AMAZING experience with Dr. Demann. I came to see Dr. Demann after dislocating my ankle one weekend and visting the ER where a doctor told me it was "just a sprain" and ace bandaged me. My ankle was huge and in so much pain so I yelp-ed for a nearby sports medicine doctor Monday morning and found Dr. Demann. The doctor and his staff were very professional. He did an ultra sound right there in the office to see what was up with my anke, and confirmed my nightmare that my ligaments were torn. He suggested a few options for treatment and put me in a walking boot. He took the time to explain what was going on and answered all of my questions in detail. After seeing other orthopedists that do not do any ultrasounds in office and just feel your foot to see what is wrong I know first hand that this is a quality doctors office. I was having horrible pain in my hip, and was recommended here by a friend who had lower back problems. He said this was the only place he would ever go again in NYC! Now I know why! Dr. DeMann was able to figure out what was wrong, took plenty of time, performed an ultrasound, and at no point did I feel rushed! Dr. DeMann and his staff are the finest group of Spinal Care Professionals around. I went to him in severe pain for herniated and bulging discs and his amazing staff helped me through some of the worst pain of my life. After months of therapy and adjustments, I was able to manage the pain and finally live almost pain free. Dr. DeMann is a great chiropractor who doesn't go over board with adjustments and favors alternative therapy including traction therapy, VDax and The Graston Technique. They have a great MD, Dr. Hesse, who serves as their MD and physical therapist. I've been having trouble with back pain for as long as I can remember. I've also moved around the country quite a bit. Whenever I move to a new city, I start asking around for recommendations of a good chiropractor. My #1 rule is not to go to a chiropractor without a recommendation (I learned this the hard way after a bad Dr did some serious damage to my neck). I read the Yelp reviews of Manhattan Spine and made an appointment. The first thing that struck me was how friendly everyone was. Melissa, one of the receptionists, was so helpful in setting up my initial appointment and is always so lovely whenever I walk in. She greets everyone by name! My first visit, I sat with Dr. DeMann and discussed treatment options. He made me feel completely at ease and spoke with me at length, answering all of my questions with a patience and attentiveness that I am not used to seeing in New York doctors. I've been seeing Kiersten Lindelef for my actual adjustments, and I LOVE her. She is helping me make great progress in lessening my back and neck pain and is such fun to talk to while she adjusts. When I initially hurt myself, I googled PRP Treatment for Achilles Tears, and I was unable to find helpful posts. I hope this review helps others that are considering this procedure. My story - 40 Years old. Active. P90x, stair climber, plyometrics about 5 times per week. Had 2 tears in my Right Achilles that I hoped would heal with rest. When the pain persisted I was recommended to Dr Drew DeMann at Manhattan Spine & Sports Medicine. After reviewing my MRI and Ultrasound, Dr DeMann was confident he could fix me with one or two treatments of PRP. Procedure - being injected was not terribly painful, but you definitely knew it was happening. The idea behind PRP, once you are injected, the plasma spreads to the area with tears, expands, and fills the gaps. Like those foam sprayers used for cracks in home repair. Took an Uber home, feeling like my leg was a bit heavy, but not overly uncomfortable. Dr DeMann warned me that I would feel pressure in the area at night and to keep the leg elevated as I slept. That night, I woke up about 2am feeling like my leg was going to explode from the pressure. This was the point where I was thinking I should have taken the pain pills provided! Thankfully, this was the low point for me, as each night got easier and easier. Walking Boot - I wore it more than asked. Used it for nearly 3 weeks. Physical Therapy - Manhattan Spine has a great "One Stop Shop" concept. My physical therapist, Dr. Jacqueline Reisner, was located right on premises. I have had PT treatment before and it was always a lackadaisical event. Not with Dr. Reisner. She explains what you will do, stands by your side and corrects you when you are doing it wrong, and teaches you how to continue improving on your own. I have since incorporated stretches she taught me in to my daily routine. She is a gem in the PT world. 6 weeks later I continued my stretches and was back at the gym. It has been 9 months since my PRP on my Achilles and I could not be happier. I am back at the gym 5 to 6 times per week and climbing stairs at an aggressive pace. I have been in treatment at Manhattan spine for several months. I have pretty serious neck and shoulder pain that started with a shoulder tendinitis years ago. The problem became chronic and limited sessions of physical therapy were not enough. At Manhattan Spine I found the attention I needed for my problem and a comprehensive program of rehabilitation. Dr Demann performed a thorough evaluation and diagnosis and keeps following my progress very closely. I've had trigger point injections with him that worked wonders. They have a wonderful team put together. I do physical therapy 3 times a week with Dr. Jacqueline Reisner. She is extremely knowledgeable and attentive. We have tried many different exercise approaches and the most modern exercise programs. We've recently been working on the Pilates reformer they have, which works great for me. I have also tried techniques like cupping with her, which has been amazingly helpful as well. I have also done traction with the the chiropractor Dr Donahue which adds another important layer of therapy and speeds my way to full recovery. I have also had some acupuncture which works great with pain. Having chronic pain is no joke and I was starting to feel desperate. Not only have I improved a lot, I feel I have the close care that will allow me to find more permanent recovery. I am only 33 and was starting to worry about always having pain. At Manhattan Spine I feel everyone is very committed on me achieving recovery and from the front desk to the administrative people, and everyone has worked together with my health benefits to make my treatment affordable and compatible with my financial limitations. This place is the best! I was hurting so much in my low back that I could barely walk without limping. The pain was so debilitating, especially for a young person.. I decided to try this place out and Dr. DeMann was excellent in diagnosing my pain and treating me. He was the first doctor in the last 3 years to suggest getting a new MRI and doing a full blood work up. He also found out about some deficiency I had that NO other physician ever found in the last 10 years. I started decompression DRX therapy a few weeks ago and my pain went from a 10/10 to a 1/2... Dr. Donahue is amazing as well, always so friendly and helpful and I can tell she really cares about getting me to health again. I see Sanjay for PT and he's awesome and always so positive and knowledgeable. I finally feel like I can have my life back thanks to this team.
