The doc comes out to get you and sits with you and REALLY listens to you. He's personable and caring. I never feel rushed or like I'm wasting his time. He's very contemporary and up to date on the latest trends and technology in medicine. He's very low key and calm. His staff is very friendly and super helpful in all things from making appts over the phone to discussing your insurance benefits so you understand them. I know they have other practitioners (chiropractic care is available) but I've only seen the doctor. I can't really complain about that. Oh and they have a CRYO chamber. I haven't tried it but I may.....check them out if you are looking for a new doc. You won't be sorry!!!!

She told me a large, painful mass could be removed during surgery but I would probably not qualify for the short hypofractionated therapy which I was okay with. She also told me a small external growth could be removed during surgery. We agreed not to remove external growth as I have keloid prone skin. During the weeks leading up to surgery, the office staff set up an MRI, coordinated pre-op class and sent revital rehab referral. I was not told about rehab until physical therapist reached out to me. The office staff also dropped the ball in coordinating pre-op class as neither Baylor McKinney or Baylor Plano nurse received my information. The day of surgery went well initially. The care staff at Baylor Surgicare Plano were great! I was disappointed to not see Dr Canavan before or after the surgery but knew she had a long line of surgeries. Since I read large mass removal included on surgery detail, I didn't worry about it. During our post surgery call today, she looked at both incisions and told me she would refer me to two other specialists. When I asked if large mass was removed from 2nd incision, she informed me she did not remove the mass. According to her, there was no need to remove mass especially if doing so would mean not qualifying for hypofractionated therapy. I was dumbfounded!! I reminded her of our conversation where I stated regular therapy was fine and that the mass was painful. I was even more dumbfounded when she told me the second incision was from the removal of the small external growth. A review I read on another platform claims Dr Canavan told her patient she "didn't know how many lymph nodes she removed as she had other surgeries that day." This is so believable, especially after my experience. I have no idea why she doesn't refer to notes during major procedures. It's kind of important. My pcp spoke highly of Dr Canavan. She may be a great surgeon, but what is the use if what is communicated will not be followed? I see her again in November for a follow-up, but i question if I will actually be heard.

In 2022 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr Canavan did surgery and it seemed to go well. I…read morecontinued to have pain and weird allergy symptoms. I have Severe Nickel Allergy Syndrome. It seems the marker used was part nickel and it was missed in the surgery to remove tumor. I only found out after 2 sinus surgeries and an annual mammogram. I was told by her PA that I slipped thru the cracks because office fell apart while PA out on maternity leave. I have not had a severe hives related incident since having the marker removed a year later. Nor a severe sinus infection that required surgery. Additionally Dr Canavans and or her staff failed to inform me of a test result. This test indicated that I didn't need radiation. I had consultation with both Dr. Canavan and Radiologist because I also have non small cell lung cancer. Breast radiation I read can stimulate lung cancer. My score was below the threshold but no one informed me. I finally broke down and agreed when told there was no way all cells had been gotten with biopsy. You see there were no cells found from surgery. Well that decision has now cost me my life. The radiation stimulated 1 tumor in left breast. Within a few months it had doubled then almost tripled in size. It was in a precarious spot next to my heart. Removal was difficult and resulted in pleural seeding. I now have Terminal Metastatic NSCLC Stage IV. I Wil never see my grandkids raise their families. I won't be around to laugh and play with greatgrandbabies. My life is ended because Dr. Canavan was too rushed to verify nickel allergy, too rushed to verify no signal heard; too rushed to give results of fatal test. I therefore could never recommend Dr. Canavan or her office. I tell everyone of my experience and warn them to make the doctor explain everything. Also make sure they read your chart as my Nickel Allergy is clearly indicated. Never let them pressure you. ALWAYS GET A SECOND IR THIRD OPINION. There are doctors who care.

Provider (Jennifer Abalos) makes you feel rushed, does not listen to the patient's concerns, and told patient that because they did not have typical symptoms that she was sure I did not have the medical issue. Upon gently requesting for the testing it was discovered that I did have the medical issue. The group does not allow you to call directly to the office, but forces all patients through a call center (was not aware of this until after becoming a patient). Any communication you have has to go through the message system in the app and there is not timely follow up.

No. With that being said, I also state that I canceled my subscription to NTPHP's concierge medicine (CM) practice in March (2024). If you are considering subscribing to a preferred provider practice, there are things you need to know when discussing your options with the doctor. I have made a career working with physician practices and seven years as a patient of NTPHP. I will give a detailed overview and opinion of why concierge medicine may not be for you. I grew up in an era where "your word was your bond" and your handshake was your seal. Be sure when discussing the advantages of a concierge medicine that the verbal commitments (sales pitch) align with the legal contract. Don't be misled into believing that this form of medical practice was designed for your benefit. It was not. I found that the breakfast cereal and pancakes were great and still eat those. I also liked the milkshakes and pudding and the protein bars. I added cauliflower rice to all of the lunch soups. I also purchased salmon and grilled chicken patties to add to meal prep. I also have green beans etc. I ate eggs and bacon a few days a week. I also felt that the cost of the program forced me to stay very diligent and nearly completely adherent. I refused to waste my money. The staff was very, very supportive. I would send a screen shot of my weight.
