Good place to find rare and old stuff, but the place is over pack and full of random stuff.

This store is not on s 14th. It has moved to a smaller location on the North side of town. This is the most overpriced thrift store in Abilene. Place smells and very dirty. Most things are broken. Better off buying online, cheaper that way. read more

The first time I went here was a couple of years ago, when it first opened. When I went in here, I was impressed by the amount of classic video games, as well as the selection of DVDs, VHS, and other misc items floating around. They sell tons of old video games; Sega, NES, SNES, etc. They also sell refurbished consoles ready to plug in. What I'm saying is that this store is as advertised; they have all kinds of stuff, and is a great spot for vintage (and modern, I'm sure) video gaming. Now, I have to give you the bad part: I went in here twice, recently (I hadn't been in there for about two years probably) because I had an itch to get a few old Nintendo games. Both times I went in, I was not helped at all. There were two teenage kids working behind the counter (the owner was not there both times). Neither of them were interested in helping me. Both times I went in there, they were *way* too busy with their more important task: talking to their friends who were hanging out in the store. I stood at the counter for a while, waiting on them to finish, so I could get a game out of the display case, and what did I get? Nothing. I finally interrupted the kid's conversation to get some help. The entire time he was wasting his time on me, he couldn't stop talking to his stupid friends, joking, completely ignoring any question I had about the consoles they sold, or anything. Now, the second time I went in there, again their friends were in there, just hanging out. I was in there with my wife and two kids. Their topic of conversation? Girlfriends. Okay, innocent enough. But no, instead they were talking about how young their girlfriends looked, how hot they were because they looked so young. One of them even said "dude, my ex girlfriend was 19, she looked like she was 13 dude", then the other responded "dude that's so hot I'm jealous." What is wrong with these kids? Does the owner know that he hired idiots with no customer service skills whatsoever? This is one of those stores that is great, but can and will fall very quickly into a specialty-business trap: Only catering to friends. There are a few businesses in Abilene that operate this way (B&B Pawn is one of them). Sure, you can go in and buy something, but if you don't know the people behind the counter, you will not receive the help a paying customer deserves. The only people that will be helped are friends, and that's it. read more

Where to start? The good stuff first. Yes, there are tons of items here. These items range from toys to games and everything in between. It really is an impressive collection. There hasn't been many times that I haven't found something I was looking for. So there's that. Personally, I think the problem is his son who runs it with him. I was told the expensive prices is due to "We are the only ones who have it" excuse. That's ridiculous and idiotic. The bad? This is a business and I understand that you need to make good deals to make a profit. However, you WILL get ripped off. The trade in value or cash are laughable. You're better off selling on Craigslist and getting the full value to spend at the store. The prices here are beyond ridiculous. The movies are affordable but the vintage games are way above gaming standards. Even eBay isn't priced this high. I understand you need to mark items so it makes it difficult for someone to buy and turn a buck. But seriously? $30 for "Super Mario World"? A game that was produced in the millions? We're not talking about "All Stars with SMW". That's just one example. People in Abilene are not going to pay premium prices. That's more suite to Dallas or Austin. I think he needs to realize that things need to be affordable enough for the consumer but marked well for him to make some money. What's the final verdict? Yes the collection is beyond amazing. There's no arguing that. However, the pricing could be better and the trade value for items needs work. I would say check it out but don't hold your breath if you're looking for a "deal". read more

Ripoff like no other. Don't spend your money here, your better off buying online. I bought 3 GameCube games from him at a very PREMIUM price. Got home and 2 of them did not work. Took them back the same day and they ran them through a disk cleaner. Needless to say they still didn't work. Went back and only offered store credit. Dropped in today to see if anything has changed here. Things have, too bad it's not for the better. This place no longer accepts debit or credit cards. Came across an SNES cartridge I would have considered purchasing, however it was not marked with a price. When I asked Manny himself about he, he didn't even know he had it. I was told he would have to "look up" how much it's going for....meaning he's going to get on eBay and price it at the highest end of the spectrum. Deserves Zero stars. We read some bad reviews and despite our better judgement, decided to give a mom and pop shop some business. Went looking for Nintendo 3DS games. Found one we liked- without a case. Full retail price is $40 for the game, new. Manuel's was charging $37. We asked for a discount and were offered $30 which we accepted although still pricey. Got home and it did not work. Came back to shop the next day for a refund and the owner said store credit was the best he could do. We called the police to complain. We should have demanded the refund but settled on another game. Lesson learned. I will go back to buying from big-box stores. read more

I can't believe how rude the guy behind the counter was. We weren't acknowledged when we came in, the place smelled like pee and the guy working was a giant dick! We asked if they carried a certain kind of cable for something and abruptly said "It's 15.99". Those were literally the only two words he said the whole time we were there. My mother took our broken Nintendo 64 to Manuel to see if he could fix it. He had it and "worked on it" and then told her it was fixed. It was not! He only charged her 20 dollars apparently, but for him to blatantly lie and then charge her isn't okay. Not a good way to run a business, she and I are very disappointed. read more
