Instead, the guide told our 6-year-old there was an alligator in the water when there wasn't one. Our child was terrified and in tears. Scaring young kids for cheap thrills is not entertainment -- it's irresponsible. A guide's job is to make families feel safe while enjoying the experience, not to traumatize children. We would not recommend this for anyone with small kids. Extremely disappointed.

Our guide, Tyler, was so fun and made sure all of us had the best spot to have clear water and positive encounters with the Manatees. He also made sure we were safe, had pictures and videos. A really nice and thoughtful person. Our captain was Captain Randy. He was very knowledgeable, kind and fun. He made sure we had hot beverages after we got out of the water! He was a very experienced captain. William was loved by the baby Manatee so much. It constantly sought him. It was adorable. Our guide, Tyler, had a really close encounter with the Manatee nibbling his facial hair! Lol. The whole experience, we maintained our instructions to not touch the Manatees. They could touch us, but was had to stay still and be respectful. The Crystal River Community is doing everything they can to protect the Manatees and educate us humans how to respect them. We booked the day before during the tail end of manatee season for an AM kayak tour. Best decision ever. The later the day runs the more people do the tours. Weekdays are better than weekends. But our tour guide (young lady I didn't catch her name) was wonderful. She's a local to Crystal river. Told us all the ins and outs of Crystal river. How they were affected by hurricane helene. How they are rebuilding and recovering. It was so refreshing and we saw so many manatees. We took our time and enjoyed every ounce of this tour. We scouted so many different wildlife. Would absolutely do this again but in the November-February season as that's when the manatees retreat to the springs!

She also has a wedding chapel upstairs that's adorable. For about $90 we got a 2 hour tour to swim with the manatees (wetsuit and gear included). For a little more we also got to use kayaks after we had lunch to rest from our manatees tour. The boys took us out on the boats. We had 6 people per boat which was awesome because neighboring tours cram 20-30 folks on their boats. All while hurdling them like cattle and barking orders at them like school children. We were able to find all the spots the manatees preferred for mating , eating and sleeping. It was truly magical to have such amazing beasts swim and brush past you. The boys were very knowledgeable of everything about the manatees and even the area. I will return.
