From the city's web-site…read more This 3.72 acre park was originally known as the North Side Park It was renamed Union Park in recognition of the 2,467 men who served on active duty during the Civil War. Marches and drills for volunteer Union soldiers were held at the park beginning in April of 1861. On September 20, 1939, a Civil War cannon was donated by W.R.C. It was unveiled by Jane Kress whose mother gave a hand-sewn flag to departing Civil War soldiers. The Manitowoc County Historical Society raised funds to erect a historical marker commemorating the site of the training grounds for the volunteers who left for the Civil War in Manitowoc County. This marker was dedicated on June 17, 1997 during a ceremony which included a pie and ice cream social. Restroom facilities for the park were completed in December of 1992. A nice little park with open areas with large trees. Dogs are allowed. There is a small playground and a large open area for volleyball, croquet and other field games. Very neat and trim, not wild at all.

There is a picnic area with grills and tables. Playground equipment has been developed on the hillside northwest of the parking lot. A picnic area with a grill and a small shelter and toilet are located near the parking lot on the lower level. The lake access has a pier, which is used for both launching and fishing. This 19-acre lake offers good rainbow trout fishing as well as large mouth bass, crappie, bluegill, perch and northern pike. Use of motors on this lake is prohibited. You will see fishermen with high power bass boats moving slowly, using just their electric trolling motors. The wooded area between the two arms of the lake yields an area that promises good birding. Good fishing draws attention. At any given time you will see folks wetting a hook. There are 1.2 miles miles of shoreline. The lake averages 25 feet, with 54 feet being the deepest spot. The boarding dock, and the route of travel to it, is ADA accessible. This lake is described as a seepage, "two-story" lake. If you are looking for a nice fishing spot, a place for a picnic, a place for small gathering, or a nice place to get into the woods it would behoove you to find this nice little park off of county highway XX. The group consensus amongst multiple guests was that she didn't give a great first impression. She was rude, unprofessional and seemed unapproachable throughout the wine with alpacas event. That being said, the helpers and alpacas were amazing! The staff bringing the alpacas around were young, but wise about all things alpaca. The staff helping for the wine event were helpful, too. They had a great selection of snacks to pair with the various wines and you got a good pour at the end with the wine of your choice. They had music which helped in the background and it was a local father-daughter duo. We enjoyed the group we shared a table with and compared tastings the whole time. The gift shop was open during the event and they had things like yarn, sweaters, soap, etc available for purchase. As you can imagine with a smaller setup, the prices were a little high, but it looked like quality products. It was a good event and I'd recommend it to someone in the area looking for something fun and different!

Alpacas? Wine? Yoga? Yes! Yes! YES! Oh my gosh, you guys! You can come here and do fun activities…read more amongst the cute lil alpacas and then sip wine while they stare at you in awe. LondonDairy hosts a variety of classes paired with alpacas to offer unique experiences. The owners of the farm are also into pairing alpacas with fun inspiring and unique experiences. Some of the classes on the farm even incorporate wine from some of the owners' favorite places abroad. I had the pleasure of attending alpaca yoga--our setting was serene; the day's weather was perfectly warm and bright; the yoga instructor was friendly and welcoming; and the yoga was gentle and relaxed. After class, we could sample up to 4 different wines, select a full pour, and then spend time petting and feeding the alpacas! We were also lucky enough to have come right after the birth of two new baby alpacas!!! One tip: Make sure you bring your own yoga mat or towel to better avoid the ants that may be in the grass. Some of the other classes offered at LondonDairy include a knit and drink series, as well as a paint with the alpacas class, too. Aside from classes, the place also has a gift shop with several unique items ($-$$$)--here you can purchase everything from a small takeaway items like ornaments and trinkets to full on winter clothing made from alpaca fur. They also have a section of alpaca yarn for all you knitters! I highly suggest visiting LondonDairy. So far, I haven't found anything quite like it. Every year when I get back there on vacation, they've spent another zillion dollars rehabbing another section. In July 2025, several of us went bowling and the lanes are excellently maintained (unlike those ridiculous new cheap lanes where the pins have strings through them?!??!). The beer was great too. I really hope the family who owns this doesn't lose the faith, and the community backs up this business because it will only get nicer as time goes on. We need more places like this to get us off our couch butts and go get some fun activity.

Trails lead from the parking lot down to a creek and the lake. Nice spot for a birding outing or a picnic. Good place to bring your kids, as the place is pretty safe (as long as you keep your kids away from the cliff). But there is a lot of lawn between the lot and the cliff. There is an old silo next to the parking lot. When I was a kid, the rumor was that some guy hung himself in it. It does have an eerie feeling to it. Walking down the road to the beach you will find an old metal bridge in the middle of nowhere. You can drop a fishhook there if you want. A bit farther to a small beach. Some of the place is pretty wild. But the park is a bit tame for my tastes. I prefer the Point Creek Conservation Area a few mile north on the same highway. Yet, this place is a nice place to spend some quiet time and do a little wildlife observation. Just a click north of Cleveland. Hey, it's me again. Just to let you know there are two parts to this park. Just out of Cleveland there is a southern parking lot. There are bathrooms there. Drive north a bit, cross the creek, and there is another parking lot. This is where the spooky silo is; and the walk down to the old bridge. I prefer the northern part. They are both a nice spot to hang out for a quiet time.
