But everything turned out better than I could have hoped and I couldn't recommend these girls more! Sarah did my makeup trail and day of makeup. I really appreciated that she asked questions about how I normally wear makeup and listened to the feedback I had between the trail and day of makeup. Galy did my day of hair style and I was very impressed. I showed her a picture of what I was thinking and giver her some pins I wanted to use and it turned out better than the example photo! Both hair and makeup stayed in place all day through the wedding shenanigans and I am so thankful I had these girls help make my vision come to life!! read more

I saw this place next to Ulta in an old defunct mall in Boone. It is very small salon and waiting room in outside salon in mall corridor. I called and made an appointment for cut and color without inquiring on price or "status" of hair stylist and they were not forthcoming that this appointment is with a "master stylist" - who was very young. Buyer beware $100 for a root touch up and $75 cut! Those prices in my many years of color are in line with a salon owner or very seasoned stylist. This is not a name brand salon with a high end product such as Aveda, Redken or Paul Mitchell. While the stylist did a good job it is not sustainable to continue going there with those prices. read more

Today was my second time in Boone getting my hair done. The first time I went to Haircut 101 and was ashamed of their tableside etiquette. When I posted about needing a haircut and color and my previous terrible experience with salons in Boone, Amber's name came up a lot and she also messaged me to assure me that she would be the perfect artist. She talked about how she is an inclusive artist and very judgment-free. Being hesitant due to my last Boone Experience I took the plunge and booked a consolation which cleared my nerves a bit. And booked an appointment then after. ~~~~WOW AM I GLAD I DID!!~~~ I had a basic idea of what I thought I would like done with my hair and Amber really brought that all to life! This was the most comfortable experience at a hair salon I have had in a long time. She provided a very comfortable experience and great conversation. I did not even realize how fast the appointment flew by and it was about 3 hours that felt so quick! I also got my ear pierced the day before being wild and she was very careful when doing my hair to make sure not to irritate it and to make sure I was comfortable the whole time. This was the first time in a long time when I looked at myself in my mirror after getting home and I genuinely loved what I was looking at. She really brought my hair to life and I really feel so beautiful. I am super thankful that I took the plunge and messaged her back to get this hair journey started. If you are looking for a place to get your hair done I recommend this place highly. I saw one person get extensions and WOW those were done amazing! Another person got their lashes done which also looked so good! I was also seeing two of the other artists braiding, All the work I saw in those 3 hours I was there was AMAZING! Was this place a little pricey? Maybe a tad, BUT you are getting really great work done, and you're honestly paying for the great work that they are doing and the overall amazing service. I do not mind paying that price for how great the service was and how wonderful I am looking after. So what I am saying is you are MOST DEFINITELY getting your money worth at this salon. If that is what is making you hesitate from booking, I am telling you ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!! I already booked my next appointment (which I never do at a salon) for my vacation trip and am already excited to see what Amber can do next! I took my dtrs here for the first time and my younger dtr came out in tears saying "She hurt me!" Not only that, but neither girls looked like they had their hair cut. When I told the front desk about the experience, they offered for my youngest to come back in and get her hair cut, but there was no way she was going to go back into that salon. They charged me full price. Never again. Also, if you are sensitive, the salon is crowded with chairs right next to each other and it's really loud. Not a great experience at all. read more

I got my hair cut and colored here 2 years ago and I still cannot believe I paid $200 + TIP for the WORST haircut I have ever received in my entire life. I was new to the Boone area and came here because of the good reviews, I have curly hair and was recommended Galy as my stylist. I had grown out blonde highlights and wanted to go back to my natural dark blonde color. I have very fine & thin hair texture and she recommended I get a curly cut, essentially a bunch of layers to add some volume and bring out more of my texture. My hair was about shoulder length and I wanted to keep the majority of my length because my hair takes a very long time to grow. Galy messed up my hair so bad I cried as soon as I left the salon. The layers she put in my hair were so choppy and made my ends look so thin, not to mention she cut off half of my length, I could not believe it when she turned the chair around. It was too late to say she took off too much because the deed was already done and half of my hair was on the floor. The color was not terrible but the cut was so bad I couldn't even like the color. I came in with wispy bangs and she cut them so thick I looked like edna mode. She literally gave me a Karen cut. Do not come here or go to Galy she knows nothing about how to properly cut hair and completely ruined my self-esteem and how I felt about my hair. It took me a whole year to grow out. read more

We were told that it would take two hours and 150 an hr to deliver natural brown hair with magenta streaks to hair that was previously highlighted blonde with about 8 inches of new virgin growth. The hair turned out purple with a completely pink scalp. Sarah Bledsoe charged her $600 and when questioned, the owner who wasn't even there called the police. What is wrong with these people??? This is fraud. Don't go to this salon. Terrible hairdresser and horrible people. read more

I am extremely picky about my hair. Was very worried when I first got there and the person taking care of me was new and nervous. But have no fear. Two other stylists helped out and showed her how to make my layers. What an amazing job Ashlee did!!! I love my hair and it looks awesome! read more

WORST salon experience ever. My experience at Mane Habit Salon was less than satisfactory to say the least. I went to a consultation to discuss what I was trying to achieve with my hair, and they assured me it was doable to give my hair a rose gold color with a particular service. After my appointment, my hair looked the exact same as my natural color. I emailed the owner about a refund, and she informed me that she knew the color wasn't going to show up in my hair and accused me of forgetting that she told me this and accused me of being under the influence of drugs. I got a toner in my hair here as well as a hair cut. The toner turned out really well, but the hair cut did not. I asked for it to be around my collar bones or lower, and she cut it up above my shoulders. I did not want my hair this short and it was also very uneven. I did not realize how uneven it was until I got home, so I had to have my roommate cut some of one side. I would recommend this place for color, but I did not get a good haircut. read more

I've been going to amber at mane habit since February and let me tell you. She is the best. I wanted to start the process of going light with balayage. The first time I got it she made it very clear to me that I wasn't going to achieve what I was going for the first go round without my hair being fried, which I understood because I had literally almost black hair, we got it lightened and she gave me the most beautiful dimensional brunette color, went back for a tone a couple months later, and yesterday I got another balayage and I could not be happier, the tones, the cut, the lift everything was so perfect. The prices may be a bit high but you pay for what you get and I'd much rather pay a bit more every 4 or so months to have a nice grow out, blonde that lasts and for something that I actually love, not something mediocre. They have the best and sweetest staff ever, they're all so personable and easy to talk to. read more
