Several friends recommended this place, but I knew it would be difficult to book at last minute. Fortunately, my family & I were able to get a 2 bedroom suite due to a cancellation. We were there 3 nights! The suite had: * 2 bedrooms (1 room with 1 queen bed, 1 room with 2 single beds) * pull out coach in the living room * kitchenette w/ stove & microwave * 1 full bathroom with shower & tub, * 1 full bathroom with shower * washing machine * mini dryer * TV * balcony The room was very cozy. They provided standard amenities (travel toiletries, towels, tissue, dishes, soap, etc.) They don't do housekeeping until check out tho, that was a bummer. Majority of the staff were friendly at the front desk. Parking is free for guests, but space is limited! It's walking distance from the lagoon (perfect for my toddler niece & nephews), and the pool was nice! Next time, I may want a room with the pool & ocean view. It's also a couple blocks away from a mini shopping area in case you want to buy some groceries, got to a cafe/bar, etc. The nightly rate was quite expensive though, but we did go during summer (after Christmas), but it was work it. If you just go on face value you will be tempted to call this place way too expensive but you will pay more if you go to the units at the camping ground nearby. We opted for a balcony room facing the "mountain" which also overlooks the carpark and village. There are no flyscreens but equally there were surprisingly no flies so we did enjoy wide open door to the balcony. The balcony is pretty big too. The Mantra is on top of the Ettalong Diggers but this was not a noise problem if you shut the balcony doors, The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan so you need to have the door open to have a shower. The shower can be fiddled with so that it will work properly. We had a spa but didn't use it. Kitchenette and laundry (plus powder) are also part of the room. Parking is undercover and shared with the Digger's club but there was no problems getting a park. You can get towels from reception for the pool and beach but don't lose them as it will cost $20. read more

Good position but pretty low grade place. The rooms are apartment style - functional but dull. No one comes to clean the rooms so you are on your own for long stays. Don't be fooled by the low-ish price as everything costs extra except for parking. To get them to make up the foldout bed is an extra thirty dollars a night and Internet is about the same or more. You can't plug your computer into the TV so are stuck with expensive just out of date films. I wouldn't mind if only there were room service or other services. It's just all very bargain basement. Also the "stereo" they supply is from the early 90s, so rather than an ipod connection it has a tape deck - so bring your mix tapes! That said, the pool is pretty okay and Ettalong beach is nice and fun for kids. There is a stove top and a small hotel fridge so that is okay. It's not a bad place. Easter weekend getaway from the city, this place is in a great spot and only a short drive from Sydney. There is a restaurant Diggers Club on the premises and we enjoyed eating here. Mantra Ettalong Beach - Hotels Near Me - Ettalong Beach, NSW

We have mixed feelings about the Mantra. The location is excellent and the views from the front units are lovely. However, there are a few things travelers should know in advance so you can plan in advance. We shared a two-bedroom unit with elderly parents at the beginning of July. For us, the weather was mild thanks to sunny days. However, for the folks, it was cold so they opted for the bedroom with twin beds since it had its own wall heater. But the room didn't have its own TV, which was an issue due to difference sleeping schedules. WIFI access seems to be a money maker for properties like this, whereas many smaller hotels as well as properties through AirB&B and VRBO provide it free. Pay as you go "chips" for mobiles or tablets are a cheaper option. The biggest issue is the barely functional "kitchen" which is located in the hall between the back bedroom and living/dining area. With minimal counter space and little storage, it was quite difficult to prepare even a light meal for 4 people. For some reason there was a second small fridge in the location where we assume a dishwasher should have been. We don't mind hand washing dishes, but at least provide a rack to put on the drain board. Spa downstairs was closed for several months (?) of repair. Huge terrace with lovely view. A BBQ would have been nice. Our unit was a little rundown. Water damage on the carpet in the corner of the dining area was very noticeable. Overall cleanliness could have been better. Guests are required to leave the units clean, but there is nothing provided to do so. Be prepared to buy basic supplies at the IGA a block away. Bottom line: good choice for a few days but probably not for an extended stay. read more
