Stopped into Mariana's on Sahara and was impressed with how fresh everything looked. The produce section had some great prices, and I loved that they were giving out samples. The bakery is definitely a highlight--the sweet breads and tortillas are worth the trip alone. Customer service was friendly, though it did take a little longer to get checked out. Overall, a great place to shop for authentic ingredients and some hard-to-find items, but be prepared for it to be busy at peak times. read more

Came on a week day with the family to get all the good to make some tacos and desserts for a small gathering. We were very lucky that's they had chicken fajita meat for $2.49 a lb and all the fixings. I absolutely adore anything homemade and I love the tortillas and chips as well as the very fresh guacamole. We were lucky enough to snag all the goods for tacos as well as some pan dulce and tres leches sliced cakes. The prices are great especially for what you get, and I love how fresh their produce is. It's a bit of a drive for me but worth it for all the great deals. It's a very clean store and definitely worth every penny. My famiky and I will be back especially since this week we will be making homemade tamales and they have great prices on all the ingredients. read more

Woohoo! I'm so happy. My new job has me closer to the LV Strip and Marianna's is on my way home. I used to shop when I lived East of the Strip. But now this is my new spot on the West side of the Strip! I met Greg in the meat/fish dept and he's super nice and helpful. I'm obsessed with the Aguachile Camaron. One of my favorite bakeries for Mexican sweet bread, the conchae are fluffy clouds of balanced sweetness with a touch of cinnamon. I love the fresh masa here compared to the rest of the Mexican brands in town. I love the fresh corn tortillas, they're warm and ready to be used for enchiladas. All the Mexican ingredients, dry goods, produce and even snacks. Their horchata at the snack area is my favorite and the peach tres leches from their bakery is superb. read more

The made in house chips are low in salt, but I'm fairly sure the nutritional info lowballs the fat and calories. The absolute best thing I've ever eaten from here is their cantaloupe agua fresca. They always serve this fresh juice served with chunks of melon, but when they do, a quart is a steal for $3.99. The only thing i would like to see them improve on would be the customer service, i felt like the cashier didnt even care about her job at the end of the day. One thing ive learned is that even if your mot happy fake it for the 3 mintues, you change a persons whole day. read more

You grab a box and lid from the end of the counter and proceed to entertain your fancy thru each glass door shelving case. There are tongs in each case. Everything was very clean. An employee was designated for that area and kept it very well taken care of. There is a cold display case as well, if you want delights from this display case, they will put them in individual containers for you. I honestly found all of the pastries I was looking for, and then some. You pay for your pastries right at the bakery, so no walking around or standing in lines that don't pertain to you. It is with sadness that I'm giving this place a two star rating, and the only reason I didn't give it a one star is the memories of how good it used to be. My beef burrito was so bad that I threw it away! The flour tortilla, possibly made in-house, was raw and saggy, the beef and rice were dry and bland; it was pretty bad! 100% authentic legit Mexican food. Portions are huge and very affordable, my burrito which I couldn't finish was only $5.50. You can also get fresh fruit juices, 32oz for only $2.50. The staff will even let you try a sample of the juices of you can't make up your mind. Your meal also includes a salsa bar with tortilla chips. These are big thumbs up in my book. As a bonus you can even shop in the supermarket and the prices are very reasonable. The only drawback is that it's in a somewhat gritty neighborhood and not everyone may feel comfortable going here. read more

Let me start with the good: they sell very good corn tortillas that are made fresh. I got some around lunch one day and they were still warm in the package. So I had to resist the urge to just open the package and munch on them. Ok, now the less good. I didn't like the meat quality in the tacos I ordered from them. Went this morning to get a cheese cake for one of my employees birthday. When the older lady came to box up my cake since the young gentleman was helping another customer, she paused....cleaned her glasses and then COUGHED into my cake! She proceeds to try and box the cake but I stopped her. I stated to her, you just coughed on my cheese cake and you're trying to sell me that one? You didn't even cover your mouth when you coughed. I asked for another one but seems that she didn't understand what I was saying so the young gentleman had to come and translate for me. This is not good business and very unsanitary to say the least. Bakery, salsa and food court: I think these are the highlights of Mariana's. As with most people, I usually end up here after eating Indian across the parking lot. The scene is chaotic, and yes, from time to time they will have great deals on produce. There might also be some harder to find produce items (such as cactus pears) and spices for cheaper than your average spot. However, the produce does not always look delicious, and there may be a handful of loitering flies that make browsing the produce a little distracting. It is a bit crammed and chaotic, definitely not a low key shopping experience as you must be on your toes dodging carts and kids. However, in the back they have some fresh salsa that for $1.99 is a delicious steal, especially given the nice heat level. It will definitely open up your sinuses. And, the bakery counter is always tempting. I am making a mental note to come here the next time I have a last minute need for a birthday cake, as they have some ready to go beautiful, frosted cakes. (No, I am not talking about the models, which had my husband fooled!) Then, there is the food court area with Mexican food. I haven't tried anything here yet, but I have always wanted to. They have a pretty diverse menu with everything from tacos to menudo. I would avoid weekend crowds, and go in with a mission! read more

It LOOKED decent of a place to shop. Unfortunately, we went went today on a Sunday afternoon and the word to describe it is clusterfuck city. We have to shop on a weekend because it's our only time together to do so. Nothing the BF can't stand than a crowd of inconsiderate shoppers- blocking your way, standing in the middle of the aisle having a conversation, etc, etc.. Other than Wal-Mart, Mexican groceries are notorious for it. I grew up in Cali and I only found Cardenas market by my moms to be pleasant because it was huge enough for everyone to be the village idiot. This place however is not with very narrow aisles not good enough to let two carts go through comfortably. I started at produce and couldn't even get through to look around.... I wanted certain things that I can only get at a Mexican market- spices, certain kinds of hot sauces, etc. and I heard the bakery tres leches was decent. I guess I have to keep on living without it. I know that the market can't quite control the crowd, but when you get that busy and want to stock that much product- please do what SF market did and get a bigger place. We came in, and after 5 minutes I had to leave and went to Super SF Market to do a Asian based week instead. read more

Mariana's Supermarket - Total waste of my $8 - Imported Food Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

We used to come here after meals at Mt. Everest, usually just to check to see if they had any watermelon Jarritos. (They never did - I finally learned how to make my own so we could stop driving across town to The Skeevy Albertsons that stocks it.) We'd always talk about getting some pineapple empanadas, my favourite, but of course those are the plans laid by fools *before* they have a belly full of Indian food. Everyone was always nice at Mariana's, especially when putting up with my awful gringo accent when selecting pastries. (The bakery staff doesn't seem comfortable with English, which is fine. It's a Mexican supermarket, after all, and it's not hard to point at something and say, "Dos, por favor.") I never liked the crowds at Mariana's, though. I don't mean to fly the Uptight DINK del Norte flag or anything, but this is not a place for a casual look around. (Which is ironic, considering that's what the crowds seem to do... complete with signature horizontal buggy-block and extra obstacles coming from a cloud of children.) Often my husband and I would wedge ourselves into a corner while we decided what to buy, rush into the throng to grab what we needed, then retreat. When I read other reviews detailing people's "finds," all I can think is "Um, we have that at my local Albertsons. And Smith's. And Walmart." Mexican limes? Goya stuff? Queso Oaxaca? Done, done, and done. This is Las Vegas, not rural Michigan. Which is not to say that you can't get unique items at Mariana's - I'm sure you can. Just because I've never had to use the "Sources" section in the back of Diana Kennedy cookbook doesn't mean I won't someday find a recipe that sends me running to a proper Mexican grocer. (They do have Squirt made from sugar in glass bottles. I'll give them that.) Except... okay, I never really looked beyond Mariana's because it's a good-sized store and has nice sweets and, like I said, I don't even actually have to go to Mariana's to get tamarind candy or bulk pinto beans, and good carne asada is wasted on this vegetarian. True, I thought the tortillas were mealy and disappointing, but Fresh and Easy does a jalapeno/cilantro tortilla that, while not as fresh, has me covered. (Sorry.) Then one day, just a few weeks ago, one of my students mentioned Cardenas. "What's that?" "Miss, you've never heard of Cardenas?!" So, the next time after the hubs and I extricated ourselves from the snarl of people at Mariana's, I said, "You know, I heard of this other place..." Well, the rest is history. This isn't the place for a Cardenas review, but here's the skinny: Cardenas is spacious, pretty, and has the same pastries as Mariana's, but with a self-serve option. I know there are many who will tsk-tsk that I'm abandoning what might be perceived as the more "authentic" and "human" experience of Mariana's, but people, I just want to shop. I have actual Mexico a day trip away for when I want cultural enrichment. But if you - in all seriousness - like a more "throng of humanity"-style shopping experience, right down to the parking lot, or if you just need to walk off a samosa... or to send in a pineapple empanada to keep the samosa company, Mariana's is a competent supermercado with all the staples. read more

Love this store! Cheap produce 3 bunches of cilantro for like .59, and a couple of chiles to make some salsa. Went to the bakery and grabbed some pan dulce (pastries) 1 dozen conchas for $3.99!! (so I got 2 dozen and took them to the kids classroom for Cinco). Picked up fresh made tortillas (and they were still warm!) to make some enchiladas. In my last review of Mariana's, I was a bit critical of the overcrowding, the horrible looking oranges, and the small location. The size of the store is nothing I can control. BUT, I have been back here several times and my experiences have been a bit better. The oranges have consistently been fantastic and the pricing has been very competitive. Although I have to be careful about which oranges go in my bag, I'm noticing that the quality of the product has increased significantly over the past few months. Also, their fresh bakery is quite good. Cookies, breads and such tend to be full of flavor, and taste like they just came out of the oven. Worth checking out. One big thing that I overlooked last time. The bathrooms. Legit. You'd think for an ethnic market that the bathrooms would be sub-par, but this is not the case at this particular Mariana's. Nice little market. Relatively organized, albeit pretty tight quarters. I spent most of my time trying to get out of people's way or maneuvering around other shoppers. I wish the aisles were a bit wider and not so filled to capacity. Otherwise, It's a great place to get all your favorite Mexican grocery items. I always have a hard time staying away from the pan dulce, as well as the food court area. They have lots of great items to purchase at great prices.
