I certainly didn't have one like this when I was in middle school. I hope it inspires 6th through 8th graders to dream big and start thinking about what they are passionate about and start working hard towards those possible futures. Sierra Vista has two leadership tracks for students who are interested: one is ASB which is mostly in charge of rallies and school functions and the other is WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) which is designed to have 7th and 8th graders orient and welcome new students including 6ty graders. Both sets of leadership students had important roles on today's career day. The WEB students designed all the Peanuts and Snoopy themed decorations of the event and gave a speech to welcome the presenters to Career Day. The ASB students guided the presenters to the Professional Development room next to the school library as well as to their respective classrooms. These leadership students were very polite, respectful, and did an excellent job representing their school and making the presenters such as myself feel welcome and glad to participate. Well done, Sierra Vista, to the whole team that made today happen! Thank you to the guidance counselors for overseeing and planning the day and to the PTA for providing the breakfast and lunch!! I look forward to next year!

Valet drop off and pick up is another great perk and saves time and hassle of looking for parking. The new principal Mrs Williams is amazing. The good, the bad, and the ugly:…read more The good: The community. The teachers, parents, and students all seem to be insync with providing a good environment for the children. There is a fundraiser every month to improve the quality and materials in the school. API is in the high 800 and more near 900 which is outstanding for a Covina elementary school. It truly is the best of Covina's schools. The bad: Class size is large, students do not get a lot of personal attention. However, they are a public school and the best so its understandable. Teachers are good, but you find a few here and there that you just don't like. The Ugly: The school could use a make-over and a little new paint. The people in the office are usually not the friendliest. They tend to forget that they are providing a service. The district itself is not good at keeping records. Whenever we get our transferred renewed I have to literally stay on top of the process the whole time because our paperwork got lost twice in the past two years. I believe the district has had the same people working these offices for years. They really need to do an assessment and hire some fresh blood that are hungry for work and experience with better people skills.

My son had a class with this other student and both my son and niece were enrolled in the after school program/childcare located in this school with that same student and when all of this was had happened I went to the school and it was all brushed under a rug. The principal before him Mr. Young cared a lot more for the kids and was extremely active on campus. It's unfortunately that he left. But with this new Principal I didn't feel my son and niece were safe at this school but I did what I did as a parent to protect them and I didn't feel their safety was a concern of his.
