Multiple areas to socialize and gather. Lots of history and cool art. We loved the onsite shopping/boutiques! Great for souvenirs and unique West Texas finds. We will always plan to stay here when we visit Marfa!

Accessibility and mobility concerns were a factor in our decision, and Hotel Paisano's website gave no indication that its elevator was out of service. Upon arrival, we were informed that the elevator was not working and would not be repaired during our stay. Every guest room requires climbing at least one flight of stairs, making this a significant issue for anyone with mobility limitations. What was most disappointing was not just the outage itself, but the fact that it was never disclosed before our arrival. We were also told at check-in that the restaurant was closed for renovations and no food service would be available. One of the reasons I selected this hotel was because the restaurant menu looked more appealing than those offered by other hotels in town. Again, this information was not communicated in advance. We were informed that the bar would remain open until 3 p.m. each day. However, when we visited around noon on Saturday, we were told we could not order drinks because the space was being reserved for a private party later that evening. That same party continued until 10 pm and the noise was loud enough to be clearly heard from our room. The party guests extended into the pool area. Event attendees were allowed to use the pool, and guests in formal attire were jumping into the water fully clothed. While that may have been entertaining for those attending the event, it created an atmosphere that felt more like a private venue rental than a hotel serving paying guests who were expecting a quiet and relaxing stay. The guests were also taking photos with a very bright flash camera. Every flash penetrated through both the sheer and formal sets of curtains in our room and made relaxing and sleeping impossible. Any one of these issues might have been manageable had they been disclosed before booking. Instead, guests were left to discover them only after arrival. I was particularly troubled by the apparent lack of concern regarding guests with mobility challenges. When a property has no practical access to guest rooms except by stairs due to an inoperable elevator, that information should be communicated prominently before a reservation is made so travelers can make informed decisions based on their needs. The hotel seems to rely heavily on its historic reputation and charm, but historic character should not come at the expense of transparency, accessibility, or guest service. The elevator outage, restaurant closure, restricted bar access, and late-night private event created an experience that felt far different from what was advertised.

And if you stay in Marfa, the Lincoln is a cute, very funky place to stay. The rooms are like Casitas and each one is different. Mine was huge, with two TVs and a big living room with a full kitchen. Bathroom was smaller than the coffin I usually use for daytime naps. But I digress. Small bathroom. Seriously. An afterthought. The Lincoln is a "nobody is going to be here to help you" Hotel. You just get the code to the room or it is simply open. No manager on site which was weird. I think I didn't like that. Oh, no on site parking. Street only. No food or snacks or restaurant on premises. BUT they had real coffee in the room which was a real bonus. I think Abraham was not a tea drinker. Easy to find place but be advised to bring any vittles you want or you could get very hungry as places close early Over all, a nice comfortable expensive place. Next time, if ever, I'm going to try the St. George which is like a normal hotel.

The linens and bedding were so good--super comfortable and cozy (Hi, Marfa brand I think?). Honestly, I wanted to take them home with me... if anyone knows where to buy them online, let me know. The Aesop bath products were also a big plus, though they accidentally had the hand soap in the shower and the body wash at the sink--and since they're locked in, there's no swapping them. Minor detail, but a little funny. Rooms themselves are large, open, and feel spacious, which I appreciated. Now for the downsides. The biggest issue was noise. You can hear pretty much everything--people walking above, talking next door, doors constantly slamming. Not ideal if you're hoping for a quiet, restful stay. The lighting in the room was also a bit lacking--definitely could've used an extra lamp or two to warm things up. The overall design is nice but starting to feel a little dated... kind of like a W Hotel refresh from around 2015 that hasn't been touched since. And the bathroom sink... I don't know what's going on there, but without any kind of filter on the spout, the water splashes everywhere. I somehow ended up with a wet shirt and pants just from washing my hands. A couple other things to note: the restaurant and bar seem to close early (around 9:30), and when we were heading out at 10, nothing was open--so not sure if they offer breakfast or coffee in the morning. If not, that feels like a missed opportunity. All that said, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and for a small town like Marfa with limited options, it's still a solid choice. Would I stay again? West Texas is vast, so decided to stay in Marfa for 3 nights. The weather in March is unpredictable, ie can swing from cold to hot so searched for a place w/a pool. Found the Thunderbird Hotel which ticked all my boxes: clean, modern, comfy bed, phthalate-free soaps and body products and nicely appointed intentional design details. The pool is unheated and I didn't end up using it but did enjoy watching TV at night in the Guest Lounge which also has a microwave, mini fridge, bathroom facilities, a comfy sectional couch and a selection of board games. It's about a 15 min. walk into town. March is off-season for this area but found a number of wonderful places to eat or drink: Bordos, Planet Marfa, Jett's Grill... Also got a tour of Building 98, an essential soak in Langford Hot Springs at Big Bend, a quick visit to Prada Marfa, the Judd Fdn, and other galleries around town. Angela is the manager and was huge help on getting me settled into my room (the hotel has a remote key system for checking in). The one thing I think all hotels could improve upon, including Thunderbird, is adding hooks for backpacks, purses, jackets, etc. and/or drawers or shelving so that all your stuff is not just sitting on the floor. Not finding reviews for this place I was not sure what to expect. Marfa House is a 3 story building that has been transformed into a place with several individual bedrooms with private bathrooms. Some with balconies. There is a common area with a fire pit and TV by the back entrance that is very enjoyable. And there is also a large living room with a nice sofa chairs and a small high top table to sit and eat or chat, play games or just enjoy. Sonya is the host that does the booking and handles the needs of the guests and she does a GREAT job at meeting the needs of guests. Roger is the owner, and he has a personality as big as TEXAS with a heart to match. Husband and I were lucky to meet and talk to Roger. I highly recommend Marfa House as a great place to stay in Marfa Texas. Please follow the house rules and park according, remove shoes in room and mind quiet hours.

Beds were comfy, towels from Sferra were very soft, malin and goetz shower supply was fabulous, and the tile in the showers was gorgeous along with the natural light beaming through the skylights of each bathroom. There is a gate that blocks you at the top of the long set of stairs to the apt. You share the building with an Andy Warhol exhibit and the best restaurant, Stellina. Pictures do not do this place justice. Thank you El Cosmico for providing lots of different and cute/modern options for all different group sizes!
