Great location, food was ok. I had the linguini with lamb meatballs. The meatballs were delicious, but the linguini was way overcooked. The 2 stars are not for that reason... I had breakfast there too the following day and the waiter told an Australian family that the service was not included on their bill and was able to pull an extra €18 on top of their bill. He thought I didn't understand English as I'm French. He was so persuasive that I questioned myself that perhaps the laws in France changed and prices no longer reflect service. Drinks are overpriced and service is mediocre. The manager just wants to make money and does not care about the customers. Also, do not try to charge your phone there, the staff there doesn't brief you well on how you're going to get charged and when you ask for explanations, they just pretend to listen and just ignore you. First place I found on Yelp near my AirBnB that seemed welcoming, after five hours in a covoiturage truck with two strangers. Plus, there was room for my two (carryon size, still heavy) luggage. Seems I want the only one with the same idea, as several people with luggage were parked nearby. I'd say that if you don't speak French well, you're treated differently. Not bad, just.. You're not part of the in crowd. Staff will speak English to you if they can, but the non-English speakers will ignore your table completely. I didn't have this issue, yet noticed it with other travelers. I found the food excellent (Manfred burger!) if pricey. I was left alone for as long as I wanted after to savor my tea, and I loved that. Staff suggested I sit elsewhere because my table wobbled... Thank you. Smokers have their own space at the entrance, separate from the rest. Nice... I might come back here? The cafe has the quintessential Parisienne look with rows of seating outside to people watch as well as ample seating inside. We ordered three different offerings: omelette mix, breakfast sandwich and eggs Benedict and everyone was very happy. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Typical French menu items with a few special additions. The food was absolutely delicious and arrived so fresh. However, the highlight of this restaurant is definitely the amazing customer service. The waitstaff were so considerate and kind and the food arrived so quickly. Yelp is currently indicating Manfred is "not good for kids", but we had a good lunch experience there with our 9 and 12 year olds. In particular, our daughter has a peanut and tree nut allergy, and they were very accommodating. Even though the staff only spoke some English, as soon as we handed them a French-language allergy card, they swung into action, proactively helping us figure out what she could and couldn't eat. More generally, all the food we ordered was very good (I ordered the meat-and-cheese board appetizer, and it was enough for my entire lunch), and the service was friendly and prompt. read more

Overpriced mediocre at best food. The burger was all bread and the fries were cold. The worst service I've head in Paris by a long shot.

This was truly the worst breakfast experience we have ever had. We sat down and it took over 10 min for someone to take our order. The food didnt come out after 40 min and then they tried to serve what looked like a bowl of soup as undercooked scrambled eggs. We got up and left. Incompetence at an all time high. I hate to be so rough on this place because I want to love it, but it's just not there. Every time I passed Manfred, the decor was calling to me, it looks so fun, and delicious and like a great place to hang out. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed when I finally went. The menu options were numerous and all pretty tempting, but the salad that I ordered looked like it was thrown together with Carrefour ingredients in 20 seconds, and with a fairly hefty price tag I expected a bit more presentation. We enjoyed this place. I saw a photo of the Manfred burger (served with an egg) before I left home, and as this was near our hotel we dropped in the first night we were in Paris. Was a tasty burger and I thought the place had nice ambiance and friendly staff who were helpful despite our lack of fluency in French. We had several meals at Manfred during our stay in Paris, and we loved it! The ambiance is great, perfect outtdoor seats for people watching. Highlights included the risotto, the duck, hamburger (according to husband),the escargot, the Manveg salad, and the chocolate mousse. Oh yeah, and we drank some wine and espresso. Manfred is the best place in the neighbourhood for a late dinner, snack or drink. It's actually our "it's late, fridge's empty, what do we do" place. The food is great, the ambiance relaxed, and the price really good compared to the other bars or restaurants on rue de Bretagne.
