Found this place last minute on yelp, I was looking for a quick cut as I have been previously going to random Haircut shops. It is hard to find on first visit but it's definitely the place to get a haircut. Manuel did a great job that even my wife noticed my haircut! lol (that never happens). So I decided to come back for a second visit, got a haircut and I went with a hot towel shave. The hot towel shave is highly recommended and it therapeutic. I definitely recommend this place!!! Manuel cut my sons hair for the first time, he made conversation with him and made him feel comfortable. My son sits very well in the chair, hardly moves, he enjoys a good haircut. Manuel took his time to ensure that his haircut was what we were looking for. He does take cash only! Not from the area so it's been hard trying to find a good place to get my haircut. It even took me a while to find the place itself. I thought the gps was playing games with me, but the shop is actually attached to the car wash building on the side. Not sure how it is on a regular day, but all the coronavirus madness going on has the streets slightly empty. I was able to walk in and be helped in about 15 minutes. It is a very small establishment with only 3 chairs to service customers. At the time I went, there were only two barbers cutting hair. Although some would say they look scary or intimidating, these guys were super chill and fun to talk to. I've seen some of the reviews about people complaining that the wait is too long, and I can understand the frustration. Although there are very good reasons that you end up waiting awhile. The first being that the store is tiny and there's only a few barbers. The second and most important is that they actually take their time and do an outstanding job. Most salons will do a rushed job and get you in and out in a matter of minutes. So if you're looking for something quick and simple, look elsewhere. But if you don't mind sitting down for awhile and getting the best haircut you've had in a long time, then look no further than Manuel's Barbershop! They paid extra attention to detail. So I saw the five star review and I recommended my husband take his son to get a haircut here. My husband is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet he's so polite and friendly says hi to everybody greets people all the time with a smile and rarely has anything harsh to say about people. As soon as he got to this place and his son started getting his haircut my husband is texting me saying that he does not like the ladies attitude who is cutting his sons hair. I asked him why what's going on and he says if his son just barely moves at all she has a bad attitude and she saying keep still mind you were talking about a nine-year-old here so it's not like a toddler who is moving like crazy it's like she didn't like her job or she didn't want the customer. I'm sorry but I just had to give it one star for this because like I said my husband is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and he does not complain about businesses with his family owning a business he just doesn't like to do that. But I had to come on here and let it be known if you take your child here And you get the lady who works there beware she may give you attitude as well. Not the way to treat customers and especially children. Oh and I even suggested that if she has such a poor attitude don't tip her but my husband is too kind he said the haircut was looking good and she's been OK enough to give her a five dollar tip so like I said he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and even though he didn't like the way she was treating his son he still tipped her. When my step son was telling me about it he described it as her hitting his head which was not the case but more like she was moving his head kinda rough. Super annoying! Don't cut children's hair if you can't have more patience! Oh she also asked that he not have gel in his hair next time because it ruins her sheers. Umm I've never heard a barber ask that before. I just moved to the Modesto area from New York, and one of the first things I needed to do was find a new barber. I am so glad I found Manuel's! He is excellent at what he does. Seriously, better than my barber in New York, and less expensive too. The shop is inside of the same building as a car wash, which is definitely unusual, but inside the shop, you would never know it. Honestly if I could give a zero I would but I had to choose at least one star to leave a review. The lady that cuts hair there does not know how to follow directions even when given a picture of a hairstyle. She does not know that the hairline on the back of the head is is suppose to be cut below the ear. She cut my husband's hair and cut real high up and it looks so stupid. I couldn't believe what she did. Common sense was obviously missing here. Save your money and go somewhere else.
