I lived at California Apartments with a longtime friend and roommate from October 1, 2018 until Jan…read more3, 2024. I didn't leave because of choice, it was because my mother was at the end of her life with hear failure. My mom wasn't able to do anything on her own without losing her breath, and she was on oxygen 24/7. I originally went to visit my mom and stay for a few days. She lived in Trenton which is 1 hr and 20 min away from Absecon, NJ. But after I saw her I knew I'd have to stay. She didn't look well at all. I told the the lady in the office that I'd be leaving earlier than my lease term due to extenuating circumstances. I was told to write a letter and pay for the next month, which was Feb, March, April, May!! Then I was told I was still not in good standing due to a lack of communication and I paid again !! They knew my mother was literally dying and they were picking my pockets dry !! I loved this complex and the office workers at one time, I'm confused as to why everything went so wrong. My roommate told me he brought a letter to them and he was done. After that he remained at the apartment until early June 2024 and left. Never told me where he went or that he wasn't coming back until I received an email stating that I was blocked. My mom passed away June 10, 2024 and George left after having someone live there without my knowledge. I had to leave everything behind because I had absolutely zero help and was moving my mom's house in Trenton while I was getting what I could without a moving truck in Absecon. Now I'm being sued for $3000 by Manor Management while grieving the loss of my mother and as my ex friend and roommate hides in another state!! I did what I could do. Paid the last months rent, George brought the letter to the office and now after a clean slate of never being late paying my rent in almost 6 years this is what I get !!

When inquiring about a 1 bedroom apartment The SLUMLORD DOV TWERSKY sent misleading pictures of the…read moreunit and gave misrepresenting descriptions of the apartment and the appliances that came in it. In the photos he sent one included a playground that is city owned and not even on the property, pictures include washer and dryers that were in a separate closet but in reality were not in their own closet but actually the living room closet taking up the entire space. The kitchen is significantly smaller then the photos and noticeably missing the dish washer Dov said was there and the bedroom was barley big enough for a full size mattress. The whole unit was small, old and nasty. But the point of this review is to talk about how i had to threaten litigation against SLUMLORD DOV TWERSKY to get my holding deposit back that he said initially was refundable. Due to COVID-19 i had to wait until the unit became vacant to see it for the first time and he requested a $250 holding fee so i could be the first to see it. Well. That was a lie. I saw it and it was disgusting and small and i hated it so i asked for my deposit back and he informed me that bc he lost out on potential renters bc of me that he wouldn't be refunding my money. Sent an email requesting my money again after another conversation with him and that time he told me to "accept that this is as good as it's going to get" and offered me a 50/50 split. I declined and informed him of my legal rights to seek representation and that that money was given in good faith for me to be the first to see the unit and if i don't get it back in full I'd be suing him in landlord/tenet court. After that phone call he then proceeded to ignore calls from me and refused sending the email with his superiors contact information. Wasn't until 4 days after seeing the apartment did i get a email saying he would issue a full refund. DOV TWERSKI is the most disgusting human i have ever met. He tried taking advantage of me Bc i am a female and he tried bullying me into keeping my $250 refundable holding deposit. THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND NORTHRIDGE TOWNHOMES!

I'm a resident of Amity Ramble Apartments. I've lived here for 35 years (I'm telling my age) and…read moreI've seen way too much unnecessary hardship for this low income area to not say anything. Currently we have a part time manager by the name of Jennifer Dorsey. She is an employee of Community Realty Management. According to HUD, they hired Community Realty Management to take over the ownership of these apartments. Since that exchange of ownership, Amity Ramble has gone to hell in a hand basket. In the last 3 months, we've had 3 manager changes. 2 maintenance changes and no direction or communication between tenants and owners. We're just left to guess what's going on behind the scenes. At the end of June our first manager, Jennifer, left without notifying anyone. Us tenants only found this out from our maintenance man at the time, Curtiss (who was a wonderful worker and great man who went above and beyond to do his job. Unfortunately he left for a better job where he was treated better by tenants.) After Jennifer left, complaints were filed because it was a good month or 2 that we had no manager, exterminators or maintenance. Trash wasn't being collected, nothing was being cleaned and there was no one we could report our housing problems to. Suddenly letters were put in our mailboxes that stated we had a new manager named, Octavia Bowen. Though she came around for inspection one time, that was the last time any tenant ever saw her. Though Curtiss was no longer an employee for Amity Ramble, he was still called on to do repairs and small cleaning duty in our area. Before the end of August, Octavia was gone. Again, no notice or anything. By word of mouth, the news of Octavia just up and leaving was spreading among tenants. Once again, we were left with no manager, no exterminators and no maintenance. As well as no way of calling the main office because it went from being directed to Amity Ramble main office to Lakewood Apartments, to "Paper Goods", to "This number has been disconnected" and now the number has been reconnected but the voicemail hasn't been set up so there's no point of calling. As of late August, tenants notified each other that Jennifer Dorsey was once again, manager. However, barely anyone saw her as she's never in the main office. She comes to pick up packages, letters, mail, etc but as we've been told by our new maintenance man, she's "part time." The only person doing their job IS the maintenance man. Tenants can't say what the manager is doing, because we don't see her. We never get to speak with her. The "Regional Manager" Michelle Nuzzo is never at her desk, therefore your calls go unanswered with her. Anytime you can get in contact with someone at Community Realty Management, they either have no idea what's going on or they know but they can only tell you but so much. There's no point in complaining about CRM to HUD because according to them, they can't do anything because they have a contract with CRM. I'm not a lawyer but we were even told by previous maintenance that our current situation is grounds for a lawsuit. A lot of tenants don't have central air. We had to use fans and window units (that were only put in 2 rooms) during the hot Summer. Homes need new paint jobs, immenities need fixing, the exterior looks like a jungle. God forbid tenants stop paying rent because they don't have all the basic things that are in the HUD rules, their rent will increase significantly and that's not how it should be. What are tenants paying rent for? Broken garbage disposals? Living with mice? No central air systems in hot seasons? One of my neighbors has Cancer. He currently lives in a 2nd floor apartment. With his walker, he has to go up and down those stairs whenever he needs to go for a walk, go to the store, etc. He's fallen down in his home once already and laid there for 15 minutes before, luckily, his sister came to visit and found him. He was supposed to get a 1 level apartment, but the manager gave it to someone else who didn't need it as badly as he does. Community Realty Management is just getting paid at this point. They're not doing their job properly, they haven't been doing it properly according to their Google reviews where people in other states have complaints about this company. They're just collecting checks while people live in horrible, miserable conditions.

They want to hold us accountable for the bi-laws and fine us for breaking rules on our own property, but they have yet to have a community meeting which is required at least twice a year by the bi-laws. I don't even see why we need them. All they do is maintain some retention ponds and landscape common ground. I turn the land over to the City we live in and let them maintain it.
