Expensive! I just came by to check the place out because people have been telling me about it. The produce dept had done a good job keeping stuff clean and organized. I went to see if they made fresh tortillas, but appeared that they only made corn. I really wanted flour. I proceeded to the meat counter to see what they had. Their prices are outrageous! $16.99/lb for arrachera? U got to be kidding.. Diesmillo was $8.99/lb? Nah man, I'm good. This store is just not for me. i was actually surprised at how clean this market is and excellent variety of meats they have, everything looked very fresh and high quality at excellent competitive prices per lb. They also have a built in restaurant in the market which i personally haven't tried, they have lots of pan dulces and daily fresh made pastries and they do have a few fruits and veggies in the front but it's not a big variety- better said the essentials. Definitely would be making the drive to this market for their meats! read more

I ordered and paid for a tray of carne asada and tortillas for Super Bowl on the Friday before the game. They wrote down the pick up time, date and my phone number. Went to pick it up and they said they did not start making it yet. The girl leaves to talk to the manager, comes back and says they didn't make it because I didn't pay the tax. What?? Apparently they didn't charge me tax when I prepaid. I prepaid $95 and the tax was $8. They didn't call me, I would have paid the tax over the phone or even drove down there to pay it. Had to wait 25 minutes for them to cook the meat. When we started serving our guests, we saw that they did not give us the tortillas. If anyone wants a meat tray, go to Pepe's, Cardenas or Superior market. This place is a joke. read more

Came here to try the $2 Al Pastor taco Tuesday special, since I had tried the tacos at their food truck which I really liked. Unfortunately whatever recipe they use here is not the same as the food truck. These tacos were super greasy, and also didn't include the same toppings and sauce the food truck uses. I also tried one of their donuts here which was alright. I probably won't return and will just stick with going to their taco truck. read more

November 13th visit around 4:30 P.M. Review # 61 of 2023 I'm a fan of the butchers (5) at this business. They always give good service and are almost always precise when it comes to measuring the meat weight. This 5 star rating is for them. Vegetables are decent in price and selection. Cashiers are hit or miss, but mainly miss despite being very respectful to them. Some are on the phone when they're ringing up your purchase and won't greet or thank you for your business which sours up the experience and expectation here. Easily one of the best "go to" Mexican Grocery & Carniceria's you will find in Las Vegas. Wow! Is the only way I can begin this review. Los compadres came through in a big way for my schools cinco de mayo party. We had a huge order and had originally planned on going through taco y taco but they were too busy with it being cinco de mayo. The people at taco y taco told us about Los compadres (same owners), and they were beyond helpful. And the FOOD! Oh my gosh the food was so amazing. From the fresh tortillas they made us the day of to the al pastor. Everyone loved it and had a great cinco de mayo fiesta! I absolutely 100% Love this freaking place. It's not the largest Mercado I've been to nor does it have the widest selection, but what they do have is f*cking fantastic. I'm kicking myself in the ass for not taking pictures of this south of the boarder culinary wonderland. The meats and produce are always fresh. Their selection of marinated meats are absolutely fantastic. From fajita chicken, to 3 or 4 different cuts of carne asada, to the adobada seasoned pork and beef. All of their tortillas are made fresh and in house. In fact you can see them making them daily, and of course they are frying them up as well for chips. Their salsas are also made fresh and in house as well. Since I left southern California I've been on this never ending search to find the perfect little Mercado and I'm happy to say after 3 years my search has come to an end. They have great tasting meat. The seasoning is fantastic and it's always a hit at all my bbq's. The reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because the people who work there do not give a single flying f*** about their jobs. The guy handing me the meat was very unsanitary about it and had meat juices all over his face and on the bag I grabbed from him. I asked for boneless chicken and he refused and told me to grab the pre-packaged chicken that was already seasoned l. He obviously did not care that I wanted boneless chicken and I ended up taking a bone in chicken and I got an EAR full from my father when I got home with the meat. Before Cardenas and El Super, there was Los Compadres. The OG super mercado on the East Side. After all these years and the competition down each street, it still stays afloat. Prices are a little higher if you're comparing it to the other two, but there are a few things worthy of coming here. #1 is their Ranchera meat. Ever wanted to cook up some good carne asada? I've learned that the best and easiest way to get this done is by buying it! Who knows how to marinade better than these guys?! I've tried every ranchera on the East and I have to say that Los Compadres sells the best I've ever had. It's $8 per pound, but I'll gladly pay. They use high quality meat that cooks to be so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Another secret to this place is their restaurant in the back. I saw a sign outside of the Taco Y Taco menu right next to the Los Compadres sign. I was so excited, I thought, "Taco Y Taco is here too?!" I went in all excited and ordered 1 carne asada and 1 al pastor taco ($1.70/taco). I asked the cashier if the tacos were from Taco Y Taco, but she said they are Los Compadres. I don't know why they have the menu outside if they aren't from the restaurant...but as I sat down and ate my taco, I realized that the tables were the same style as the tables at Taco Y Taco on Tropicana (who wouldn't recognize the old school look with the rose in the middle). Coincidence? Maybe if I spoke Spanish, I would've learned the back story to sign and tables and I'd be able to tell you guys about it. But I could only speculate that maybe Taco Y Taco started in Los Compadres and worked its way up to what we know now. But long story short, the tacos were really frickin' good!! They filled it up so much that I couldn't take a bite without meat dropping. The meat was juicy and fresh! It also comes with cilantro, onions, and your choice of red/green salsa. They also burritos, pupusas, plates, and dessert, ceviche, and more. I'll definitely be back for tacos and I'm excited to try what else they have on the menu! read more

FOOD POISONING!!! Do not eat at this place! I stopped by for some lunch and thought since they've been in business for so long that they would've had a good reputation. Low and behold this was not the case! I had some pork ribs as a combination plate with rice and beans, some corn tortillas, and a hibiscus drink. That night I lost my appetite and by the morning I felt sooo bloated. By the afternoon I was throwing up with a fever of 102. Needless to say it was coming out of both ends.
