However, recently, the practice was sold to a new doctor: Doctor Maya Muthuswamy. Dr. Maya replaced both the pediatric and the adult doctors, who relocated a few months prior. When I came in, I was promptly called by the dental hygienist, as usual. She was amazing, respectful, and very nice to talk to. She cleaned my teeth well, did my x-ray, and explained some possible issues that might be going on. Then, as usual, she called the doctor to come take a look as well. In comes Dr. Maya. She was incredibly rude, and in her several minutes in the room with me, she never once said a word to me, not even a simple "hello". She only told me to open/close my mouth whilst making comments about how my "smile line wasn't great". She also seemed terribly aghast when she was informed by the hygienist that several years prior, I refused an expensive orthodontic procedure that wouldn't improve the health of my teeth: only the aesthetics. She then told the hygienist to make me sign up for a consultation with the orthodontist again, because surely I hadn't thought the decision through and required some more convincing. Additionally, simple questions about the aforementioned appointment and even my age were directed towards the hygienist, as if I wasn't capable of understanding or talking. After glaring at me for one last time, Dr. Maya left. The hygienist then turned to me and explained once more what Dr. Maya wanted (Dr. Maya herself couldn't explain, of course, because for some reason actually talking to me seemed beneath her), and answered my questions very well. Overall, the change in ownership severely degrades the quality of the establishment. The other staff I spoke to were very kind and helped me out, however Dr. Maya herself gave off a disrespectful and unprofessional air. I am very sorry to say that after many years of my entire family visiting, we will not be returning for more appointments or procedures.

I've showed up for my appt and no one is around to greet me for 10-15 min. My last straw was when i came in for my appt, and the dr literally said "I have to go" you're in good hands (meaning the hygienist) she left, I never even got to see my Dentist! So unprofessional

As a new patient I had filled out their…read moreforms and mailed them in about a month or so prior to my appointment (just a routine cleaning) to make sure everything went smoothly. I had to line up a babysitter for my two toddlers in order to go to the appointment. When I went in the tech acted like they had no information on me and started with the health history all over again. If they actually hadn't received the forms, you would think that they would have had me fill these out in the waiting room instead of the tech going through 2 pages of questions verbally. The first question she asked was if I'm under a doctor's care. I told her I'm under the care of an oncologist as I have breast cancer, but I am NOT currently on any treatment whatsoever as I have an upcoming surgery. The tech immediately stated that I would need clearance from my oncologist in order to receive a cleaning. I told her I don't need clearance as I'm not on any treatment (which means absolutely Nothing, no chemo, no medication), and if I needed clearance my oncologist would have told me so. She continued to insist that I need clearance and tried to call his office, which was not open for another hour. Then she tried to get me to come back in 3 hours. I told her I have two toddlers at home with a sitter and could not drag this out for another 3 hours waiting for a clearance that I don't need in the first place. She continued to go on about how its her license on the line even though I had signed an Informed Consent for Treatment document and sent it in with the rest of the paperwork. She made me feel as though I was a liar about not being on treatment, and a liability to her career because I have cancer. I finally gave up arguing with her and told her point blank that having cancer has already made my life a living hell, but now I can't even get my teeth cleaned because of it? Then I walked out the door. I understand the tech felt like she needed to keep herself covered but that's why they have patients fill out consent forms and release their liability if anything goes wrong. This office was beyond unprofessional, obviously disorganized, not to mention clueless and insensitive about their patients. I left there feeling as though I wasn't just a person needing a routine cleaning, just a big red X with cancer that they wanted nothing to do with.
