Although the hallway floors are well cleaned, the individual room floors are filthy. Look under the beds and heating ducts. Disgusting. Equipment is stored all over the crowded hallways and are trip hazards for the patients. The food is delivered cold besides being inedible. Beware of how they bill your loved ones. They will tell you that their stay is covered by Medicare and your insurance, then months later after your loved one leaves they start sending bills with no explanations. The administrator and accounting office will confuse you then take advantage of you. Find another facility for your loved ones. read more

Was very happy with the care extended to a close friend. Although he was here for only a short stay, we feel he received very compassionate care. The staff was especially kind and caring and up to date with his medical condition. The facility was clean and the residents looked well cared for. We were especially impressed with Mima, Director of Social Services and Katarina and Kim from the nursing staff. The front desk receptionist and office staff were also especially kind. This is a facility I would absolutely not recommend, the staff is very lazy and the social worker, administrator are very neglectful to a loved one's needs. The rooms are never cleaned and sanitized and garbage overflows. read more

Don't consider having your loved one stay here. A majority of the nurse aides ignore both the patients and the relatives when they ask for assistance. The nurse aides always say they CAN'T DO it. ( even if it is for sanitary reasons!!! ) Or if they finally help you, they retaliate in a sneaky way, so you aren't able to prove it. They are there to do the least work and expect to get paid. read more

Horrible place. Although the facility looks really nice from the outside... it is nothing like that inside. My father was actually admitted into here for rehab after his hospital stay for a cardiac arrest, and the staff there was for a lack of a better phrase.... extremely rude. Yes there were the occasional nice aides and nurses but a majority of them were really mean. When I went to visit my dad, the nurse or aide actually yelled at him for something that I DID. And I literally was yelling at her for it. She even acted like she was all high and mighty and talked down at my dad in front of me. I don't know about you but... aren't nurses and aides supposed to have some type of compassion for others? Because she clearly failed to show that. They also fail to give food on time. They also made my dad wait for his meal for two hours when he was supposed to have it on time. When I did my research of this facility... they were a "for-profit" organization. Honestly, the nurses and aides that are rude make it obvious that they are not passionate about their job or the fact that they have a job. They really do show that they are only there for a paycheck and expect to be paid without really doing their job. So please don't let your loved one come here for rehab. They won't really get the care that they need because they really are two faced... especially the night staff (the day staff were more friendly and I felt like I could trust them more). Fathers here after a long hospital stay , Day nursing are awesome always attentive and a pleasure but when it comes to night or night weekends they lack. We ask for one thing to be done but it seem that some nurses / nurses aids can't do it . I've been to a couple elderly homes and this is one of the better ones and it's clean . Doesn't smell like pee. I think all elderly homes need better care for there patients. read more

My mom came to maple glen after a long hospital stay and I couldn't be more thankful and appreciative towards everyone! The nurses and aides were all extremely professional and really got to know my mom, she had Sasha and Theresa in the day and Dioselene and Beverly in the evening, they took such great care of her! Rehab was excellent my mom could no longer walk after being stuck in the hospital for almost a month and she left with her ability to walk again, Carlo, Paul, Candice, Mey and Ashley you guys rock! This place is absolutely horrible!!!!!!! My dad was in distress, and they told me he was fine in a condescending like they were bothered tone!!!! 10 minutes later they are calling an ambulance for him!! The staff is rude..... and extremely lazy! read more

My family was here after a knee replacement and I cannot thank the staff enough for everything that they did for my aunt. She was totally equipped to go home and function independently. Let me begin by saying there are some good people there on staff. But how unprofessional can a place be when the following happens. The social worker Mima worked with my brother in having this be the place where she might spend the rest of her life. A dingy fowl smelling nursing home. She pressured him in my opinion, saying that if she moved in with me in Glen Rock there could be consequences in terms of her eventually receiving Medicaid. Even though she receives through a pension about four thousand a month. He shared what she indicated. First, there would be a 7000 fee to fill out the required paperwork. But, that during the two or three months she could stay at Maple Glen even though Medicare doesn't cover the stay. She stated that it was important to start the paperwork right away. Sounded like a car salesman to me. But finally my conscious and her begging to take her home with me with God's guidance led to the only decision that I could make. Having my eighty eight year old mom move in with me . This is where the incompetence really kicked in. On Sunday May 6 as I was frantically moving furniture for her arrival I got a phone call an hour before her scheduled arrival that someone had to report to Maple Glen to sign paperwork. This literally a couple of days of being told we needed to move her out. Now, I understood that once the goose who laid the golden egg wouldn't be a resident there and her money wouldn't be deposited monthly in their Bank account she needed to move out. But now listen to what happened that day and over the next several weeks. I went in and signed their pass paperwork and was told that the packet containing her prescriptions would be dropped off by Albert's ambulance service. Now it gets interesting. As the ambulance pulls up and the driver meets me at the door and when he sees two flights of stairs he tells me no one told him my mom would need to be moved to a second floor bedroom. He starts scratching his head and in all honestly had no clue of how he was going to move my mom upstairs. I told him I had a wheel chair and with my help we transferred her from the stretcher to the chair and with his female partners help and my help we got my mother upstairs and into her hospital bed. But of course the driver forgot to give me that Maple Glen discharge packet that legally they need to give me personally, which they didn't. Since it was given to the ambulance driver. I didn't think much about it and called Mima the social worker during the week. She asked me to come in and have me a copy. Later I realized that I didn't get a new set of scripts but copies. I called Mima back and was informed that I wouldn't be able to use the copies to get her medicine. She suggested I call Albert's the transportation service from Hawthorne and ask them for the packet. I called over the weekend explained what had happened and he said he would get back to me. I never heard back and became concerned when my mother's Parkinson's medication was running out so today I called Mima a social worker whose job it is to help people when they are going through such a transition and she's her to have the doctor write a new prescription. Her answer was, "No". I told her it was their legal responsibility to give me the discharge papers and orders personally and given they didn't follow through on their legal responsibilities they needed to provide me another prescription. She told me no again and told me to stop telling at her and told me I could use the copies to fill the prescription. At this point I told her this is what yelling sounds from me and asked her why she told me earlier that I couldn't use the copies of the script to fill the prescription. I point blank asked her again if I could use the copies to fill the script and she said yes. At this point I went to CVS in downtown Glen Rock where the pharmacist told me she couldn't find a prescription that is a copy of a prescription. So anyone thinking of using Maple Glen for a loves one should think about what I've shared and make the best decision for a loves one. I'm glad to say that although my mom isn't in the greatest shape physically she gets to smile everyday when she sees her grandchildren. I'm still figuring out what to do about getting a new prescription and looking for a GP that does house visits. The doctor a block away from me says she's not taking any more Medicare patients. So I have my GP looking for one that does house visits if anyone knows of a doctor in the Glen Rock area that does home visits.
