They are also accommodating if you forget to exchange coinage from US to Canadian, and the washers and dryers work very well. Pool and gym seem very clean. Also, the antique style elevator with the hold to operate operation was very unique. Overall I had a good stay. The only issue was a smell on the 2nd floor on the night of May 29th, not the hotels fault but someone has very bad BO. Otherwise a nice stay with plenty of free accessible parking space.

I loved the snow birds on the river and my son saw the hot air balloons! We loved hiking along the river in the morning. I also liked the breakfast room bathed in the Sun and overlooking the river. I think this is a…read morecommon lodging place on the weekly tour so that's something to keep in mind if you don't want to be around a large group (it was a Tuesday). The hotel has a variety of amenities: meeting rooms, a pool, ample parking, free wifi, etc. The biggest downside is that there isn't really much around it. There is a police station across the street and maybe 1-2 places to eat but that was about it. If you're looking to drop by for a night just to pass through I don't think its a bad idea since you're probably not looking to be in a busy area!

Before going, I checked out some motels online with the intent of booking one before departing home. I visited the website for Motel Montagnard at http://www.hotelmontagnard.com/francais.htm and was impressed with what I saw. I selected a "Comfort 4" room and called the motel to confirm, give a credit card number, etc. It should be noted that my French language ability is quite good having attended l'Universite Laval in Quebec City and having taught French for 20 years. The room I was given was in no way similar to what is pictured on the website. However, since I was planning on being out of the room most of the time, I decided to accept the room. The room was in the rear of the building, ground level, with access from outside and by interior corridor. There was no security lock on the interior corridor door; the door to the bathroom looked as though someone had tried to kick it in, the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling by its wires. Since I own a Internet development company, I need to be able to have Internet access. Although I had been told there was access, there was none. Note that I work on the Internet for a living and have operated my own online servers so I know how to connect. I went to the motel Office and asked about Internet connectivity. I was told there may not be any in that room. I was given a key to another room and went to check that out. This room was a few doors closer to the main Office. Upon inspection, the room was in better shape but with absolutely no where to plug in my laptop. Note that because I travel quite a bit, I carry my own surge protector bar to plug in multiple electronic devices should I need to. There was nowhere to plug this in. Finally, I was taken to a third room on the second floor reached by a very narrow interior corridor that smelled as though it had not been cleaned in some time. Before opening the room, the girl from the front desk rapped on the door - was someone supposed to be staying in there; didn't they know if the room was occupied - and then used the passkey. Same situation as before, no place to plug in. By this time I had enough. I asked for my payment back and left. I have stayed in many hotels in various cities but this was by far the most unclean, most in need of repair, poorly run establishment that I have encountered. The website is definitely not representative of this establishment and I felt that I had been deceived by their advertising. I would NOT recommend this motel.

This is a cheap hotel; $65 CAD per night. It is LOUD;…read moreright next to a busy road and busy train tracks. I have stayed twice and one room upstairs facing away from the road was much more pleasant than the first floor room. At 10:30 am, with a "do not disturb" sign on the door, the housekeeper entered the room even though check out is 11am. (My bf didn't lock the door :/) There really isn't regular housekeeping or an ice machine or any vending machines. Just a place to crash. There is a restaurant next door. Wifi only works in lobby.
