In a moment of clarity I reached out to Teresa and made an appointment. During my hour and a half initial meeting we talked about my medical history and I could tell she cared. I didn't feel rushed, and it felt thorough and I felt listened to. A friend of mine went to Dr. Ding to help with his blood pressure and highly recommended her to me. On my first visit, I was of course a little nervous. Having never had anyone stick tiny needles in my body, I wasn't sure what to expect and I was crossing my fingers that I didn't flinch or start laughing or crying or whatever. She is SO professional, and we started with probably 10 or 15 minutes of just talking and her explaining exactly what to expect and how it should feel and how it can help, etc. That first time, I experienced an overwhelming euphoria - like my whole body was waking up from some tense slumber. Warm energy is the only way I can think to describe it. I started going once a week, and now I go every other week. My migraines have reduced greatly - now I only get a couple every month. Dr. Ding is extremely kind and friendly and knows exactly what she's doing. She is originally from China, where she has an MD learned Acupuncture and Herbology. And she now TEACHES at Bastyr. So chances are, if you go to another acupuncturist in the Seattle area, they were likely to be trained by mine. Her offices are very unassuming and lack any fancy ambience you may find in other more new-agey type centers. It feels more like a nurses office at school. But there's something comforting in that. She puts the needles where they need to be, turns a warming lamp on my toes, turns off the light and lets me just relax for those 45 minutes. Sometimes, I even fall asleep.
