This was our first time eating here having moved to the area 6 months ago. We were looking for a new "go too" Chinese restaurant we found it.... The food was amazing and portions are big. The owner came out and chatted with us to make sure everything was okay. That's a nice touch when the people actually care that their customers are happy. Service was also outstanding and food arrived quickly. I hope locals and visitors to the area will give this place a try, you won't be sorry and will be back. Mandarin House has a fresh look under new management, new furniture, new flooring, cleaner vibe. Parking downtown is still a headache, but once you're inside the staff is patient, polite, and quick to move. I ordered the chicken curry lunch special, spicy. It came fast, with a side of egg soup. The chicken was tender, the veggies mixed in, onions, carrots, even bell peppers, which felt out of place. But the curry itself? Thin, watery, dark, and almost flavorless. No spice, no punch, just sauce sliding around the plate. The pork fried rice was clumped and mushy, darker than usual but without the soy flavor its color promised. The noodles were passable, soft, but forgettable. The plate was overflowing, rice and noodles spilling over the edges. Some call that generous. To me, it felt sloppy. Mandarin House has potential, and maybe this is just their style of curry. Every Asian restaurant has its own rhythm, its own way of cooking. But for me, this wasn't it. The staff was kind, the price point on lunch combos is fair, and my coworkers swear by them. But the food didn't deliver. read more

Exiter is a gen and the Mandarin House is one of the things that make it so. This quaint little Chinese restaurant is clean, welcoming, and charming, just like the town itself. Our server, Joann, was excellent. While busy and understaffed on the night we dined, she made us feel like we were her only customers (friendly, fast, and frequently attentive). We enjoyed the pork, fried rice, the orange chicken, and the sweet-and-sour chicken (each were delicious). The egg rolls were surprisingly good, too. read more

100% GO HERE!! They were not busy when we went, but based on the flavor and portions, they should be packed! Very delicious!! We got the crab rangoons, orange chicken dinner combo and the beef and snow peas. They gave us some of the daily soup as well, and we enjoyed that as well! Everything tasted amazing, and would definitely go back if we are in the area again. I visited the China Inn in Tulare, California. I asked for a certain item and was told that they did not make that item but their sister company in Exeter called the Mandarin house did and sent me their. Once we arrived, we were greeted at the door by the owner and a manager. They were very polite and seated as quickly we didn't ask for what we ordered at the China Inn in Tulare, and the owner came up and talked to me, referring that he did in fact, Nate a certain dish that I was asking for which was a pan fried noodle. The food was amazing for the first time in over 20 years. I got to sit down and eat a dish of food that took me all the way back to the last time I had such a good dinner out of Chinese restaurant. The restaurant was very clean. Staff was very friendly. Meal was very good. I have to say without a doubt. This was one of the best places I ever been to the owners name is Tony my name is Michael Barragan and again like I said an amazing place to eat at the Mandarin house in Exeter California. Everyone cares and does a great job at this new place. My wife and I had a great meal here for the second time. Tony, the owner, knows how to take care of his vegetarian guests - making sure the sauces have no animal products in them. So far, we have had the veg chow mein, Honey Walnut Tofu, and Tofu stir fry/Bean Cake in Brown Sauce. Generous portions! Each dish both flavorful and attractively served by Joann. So glad we tried this place again! Under new ownership since early January 2026 and they are already nailing it! Service was amazing! The Ambiance is very welcoming. The owner, Le Tony, is very personable and made sure he greeted everyone and checked on them frequently. Food was probably among the best Chinese food I have ever tasted! Under the new ownership of Le Tony, the newly renovated Mandarin House has established a refreshing and modern approach to Chinese cuisine. I have tried something different every visit, and the food is consistently delicious--never a disappointment! I recommend this restaurant without hesitation, especially the honey walnut shrimp, sweet chili chicken wings and the spicy pork chops. It is definitely a must-try!
