I forgot how awesome this beach was. It's one of the better beaches in New York. The shores are a little rocky but for the most part it's not that bad. The tides stayed low most of the day, so it turned out to be a great day. The life guards were few but the ones that were there were on alert. This beach is not a large one, but it was just right for my family of five, and some other family members we met there. They have a local park nearby, they have an area for BBQ, and plenty of tables and benches for you to just hang out by or near the beach. They have a large food concession area, if you want to purchase some food or drink items. They close shop early though. It was an ice cream truck nearby. It's just a really nice place to hang out even if you don't want to go to the beach. The bathrooms were clean. They have staff constantly on standby to keep the bathrooms clean. People were really having a good time relaxing and enjoying themselves. The neighborhood is also one to be in Awe, because they have and are continuing to build such luxury homes. Looks like homes from out of Bel-Air lol. Anyway if you haven't been here it's one I would recommend. - Thumbs up for me. read more

Talk about two words that seemingly do not go well together, whose thinking "beach" certainly can not be making reference or thought flows to the limestone foundation of the concrete summer sweat box of Manhattan's surly streets, and that's in the good weather. "Worst pronoun ever" Comic Book Guy - The Simpsons. Walking in from parking near the pretentious embassies which won't be making the cover of Architectural Digest anytime soon as I see it, but the construction might look good somewhere in some distant land. But the striking irony is in fifty feet, the grassroots grow from every nook that faces the sun and the water from curb to sand. The entrance needs desperately to be weeded and not with the Monsanto death bomb called Roundup, for the sake of the kids there must be a safe alternative. All sections suffer overgrowth, basketball courts, slides and swings, restrooms and picnic benches and pizza boxes, cans and bottles, straws and Sweet N Low packets -- we are a squirrels dream. I sat to read a little from a book called SIN, given to me by a friend who thinks I need some attoning, the book is over 100 years old and almost split in half once I opened it, interesting read none the less, that classic old English really gets me excited. The beach water was so still, like a glass sheen with one oversized body surfacing and then resubmerging and I pictured Jason Voorhees pulling him under for eternity. With eleven Friday the 13ths include Jason Takes Manhattan (worst Friday the 13th ever) why not Jason Takes Manhattan Beach? He's been to outer space ya know. Concrete boarders the sand in a reverse C shape and the older Ruskies walk it with style in droopy water wear in aging sagging parts which isn't the most attractive thing to view, but i respect their moxy. The sand is gravely and damp, like walking in a cheap fish tank so placing a cotton blanket down results in a quickly wet bottom to wear around. It sure sounds like I had an experience worthy of less stars but it's not the picture I'm attempting to paint. For Brooklyn, it's better than Plum Beach which is next in my review line of fire, so buckle up for that one. read more

If you're a fan of the beach it is a nice place to go. The beach is pretty clean but I wouldn't get in the water.

Nah, for real though, this is one of my favorite beaches. It is so quaint, quiet, and beautiful. I truly loved it here. Other humans in the vicinity gave everyone their space and it had a nice and comfortable vibe. Out of all my years in BK, I did not even realize such a place existed and was so happy to have had the experience. A great thing about this beach is that it is absolutely clean, and from what I could see... there was some construction being done-- so there should be some new restrooms open to the public soon. I did not experience the water, because I was indeed giving it the side eye due to its color ( I'm used to that turquoise blue) but others seemed to enjoy it. Highly recommend it. read more

CASH ONLY PARKING FOR $22 ON THE WEEKENDS Yes, you read that right. That alone was a major reason why I removed a star. I've been coming here for YEARS, and they really have some balls to keep the prices as high as they are. But, they truly do have you by the balls - good luck looking for non-existent street parking, and if you do, you're blocks away. With the amount of stuff I carry to the beach, using public transport is out of the question. HOWEVER - the pricing is literally crowd control. The beach is clean, and the water was really beautiful last weekend. Yes, as more people get in the water, the water does get filled with garbage. If people would clean after themselves, this wouldn't be an issue. This beach is small and private, and there's a good lifeguard presence on the weekends. It's got everything you need for a full day out in the sun - bathrooms, lockers, showers, bbqs, picnic tables, a full concession stand, and a decent ramp for the disabled. Although I hate the Belt Parkway, I will only take it to come here. read more

I typically don't frequent Brooklyn beaches but if I had to, this would definitely be my pick. Parking is EXPENSIVE. $20 for the day, but definitely convenient since street parking is a no-go around here. It does get crowded on the weekends which is to be expected, but I think this is one of the more tame BK beach locations. You'll definitely see a lot of families here. The water? It's NYC. What do you expect? But I will say that this beach is SO much cleanser than Coney Island. If you're gonna risk it all by going in the water, Manhattan Beach is the place in BK to do it. read more

I just discovered this beach: Long Beach is my favorite beach but this Summer the LIRR construction put a damper on visiting it. What normally takes an hour to get there took close to two. I've Ubered to this beach and on a good day it takes 15 minutes on a traffic day about thirty minutes. As far as convenience, it's extremely close to Bay Ridge. As far as it being a great beach..well.. here's my perspective: Good for families as there are picnic tables on premises for barbecuing and gatherings. Food: extremely limited. There is a mini food place that sells the usual burgers and hot dogs, etc. There is also a mini Carvel. However, charging $3.50 for a Good Humor ice cream bar is a bit much especially when $3.50 buys you a box of six bars at the supermarket just bring them in a cooler. Best to bring your own or visit nearby restaurants The water: the color is meh The sand: not white but at least it's cleaner than Coney Island. Space: extremely small but the days I visited wasn't extremely crowded thus seems spacious Restrooms: just close your eyes, let's just say they could keep it tidier Parking: there is a parking lot Transportation: B1 and B49 gets you to the beach, in front of the entrance however Bay Ridgeites prepare for an hour trip since the bus is LOCAL Train: Q to Sheepshead Bay and about a mile to walk Uber is the most practical for me, $9 both ways The positive is on a weekday it's very peaceful On the weekends a little rowdy. Great little beach tucked away in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood. If you're one of the lucky ones who live nearby, then it's only a short walk away. For those who need to drive here, unfortunately, there is no street parking allowed in the neighborhood from May 15 - September 15 on weekends so be prepared to park a bit further way, specifically across from the bay area. As for the beach? It is never extremely crowded (like the more popular Coney Island area) and there's plenty of space to lay out and get your tan on! Also, what's great about this small beach is that it's family friendly with plenty of groups all around, especially in the picnic area. The picnic area, located at the entrance of the beach, allows for bbqing and mass group gatherings. In addition, there's a small water playground on the premises for kids. Like I said, there's not much to this beach. It's comparably smaller than all of the neighboring beaches. If you're looking for a more intimate beach and MUCH MUCH smaller crowds then Manhattan Beach is definitely the way to go. read more

Food Section - Great selection of various things to eat such as hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, french fries etc...The hot dogs and french fries are delicious! 2.) Carvel Ice Cream- I cannot get enough of eating a carvel vanilla ice cream sundae with fresh strawberries! 3.) The beautiful view. I love coming to the beach here because it is a little less busy than Brighton, but the surrounding area is usually much more packed. The nice thing about Manhattan beach is that you can actually BBQ here! Typically on beach weekends there is amazing smells going on from the various BBQ pits. If you want to cook, get here early because it fills up fast. They have designated bins to discard your used charcoal, which is a plus. The beach itself is much much smaller than Brighton, but usually it's not as busy. There is lot parking that differs from the weekday to weekend during beach time. Don't park on the street, there are signs everywhere posted no street parking from May 15-Sept 15. Don't take a chance. They ticket quickly. Next to the actual beach area is plenty of seating as well as a playground for the kids. They have showers and restrooms as well. read more

I haven't been here in years but I remember this being the best beach in Brooklyn. Back in high school days like 09 I remember being able to park on the streets if you can find one. I'm not sure what new rules took place but now parking in the lot is mandatory and there is a whopping $25 fee. For a beach in New York it is pretty clean. It wasn't crowded,I didn't see any litter on the sand or the surrounding area and the water was the same bluish brown water that I remember from senior cut day. If you been out the country you would probably never want to get in any water in NYC again but its a good place if you wanna take your kids and let them have a good time in the summer. read more

Prior to my recent visit, I had not been to Manhattan beach in years. It honestly didn't even look too familiar when I arrived here. I was able to snag a parking spot on the street by the entrance so I didn't have to pay for parking. It wasn't crowded because it was a Tuesday evening so there were a good amount of picnic tables and spots on the beach to choose from. We ran straight into the cloudy brown water and were greeted by debris and little rocks along the perimeter. After the initial shock, we started to have a good time. Definitely not my fave NYC beach but it was a good beach to take the little kids to because it is pretty swallow. I won't be back anytime soon but it would be a good place for a family fun day. read more

Very convenient for me to get to, and always a lot of fun. I used to ride my bike all the way down here, but with this heat it's easier to just hop on the train. If I'm not napping on the beach, or jumping in the water to escape the heat, I'm people watching on the boardwalk. Lots of friendly people around. You can get in on a game of soccer, football, or even volleyball if you're capable. Don't be the drunken out of shape guy who ruins the game either. Actually just don't be drunk on the beach. It's too hot out there for all that. Today it's supposed to be 96 degrees, and I want nothing to do w/this air conditioner. I'm going to get in the water & wade w/the floaters. read more

3.5 stars. I like this beach for all its own reasons. No, the sand isn't powder white. And no, you can't see your feet through the water but it's a lot cleaner, quieter and nicer than Coney Island (I've only passed by). It's east from Brighton Beach but smaller, more intimate. There is one concession stand that sells a pretty good selection of food (boardwalk fast food) such as hot dogs, chicken fingers, knishes, soda, water, beer/twisted tea, Carvel ice cream and even sunscreen. All at a reasonable price. I've come here a few times this summer and for me, it's a calming oasis. I love beaches as they offer tranquility and an overall sense of relaxation. Manhattan Beach (depending where you're traveling from) is a bit of a trek. For me, it's one train and a bus or about 1 hour 15 min. Still, I like it and it never feels overwhelmingly crowded. There's also basketball courts, picnic/BBQ area and parking space. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet. It works for me. read more

This is the best beach in New York City. Unfortunately you have to pay a large amount of money to use their parking lot if you come in with the car and you're not allowed to park on the streets on the weekends because this neighborhood is only for millionaires. The difference when you come here is that it's a small beach and it has men's and women's bathrooms and changing areas and an outside shower. There is also place to buy Hot dogs and ice cream and hamburgers right on the beach This beach is a lot better than Brighton beach and Coney Island because it's kept clean . it's just a nice place to spend the day at the beach but you have to come up with the money and to get here you can take the subway and then the B1 bus. It gets very crowded on the weekend so get here early or the parking lot will be full. read more

2-3 stars.. but I'm feeling in a 2 star mood on this one. Manhattan Beach....... I went here about 3 times in my life....... I like it because I can be half naked in the blazing sun... but from my experience.. it is dirty. Dirty and too rowdy for me. I'm a calm spirit and that beach has too much drama at times. The sand is whatever.... THE BATHROOMS!!!! GOTTT DAMN!!!! I might as well piss on the floor. The WATER!!!!!! GOTT DAMN!! as I stepped through the dry sand heading to the wet part.. I looked up and as I looked up about 800 meters out I see 4 oil rigs just sitting there. WTF? The water was and is filthy! I'll never go back here for this beach.. If I do go back to Manhattan Beach for an event I will not be entering the water. If I'm hot I'll go to the showers. read more

Considering it is a beach located within the 5 Boroughs, I will not give it 1 star. But do yourself a favor: If it is the weekend, any weekend between June and December, find other beaches. Unless you are into crowded beaches. So crowded that sometime you can't even see the sand. If it is a weekday, it will do. What a little slice of unexpected heaven! I'm still a fan of the Rockaways, and Coney and Brighton have their "charm", so to speak (i.e. - large crowds, loud music, as much weed smoke as you can handle, and eventually unappealing overall bawdiness), but Manhattan Beach is in a category of its own. Surprisingly easy to get to, it's a hop, skip, and jump away from the Q train to the eastbound B1 bus. (A mere 90 minutes from my place in Washington Heights! HURRAY!) Walk through a playground and a picnic area with large families roasting hamburgers and marshmallows on charcoal grills, and you enter a very nice horseshoe shaped cove, punctuated by a rock jetty, blue waters sparkling with the Rockaways and Breezy Point across the bay. The sand isn't perfect, but by New York City standards, it's comparable to the freaking Hamptons. It's secluded in terms of it's not connected to any other beaches; you've got a ways to walk westbound if you want to get to the boardwalks again. That's part of the appeal to me, I feel: This isn't a beach for tourists. This is a beach for locals. I like that. There were a few rabble-rousers, but you'll find that at any beach. I've found the crowd to be very pleasant and family-oriented. Note: BRING FOOD! They have a subpar concession stand with overpriced EVERYTHING, and the variety ain't nones too good. Hamburger. Hot dog. Fries. Pretzels. Ice cream. Chicken fingers. Bud Light. All are marked up about 64827293890135718902321% percent (rough estimate). A cooler full of iced cold water, fruit, sandwiches, chips, and a few brews is absolutely worth it. read more

Trashy beach meaning lots of trash on the beach -- broken glass, plastic bags, chicken bones and wrappers of all sorts -- and it makes its way into the water everyone! Do you want to swim in trash? Some people don't mind, but I do. The water is dark, very dark. I wonder if people even go out far enough to piss. Police patrol the area for alcohol, so beware. read more

Located in south Brooklyn and within walking distance from Coney island beach you will find this small beach. It's small but it gets crowded and it's also very clean and safe. Compared to coney island beach this is almost perfect. Police officers from the nypd patrol here so it's very safe, even though you get some rift rafts who venture over from coney island. The beach itself is pretty clean for the most part, well except the restrooms, but that's usually a given. You also have a park where you can bbq, read a book or just relax. They also have a small snack area where you can purchase dogs, burgers and drinks. Parking is a pain, you can park in the lot for a fee but don't park on the street unless your a resident. You will be ticketed and possibly towed. There are public transportation options such as the bus or subway. If you do come to this beach please help keep it clean and don't pee in the water. read more

Nice NYC beach within reach of public transportation. I like Rockaway, Coney and Brighton OK, but this place is much more family-oriented and not as crowded. There's no "scene" here, just people with their kids looking to have fun at the beach. Sure it's not pristine but come on people, this is the city. You can't expect a wildlife refuge. Definitely bring your own food and drink even if it's sandwiches in a cooler. The hot dogs, while not outrageous at $3 each, are nasty. And unless you want to pay $5 for Bud Light, BYO. Parking costs $20 and there's no street parking May-September, so consider the Q and the B1 bus as an alternative. Still a quick trip from most of Brooklyn. read more

Ok... I'll keep this as brief as possible. You don't come here to enjoy the wonderful clear blue water and piña coladas. The little shop sells hotdogs burgers Budweiser and nachos chicken fingers n fries... All pretty sub par, and they have the nerve to close it down at 4 and ONLY take cash. Like honestly who doesn't take cards in this day and age? I won't even discuss how criminal the price of parking is. I only go in the middle of the week, the two times I went this summer, I was fortunate to find street parking. I recommend you get bottled soda, cups, ice, and sandwiches from a. Store. Don't go for the overpriced food at the stand. Just sneak your own beer and liquor but be mindful for the cops that consistently patrol. The last time I came here it was.... Hmmm filthy, but a heat wave so I had no choice but to get into the water or sweat n die on the beach. People do tend to leave their garbage on the sand.. Cups, tissues, diapers (oh my), various cutlery.. The occasional pizza box... But if you go super early with the mission to tan like a rock star, I rather come here. Only because the beach is so freaking small.. You can meet up with anyone and find them. There was a seaweed heaven in the water last time which was a bit displeasing, but as I said if you want to tan... Quietly, this could be your place, I plan on going to other beaches moving forward as something that I do not know bit me the hell up while I was on the beach and I haven't the slightest idea what the hell it was. I think I fell in love with this beach... It may not be the biggest beach in the nyc Long Island area but it was convenient for me exit 8 off the belt parkway. Especially with kids the walk to set up camp was not bad at all considering the walk to set up at jones beach. There was enough space for the kids to throw sand without disturbing anyone else. Parking was $20 for weekends and holidays and $6 for weekdays. There's no parking on the local streets as the sign said May 15- Sept 15 . When you first enter ,there are Picnic tables were everyone was grilling and plenty of seating assuming you get there early to claim your spot. The primary reason why I love this beach. They had a basketball court and and playground outside of the beach area. They also had a carvel ice cream shop another shop to by food. read more

Very large run that is nothing special, but has potential. Things it has going for it: - Plenty of shade in summer - Good fencing - Large run Things it has against it: - No poop bags provided - No separate large and small dog runs - No water - Dirt ground cover - No double gate entry area - No seating - Don't live locally..... parking will be a pain since especially after May 15th when you are not allowed to park on the main drag. I have been to this park only once and I have to say this dog run is big by NYC standards.... thats the only reason it got 2 stars in my opinion. There is nothing much to this run compared to others in NYC. Add a separate small dog run, bring in water,upgrade entry gates and add seating....this is a solid 3 star run. This is my least favorite beach in NYC and Long Island. It is too dirty for me the day I went. It is small which is a plus. But too noisy and rowdy for me. I like quiet peaceful beaches. It is great for kids because on the way in you have the playgrounds and the picnic benches/area. The concession stand was closed but there was an ice cream truck parked at the entrance so they had something to where you can get refreshments. Relatively clean, not that large, and sometimes dirty, this beach is worth going to if you're close by (else if would've chosen a larger beach such as Coney Island). I visited this beach a few times before, most recently last week in the evening. Even though it was a hot day, there were only a few people there so we were able to enjoy the sunset in peace and quiet. Finding parking on the side streets was very easy that day and that was a major plus for me. read more

Though I would say that since the people who come here are tons better than their beach compadres, then this park is an improvement and also: DOGGIES! Yay! Quick tips: Bring your own waste bags and don't make the same mistake I did by bringing in a squeaky toy for your little friend. A very friendly pit bull hounded me for an hour because she knew I had that bugger inside my pocket. read more
