Came in for a cookie. There was already a long line with only one person working on a Saturday, which was fine. The lady in front of me finally goes, she gets an ice cream and tells the worker she also ordered a cake. The employee tells the lady she's early so it's not ready. At this point I am the only one left in line, and the only thing I want is a cookie from the display. So instead of helping me and getting me out the door, she tells me to wait 10-15 minutes while she decorates the cake. I had already been in there for 10 minutes, I was the last person in line. Marble Slab is looking a little worn these days. We came by during the last hour of the night and it was busy. A couple of the menu monitors weren't working, tables weren't clean, and the handwritten signs give the place a rundown feel. When we arrived there were four employees filling orders, but a couple of them disappeared by the time we reached the front of the line. The two that continued working did their best, in particular, the short, dark haired young woman was working at an impressive rate to fill to go and in-store orders. You have got to be kidding me? I paid $36.98 for this? I ordered an ice cream cake for my son's 18th birthday. I felt like I was paying quite a bit for it, but hey. You only turn 18 once. Right? I wanted something that was more like we have gotten at cold stone in the past (which is closed currently due to Covid). When I called she told me that she had a chocolate cake with a chocolate puck. It would have chocolate icing and Hershey's kisses. Perfect. She said she could write "Happy 18th, Dave" on the cake and asked what color. I told her that Super Mario colors like red, blue, green, and yellow would be great. What we got was a huge slab of chocolate ice cream with the tiniest bit of cake. No kisses. And it was honestly messy. I could have done a better job at home or found a better ice cream cake at the grocery store. My wife and I came in on Friday evening around 9pm. Three girls were working the counter. They were already out of almost all cones except sprinkle and plain (2 hours before close on a Friday). The girl who made my wife's cone grabbed it without gloves on, then set it on the dirty counter before mixing her ice cream on the slab. Even if I looked past all that, what the girl who made my shake did was inexcusable and disgusting. She made my shake and then for the mini marshmallows that go on top she stuck her un-gloved hand into the glass jar holding all of the marshmallows, grabbed a handful and then stuffed them into my shake. Pandemic or not, the last thing I want is someone else's hands touching all over something I'm paying to eat. I think some sanitary staff training is in order for this location. read more

Frustrating. Probably some of the best ice cream in town. Unfortunately, 20 people waiting in line and one of the girl workers (my wife thinks her name was Marissa) took a call/text on her phone - I'm not surprised or irritated at that. Then she walks to the parking lot, talks to her friends in a car and came back in and made 2 shakes over a 6 minute period. She was quite obviously trying to be discreet but 5-6 of us in line watched it happen very obviously. While her 2 co-workers tried to get 20 (literally, 20-25 paying customers in line the entire time) through, she had to delay everyone while she hooked her friends up. Hey I get it, we help our friends out, but when you make paying customers wait 30 minutes to pay $10 for 2 ice cream cones, it makes me want to go elsewhere - where they move as a team with a sense of urgency. The workers could have way better manners. If you want to go to a slow overpriced ice cream shop then this will be your stop. This was my first time at a Marble Slab. I had always thought it was a rip off of Cold Stone and only recently learned it came first by quite a few years. That said, it's a shame that the Marble Slab pales in comparison to its similar named competitor. The signature creation selection is probably about half that of Cold Stone. Not trying to turn this review into a huge comparison, the store looked okay overall. There was plenty of space for a few more tables than the three that were there. And what they did have wasn't cleaned up well. Staff consisted of one nice girl and one fairly antisocial/nonresponsive girl. Top it off with nothing-special ice cream and I don't think I'll be going back. I'd rather pay that same price for better tasting Cold Stone or Häagen-Dazs. read more

A sweet tooth led me to Marble Slab and it was fine. Nothing terrible, nothing spectacular... just a run of the mill ice cream spot that has quick service and a good selection. We used to go to this ice cream store and loved it.... but our recent experience is not good at all.... the people who work there are not polite and they treat the costumers very bad......Last time when we went to have nice cream there, we found hair in our ice cream, my friend who is pregnant was not feeling good after seeing it and she had to leave the store and go out. They did change our ice creams but they even did not apologize.... the girl who worked there was very very rude and when we mentioned it to her, she said " did they change your ice cream? I walked in and saw no masks on the staff which was nice to finally see after all this COVID mess. But then it went downhill, I stood in line for 40 minutes to get a single ice cream cone. There were only two girl employees who didn't have the muscle to mix the ice cream so every order took that much longer. On top of that, they worked with no sense of urgency and seemed to not care that there was a line through the door. At one point both employees went in the back and disappeared for several minutes while there was 15 people in line to the door. Their ordering structure is messed up too. After standing in line for 25 minutes waiting for a particular flavor, I saw them receive an online order and fill that order first. Because they did so, they ran out of one of the flavors I wanted and had been waiting almost half an hour for. I know it sounds petty, but trust me, when you wait 40 minutes for an ice cream cone from two ladies who seem like they hate their job and have no sense of urgency you become pretty observant. Great, great place! Ice cream shops tend to be super busy when you want ice cream (like after dinner), and this one is no different-BUT-this place works and gets you through the line fast. I have loved this place for years and years, it's not cheap but it's always worth it it has tons and tons of selections, and they actively advertise which is what led me to take a full scan of this place instead of just taking my ice cream and leaving. I went in to Marble Slab at 9:30 on 3/5/2020. First thing I noticed was the female working was touching all of the cones bare handed (yuck) and paid no attention to us waiting.. when we finally got helped by the male working it was 9:40 and he told us that they were just doing Ice cream and refused to give us any toppings mixed in. I understand that they were closing in 20 minutes and that can be frustrating, but regardless THEY ARE OPEN UNTIL 10. They don't get to "stop offering toppings" before closing time.. finally, when we were paying the male was snatching our money out of our hands and just being overall very rude. very unimpressed with this customer service. read more

The ice cream here is always pretty good. Now days ice cream seems expensive wherever you go. I was just disappointed in the upkeep of the store. The dining area was badly in need of a sweep and wipe of the tables. There was some areas that hadn't been dusted in a while. Normally I would give this location a good review but the ignorance that was experienced tonight ruined the place for me. My daughters went in for a treat and one of them has a nut allergy. Our family loves Marble Slab! It has brightened our day many times throughout the pandemic. The curbside pickup was quick and easy! My family and I went to the Marble Slab on 82nd and Quaker in Kingsgate Shopping Center on Saturday evening at 7:45 pm. This is the 2nd time this week that we went to this location and have left both times with the same result. Out of Chocolate Ice Cream. How does this happen? We were told it was still thawing. We had stood in line for 20 minutes before we were even told that it was thawing. I do not understand how an ice cream shop does not have chocolate ice cream ready to go when one runs out. We have given this particular Marble Slab many opportunities to earn our business and they have failed every time. Disappointing customer service. read more
