Once settled her restaurant, pub and sightseeing tips were first rate. Bed was very comfortable and house was quiet (although we were travelling during the off season). Central location also makes it attractive to those who like their amenities close by. Should we ever get back to Cork we would return here to stay.

Upon arriving, Olive was warm, welcoming, and took care of us with a pot of tea and chocolates and a friendly disposition that made us feel as if we were her old friends just popping by for a visit rather than strangers meeting for the first time. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.

Sometimes there's tourist destinations that don't quite live up to the hype - The Blarney stone and…read morecastle is not one of those! I booked a day pass online and it was around 20 euros. I took the bus from Cork city and it was about a 30 minute ride. Very easy to find your way to the visitor center from the bus stop! The grounds are absolutely stunning with the most quintessentially GREEN Irish grass you've ever seen. The castle is stunning and the hike up to the stone is not for the fainthearted. Seriously, if you are claustrophobic or have mobility issues, this is probably not the attraction for you. But there's still plenty of beauty to see and enjoy without going to the top of the castle and kissing the stone. There's cute little gift shops with postcards, postage, and other trinkets. I'm so glad I took the time to visit Blarney - it was one of the most memorable parts of my trip by far!

The famous Blarney Stone!…read more It's quite the feat to get to the stone. You have to go on a challenging journey to find the "precious" stone. Cue in "my precious" from Lord of The Rings. The climb is narrow and steep. Some of the walkways are slim, and not for "bigger" people. I wouldn't recommend this journey for anyone that is plus sized. There's just not enough space. The steps are tiny and you have to put your foot sideways. Worth the journey if you can do the 120 steps!

Plus she makes an excellent breakfast! The rooms are more than adequate; but you're crazy to spend your time in Blarney in your room. Hopefully google maps has fixed this bug by the time you read this, but if not beware-- Google will try to take you right up to Blarney Castle, which is not where Pine Forest is located. Call Janet if in doubt; the B&B is actually about 5 minutes outside of the town square, on the road toward Tower.
