I didn't think that there was much of a time or service difference, especially when one is not really in a hurry, as we were admiring the Sydney Bridge and the Opera House. But it is a cooler boat. Ok, I didn't realize until after the fact that we weren't on the fast ferry until we saw one speeding past us. Lol. The regular ferry reminded me of the Staten Island ferry in NYC. If you want one of those nice views with a seat you better be at the beginning of the line. Those crowds were crazy. My friend and I had to scramble for a seat inside on our way to Manly island. However, on the way back we lucked out to be at the very front and I ran like a true tourist to get an outside seat. Lol. Be careful because people will stand right in front of your views while you're sitting. My friend and I had to stop a few people. Uh uh, we were sitting and checking out Sydney's gorgeous views and beautiful lights. The ride lasts about 30 minutes and the views are beautiful especially at night with the different lights. The fee was less because it was a Sunday. I love that they have tons of places to eat, snack on both sides of the terminal. I LOVED Manly island and would definitely take this ferry back and forth as needed to visit. read more

Manly Ferry isn't the only ferry that offers excellent views of Sydney harbour, but it does seem to be the most popular of them, and not to mention the most expensive ($14.40 return trip). Plus, Manly is a great little suburb to spend the whole day shopping and at Manly beach. The ferry ride is approximately 30 minutes one way (or 60 minutes return trip) from/to Circular Quay. It's a great way to sit, relax, and take in the view of the harbour while on the water. The chairs inside are comfortable, and the benches outside are rough. However, I recommend sitting outside to get a great view, especially from the stern so the wind won't be so bothersome. The ferry departs every 30 minutes, but get in line early (~10 minutes early) so you can grab a good viewing seat. read more

This is probably the best way to see the Sydney skyline. You get an unobstructed view of the opera house from three different angles. The best part is that you end up at Manly Beach! Even if you don't plan on going to the beach, it's worth it just to take the ride. It's $7.60 each way. I saw another yelp review of a nighttime ferry ride, which hadn't even occurred to me. Totally love this so much! Also, I am going to have to say that this was one of my highlights for my trip. Ok, for the locals this is probably just like catching a cab from one side of the city to the other. But for me, it was an adventure! We got on the Ferry on a rough day. It had been raining and the wind was strong. So I knew it was going to be choppy on the water. Especially when you hit the mouth area on the way to Manly. It was so much fun when the boat was rocking in the waves. If you like adventure (like me) fight the kids to get a spot at the front of the Ferry outside. I could not get the smile off my face. Too much fun. This Ferry is also a great way to get a great view of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Zoo. Be sure to bring your camera to grab some snaps. I forgot mine. Dang! Oh well... The trip is pretty fast and cheap at around $15 return. You can use your opal card credit, which is great. There is plenty of seating available on both levels as well. I recommend getting on this Ferry if you have not been on one before. Also, Manly is worth visiting to check out Four Pines Brewery. Happy travels! read more

Free wifi on the main deck --- that's upstairs -- for us non-boat folk hehee For just over 15$ a person, you can go round trip to manly and back to circular quay and the ferries come approx every half hour so it's incredibly easy to take a trip out and back. Took about 45 min to go each way but it went by pretty fast cause you can just stare out the window and check out the numerous views if the bridge, opera house, small islands or just play on ur phone and draft up some reviews :) Just make sure you get to the dock in time for the last boat at 540 cause it does get really full and it'd be incredibly unfortunate to get stuck there or have to take a long cab ride back... we def cut it a lil too close for comfort! When in Sydney, we booked at 2 hour sightseeing tour (2 hr eco hopper sightseeing)of the harbor. We specifically asked if it was narrated before purchasing tickets. The said of course. In reality, this is just a ferry between different ports. The 2 hour 'tour' was really 2 1/2 hours. There was narration until we asked about it after a couple of ports. It's one of the best ways to see the Opera House. I didn't pay too much attention on the fare since I used my Opal card... but honestly A$14 RT isn't really too bad considering how much I pay for my ferry ride to Macau. (It costs more than HK$300 RT. -.-|||) Plus, you get great views of Sydney Harbour so no complains from me. There are a ton of things to do in Manly, you can easily spend a full day. The beaches (Manly and Shelly) are beautiful. There are plenty of fish & chips places... I guess the only down side is that beers cost a fortune in AU. I took the train to the station at the docks and got on the ferry it was Sunday the rate was $2.50 with the Opal card and the scenery was gorgeous on the way over best part is it dropped us off at Manly beach. You can walk across the street and your on the downtown area. The ferry was comfortable you could either sit inside or get some sun outside. It was worth the trip. read more

My friend and I had taken the ferries to Taronga Zoo and Manly on 4/15 and 4/16, respectively. We were dissatisfied with the following: On 4/15: 1. there was a small amount of water on the inside of the ship by the windows in which I managed to get my pants dirty. meanwhile, my friend's coat caught a rusty drops from the top (please see pictures attached). 2. the bathroom had a puddle next to urinal (please see picture). The boat travels in two directions instead of turning around so take into consideration for where to sit for best views. We recommend sitting in the back, outside, when it is warm. Our preferred mode of transportation in Sydney. We've been taking it from Manly to the CBD for decades, but never bothered with a Yelp review. But it's due. Unbelievable views, reasonable fares, regular schedule, plenty of seating (although the outside front seating is always encumbered by the tourists taking photos and videos). It's a dynamic way to relax, with beautiful ever changing views as you travel. If you don't have a reason to take it, do it anyway. Just do a round trip ("return" fare in Aussie). There's free wi-fi, drinks and ice cream for purchase and a cell phone charging station (awkward as it's in a hallway and standing w/ short cords but appreciated!). Yes, the views can be good. I'm a little disappointed about how expensive an adult ticket is ! Pardon me, Im still getting used to how expensive everything here in Sydney. We took the Manly Fast Ferry between Circular Quay in Sydney and Manly. The ride was quick and easy. On the way there, we sat inside on the lower level. On the way back, we sat in the bow of the ship. We were the only ones up there so it felt like a private Sydney harbor tour! The views really are spectacular. Unless you're looking for commentary, any harbor tours would likely be redundant. If you're looking to get between Manly and Sydney, the Manly Fast Ferry is absolutely the way to go. 4 stars. read more

One of the worst companies to deal with, most unprofessional with no courtesies at all. During the Christmas period I had booked a Zoo Combo pass for the family online. However next day I was told they don't run service on 25th, so I had to make my own arrangements to reach the Zoo. Then at zoo, I had a lot of difficulty entering as they could not approve the online ticket given. The pass ideally was to allow me 48 hours access of the ferries, so I reached their office on 26th to be able to go to Manly and was informed, they are not running any services to Manly on that day. So ultimately I was not able to use their services both the days which spoiled my holidays. The first lady at the office of Darling Harbour was rude and not at all ready to help. The second one Samantha was at least a little positive and agreed to take the complaint and refund request. The real journey started here. I had to follow up with this company for 2 months to finally get a petty $40 as return, wherein I had paid $198, if I had purchased the zoo tickets directly I would have got it at $118. The company says, we cannot refund $80 as per some stupid rules. This is a complete case of cheating, where they are trying to fleece customers even when they don't give satisfactory services. The worst part here is the ability to get in touch with this company, they just are not available most of the times, they don't respond to your mails for days and then give back some lame excuse. I have not got even one call from their head office till date to understand what I have undergone. If you don't want to spoil your holidays, please do not go with this company ever. read more
