Mang Binatog, yes this is different from Mr. Binatog, sells, well, Binatog. For people who have no clue, Binatog is a snack. If the person who told me is right, then this particular flavor of Pinoy came from the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio.
When I was in Baguio my sister and father found a man trolling along the streets selling binatog. They walked right up to it eager to give it a try. I for one had little to no clue what it was but nevertheless gave it a shot out of curiosity. I did not regret it.
Binatog is basically corn, condensed milk, butter (depending on who's selling and buying), sugar, and coconut, though I prefer to take the last one out. There's also the variety where they add salt instead of sugar.
Mang Binatog is great, because it brings the Baguio treat here to the Metro. I no longer have to go all the way to Baguio just to have a cup. Plus it's cheap so plus points for that. read more
