I could join each time they said I was next I waited 1-1/2 hour and now the men's league was about to start, the next opening was around noon. Manatee is not a accommodating club if you want to play golf without a tee time I recommend Bobby Jones 10 minutes away They got me on the course in ten minutes with a group of three Lots of fun read more

Played on June 16, 2017 and paid $18 for nine holes. The fairways are all a patch of dirt / mud, the tee boxes are all temporary, and there are huge bare spots on every green, and the rough is a combination of randomly mown crab grass, Bermuda and St. Augustine. This used to be a very nice course when I played here 15 years ago. Now it might be the worst course I've ever played. Stay away. read more

horrible experience first time here and won't come back, i was in group, played 18 holes, was told twice to hurry it up, no one else but my group am no where new a pro, but am not a beginner either, so it will take time, and when you have group it does take longer, told the hannah, at the front, about the official person that came to us, and she got rude with us, saying there is 4 hour play time, to keep with "pace" and she said doesn't matter if you single or in a group, she then said they are busy and that it's the cart guy that tells people when to start and go out and tell me to hurry up, if they are busy then why isn't someone watching the time, like i said i won't come back, never again. not to mention, the tee's and green are horrible, holes all over and sand to cover the holes, question is why does the green has holes, you using a putter not a backhoe, i see why it's 2.7 even more when it's $25 a person. read more

No course marshal and 11 minute headways leads to a very poorly run course. We gave up waiting for terribly slow play after 12 holes. Many of the greens were mottled and in rough condition. The cart garage is manned by rude and/or indifferent old men. The County should step in and make changes asap. read more

I almost didn't play this course based on reviews here. Don't make that mistake! I belong to a nice private club and while this isn't that it is a great public course and a really a good deal. My favorite public golf course closest to Longboat Key. I have been a customer for the past eight years. My rounds during the season average 4 hrs - starting times between 8 and 9 am. Greens are in good shape and the grounds staff is working hard to fix some of the past course issues. Food is good and the kitchen always has a daily special with a beer. Men's senior tees are 5500 yds. Most holes allow for bump and run. Toughest holes are 4 and 16. Hole 9 is my favorite - par 5 dogleg right. And yes, they have alligators. Along with turtles, herons, cranes and osprey. read more

Came here at the end of December. I graduated with a bachelor degree in golf course management so that does 2 things when I play a course. 1. I recognize the hard work and understand that everything can't be perfect all the time. 2. I recognize laziness and inefficiencies. I walked into the pro shop with no one else there to check in. Two women behind the desk and not even a hello, one moment or how can I help you so I just stood there at the counter while they talked and organized things. So I thought well maybe I'll get a coffee and come back in a little bit. That's where he fun started. We got a bucket of balls and headed to the range. Of course the designated hitting spot was completely torn up while the rest of he massive tee box was in decent shape. The greens were in bad shape. Some had 20% bare spots. Cutting height was approaching a quarter inch (.250) and the cups weren't changed (it was a Monday) so obviously putting wasn't a part of the day. Tee boxes with crazy long grass and tee markers removed and placed to side of the box. Ranger was watching us like a hawk just waiting for his chance to tell us to keep up but we never gave him a chance because we were the best golfers that course saw all weekend. We get we aren't members but a little effort after paying $60 would have been nice. Won't be back. read more

Played here today and had a wonderful time.played with a family of 3 ,who were good golfers and pleasant company.the course is in good shape .it is a typical Florida course.it is pretty wide open,giving you plenty of room to swing away.you have to be careful though,because there are mangroves and ponds all around.discretion is the better part of valor on this course.the clubhouse told us that water only comes into play on a few holes,don't believe him.water is a concern on many holes.the greens were elevated and putting was nice.the sand in the traps is good sand,no rocks or pebbles.the price is right and the staff friendly.pace can be a little slow,but I was here on vacation so I didn't mind.there are 4 tees plus a tee for families,which I thought was cool.i liked the course and want to play here again now that I am familiar with the layout.the only drawback is that the-back nine forms around a water treatment plant,it can be a bit stinky,but only for a few holes.overall I say this place is alright,just keep it in the fairway. read more
