I went in on a Monday (they are open 7 days a week, a rarity with bakeries here). There was a nice selection of pastries, breads, and takeaway items for lunch. I bought several pastries for my husband: a tropezienne, chocolate eclair, custard slice, and a raspberry tartlet. The custard filling for the eclair and tropezienne was tasty and smooth. However, the pastry for both and the custard slice felt stale. The person who helped me was polite and helpful.

They had told me about the chocolate shop there and admittedly I was doubtful that their chocolates could beat another shop I frequently visit. I ate my words when I ate Aztek's chocolates. I have never had dark chocolate that was so smooth and creamy. There are a variety of fillings, many of which are locally sourced like Armagnac and saffron. The cost of a box of 40 bon bons was 1/4 of what I had been paying in a similar shop AND Aztek is closer. In addition to the chocolates, they have pastries, ice cream, crepes, specialty groceries, coffee, tea, and gourmet boxes. The gentleman that helped me was very kind and provided us each with a chocolate of our choosing to taste. I will become a regular here and can't wait to try each one of their delicious chocolates.

The products are all seasonal and locally sourced. There are tables to sit down and it is a popular place to have lunch in addition to shop. In an era where it is increasingly common to shop at hypermarchés, it is great to be able to support local businesses. Parking is tight near the market but there is the lot at "the Cube" two blocks away. It is open 6 days a week (closed Mondays), and is open 8:00 am - 2:00 pm every day except Friday and Saturday, when it is open 8:00 am - 7:00 pm.
