My wife and I went to Marida last night for the first time after hearing so many good things. From the atmosphere, to the service, to the food and drinks, it did not disappoint in the least! The restaurant itself is very cool and has an upscale feel to it. The drinks were handmade from scratch and were fantastic. The food was amazing as well. My wife and I split the sampler for 2, which came with plenty of food. Highly recommend! read more

This is the place to go for some outstanding food and service!!! Great ambience bc the view of the river and beautiful night was perfect. Went on a Friday night and had a very short wait at around 6:30 for three of us , but was able to find a seat at the bar to grab a quick drink before being seated 15 min later. All of my party had various different drinks and they all tasted fabulous and were varying types. Loved their atmosphere and extensive menu. Anything from baba ganoush, to kabobs, seafood in a clay pot to lavosh. The seafood dish I got was full of clams, mussels, shrimp, octopus, and calamari and came with a side of yellow rice. Was seasoned and cooked perfectly and was plentiful. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions. He also was a sommelier and was quite knowledgeable about the wine I was having. It was our first time dining here and everyone was extremely happy with our food and experience. Excellent atmosphere and food! Everything on the menu was great from cocktails, Doner, kebabs, pide, balloon bread, baklava, and Turkish coffee. For those not feeling adventurous to try something new they have fettuccine Alfredo and flat bread. Served was friendly and gave great recommendations. The wait staff is very professional. The restaurant is busy but service is prompt. Food is very good to excellent. So why not 5 stars? The last time we went, there was a very heavy deodorizer smell. Beautiful restaurant in a riverfront setting. We had a group of 7 and had the festival meal, which consisted of a variety of dips, grilled meats of beef, lamb chops, chicken, saffron rice, slaw salad, and grilled tomatoes. Food was outstanding. We have been to a number of middle eastern restaurants in California where we live, and I have to say this was the most well-presented, mouth-watering and carefully prepared meal we've had. I never expected to be so delighted with a local restaurant. Absolutely everything about my experience was great. The restaurant is nicely decorated and even has quite a lot of table seating outside by the river. The waitstaff were all very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I am pleased to say that the food was amazing. I have not had Mediterranean food this good in many years. The appetizer plate was a mix of perfectly prepared and seasoned dips and salads. I suggest you get it with some tasty ballon bread. We had a chicken kebab that would melt in your mouth with an amazing presentation and a lamb kebab that was delicious. A perfectly prepared baklava was the finishing touch. And to top it all off, the prices were more than reasonable. I even made the waiter check to be sure he hadn't left something off the bill. I hardly ever write reviews but this place was so good I felt they deserved it. I am already looking forward to my next visit and bringing friends. read more

Newburgh, what a treat it was to be home for a visit to see family and find such excellent food served fresh and made by great people. If you haven't tried the Turkish take on Mederterian food served and made by the Kurdish folks at Marida you are missing out. After an excellent mixed drink (a version of a summer Gin and Tonic), our light-ish lunch included fresh bread and humus, lentil and ministone soup, avocado and arugala salad with beats, and a doner wrap. All the ingredients were fresh and the doner meat (marinated lamb) was so succulent, perfectly marinated. Even our picky teenager loved her Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and said it was the best meal ever. But save room for desert, because the options are plentiful and you can only eat so much. I went for the Melting Chocolate Ball (out of this world), while others went for affogatos and cheesecake. Just incredible handmade deserts, plentiful with an abundance of Turkish coffee and chocolate options. I chose to round my indulgence off with a delightful Turkish coffee. Our service team was excellent and attentive, but gave us room to talk. Oh, did I mention the atmosphere sitting outside overlooking the river with the wind blowing gently, it couldn't have been better environment for lunch. Memories were made - we'll be back again to try more of the extensive menu on future trips back to Newburgh. Until then, don't sleep on Marida, otherwise you're missing out on a gem. read more

The food was not good it was cold & bland. The service was unprofessional with bad jokes & I had to ask for water twice. We had to ask them to remove plates that we were finished with so they could put the next plates on the table, they just kept trying to cram plates on our table that clearly would fit. When we arrived, with a reservation already made, they acted surprised that we were there & had to scramble to find us a small table by the kitchen, leaving us feeling unwelcome & "in their way".
