Love this place! Marché aux Puces (flea market) Saint-Michel (aka "Marché D'Antan," an antiques…read moremarket) is super fantastic, offering wide-ranging, assorted vintage finds from way over a century old to more recent gems! Nostalgic pieces, quality furniture, mid-Century, glassware, dining and cookware, kitsch, you name it! So much so cool! Absolutely check out all my pics! Certainly there are deals to be found. The vendors also really know how to present their wares. Plan on coming back to Marché aux Puces St-Michel on my next Montreal visit and recommend you stop by to discover either something to buy or make you smile! Keep in mind - It's only open Friday thru Sunday.

In terms of the things for sale, you could say this is a true flea market and for once, I didn't care that this indoor market didn't have a single food vendor. While I ended up snatching a bargain vintage shirt for $5, I saw everything from furniture and paintings to LPs and rugs. We spent a good 40 minutes both upstairs and downstairs, and would definitely return. There was parking behind the building but it was limited, and traffic immediately around the market was pretty heavy. We ended up finding street parking a few minutes walk from the market and didn't mind it at all. Although I had enough Canadian cash on me so paid in cash, I recall they accept an electronic payment method whose name I don't remember. I hope the marche stays open for a long time.

Alas! A Flea market free of dust! While we have our favorite Antique store ways from Old Montréal,…read moreEcoDépôt was our answer (about a 30 minute drive from Old Montréal) for items being right up our alley with a bunch of good prices. Plus I also get a kick out of finding as many cool items in Montréal (which somehow seem to look and sound classier than the same shiit I can get back home). Covering lots of square footage, EcoDépôt is what it sounds like located in an industrial area off the highway. The first two things I noticed walking in was their Piano and Bill Withers playing. And by the way, the rest of their 60's R&B playlist was cool to hear in these parts. If it's chairs you're looking for- they have variety. Leather chairs? Several. Lamps? Many- plus so much other things. Actually one of the things hubs noticed is how clean items are and don't have years of dust on them! I'm still adding finishing touches to my vanity room and was hoping I'd find a specific stud chair here- but left empty-handed. But I did find a royal blue, metal utility box for CAN$39-which I'll repurpose for some of my items. Service was super nice from Ilene(?). I made the purchase alright, but I also wanted to close on a sweet deal- and EcoDepot didn't bulge. So just remember...there's no haggling here. Although I didn't find that perfect 'je ne sais quoi' piece that I had to have- I came out with something else.

This is a fun place to spend an afternoon looking around at vintage furniture and household goods…read more I don't understand people who go to IKEA all the time when you can just as easily hit the thrift and vintage shops and score stuff which is A) Much cheaper B) Better made, and not the usual Made in China crap C) Unique and one-of-a-kind. Chances are none of your friends will find the same Rococo-style lamp base that you might find here. I collect vintage enameled cast-iron cookware like Copco, Le Creuset, Desco and I found a few pieces here in excellent condition and at a much cheaper price than I've seen elsewhere for the same thing. I think if you have a certain eye for design and aesthetics, you can easily find some stuff here, from kitchen table sets, to old toasters from the 1940's that with a little elbow-grease and watching how-to videos on Youtube, you can easily bring back to their former glory.

Surprising no one has written a Yelp review before for the Marché aux Puces (Flea Market)…read moreSaint-Eustache, but then again maybe not. Time Out had listed it in the top Montreal Flea Markets and my friend visiting from Europe had put flea markets on our to-do list, to peruse vintage Canadiana for potential gifts from her trip... so away we went. While the Time Out reco notes the outdoor portion expands during summer, what we saw outdoors in October including the entire indoors makes the visit not something I'd repeat. If you're looking for fantastic assorted vintage finds of all types and across centuries, hit the Marché aux Puces Saint-Michel! Here's about the Saint-Eustache flea market experience... 1) It's not easily reached. We had a car, but you can also get there by bus. It's a big schlep. You enter thru the Ciné-Parc (Drive-in Movie Theater) entrance, a beautiful structure with a "lost in time" feel. The flea market has parking far back by the screen and indoor building. 2) Other than the bakery and very few food vendors we saw, everything appears as if it was surplus inventory acquired in a liquidation sale years back or even decades ago. Do they say "schlock" also in Canadian French? They do have a "custom" T-shirt shop and a leather goods booth (belts, wallets, boots, "cowboy" hats, etc.) when you enter. Nevertheless, mostly the vendors offer a range of clothes from "new" (meaning unused, not from recently made) unfashionable sweatpants to undergarments that could be granny panties from the '80s that still haven't sold. There is no way any of these things are ever coming back into style. N-o-p-e! 3) A few vendors sell textiles like bedding, sheets and towels. My guess you can truly negotiate down to prices that would cover the extra bus/gas expense to get to St-Eustache. 4) Other assorted vendors are sprinkled in, such as collectible character crap, knob and hinge hardware, video cassette/DVDs, and someone to cut your hair. We have now crossed Marché aux Puces Saint-Eustache off our bucket lists... although it was never truly on them!
