Even though there's a large African American community in Toledo Ohio there is not a lot of actual beauty shops that specialize in African-American hair. Yeah you can find someone on style seat that may or may not have a beautician's license but if you're looking for an actual shop good luck. So I made this appointment the first time about a week in advance and asked when was less busy time to come because most shops like this book people two to three at a time. To my surprise I came in and I was the only one there at the time of my appointment. Unfortunately there was a rude person that came in complaining about some braids she got done a week or so ago and insisted on getting her hair fixed right now. My beautician actually asked me if it was okay for her to fix her few braids that turned into an hour and a half later. This person was very belligerent so I really didn't want to get into it about it so I told her go ahead. To my surprise after she got done with my hair she gave me $20 off the style that I got for being patient. I really appreciated that because other shops in town don't really care and will charge you full price or over full price. So the next visit I made an appointment a week ahead again and I did not have more than a 10 minute wait for someone to braid my hair. They are not the quickest folks in town as far as braiding but they do a fine job and the prices are on par with everyone else in town. I will be back

Hopes that Toledo may actually be a place to hang out and not just feel scared to leave your house. Having come from Seattle, WA where I was going to an extensions Goddess, I hadn't even come close to a salon being able to give me half of what I had loved and gotten used to. Janelle, the owner, had given me a quote and was willing to work with my existing (fairly new) extensions that I paid a pretty penny for before I left. She installed a new piece as well. I was in the chair for several hours, but was pleased overall with the attention, the service and her expertise. She wasn't chair hopping either, so you actually have the attention you need. I went to her another time months later for a mini-move up. The last time I was here, Dylan took care of me. Also, thorough, with lots of Q & A , he was able to achieve great results. I very much appreciated his attention to detail (ie. the scalp massage in between touching up my highlights while my extensions were out). If you had ever had braces taken off, then you know that feeling of non being able to stop licking your smooth teeth. That is what I equate his scalp massage too. There are no other words. I noticed a spot of hair by my money piece that was a bit too bright, and before I let it bother me, he added extra toner to make it blend in better. It's now been several weeks of grow out, but my extensions are still in, none of the beads are broken, and it's not too heavy or pulling on my scalp. This is a pricey salon, but you do get what you pay for!
