This store has been around forever and a day. It hasn't changed in decades, other than some of the merchandise they sell. It has never been remodeled, I don't think, probably because they don't need to. Standard Market vibe. They have a good selection of local beers. My hubby was able to get some cans from "Public Coast Brewing" that was about 100 yards away- so micro local! And, we weren't able to go to the brewery itself- since it was closed during the snow storm, so it was nice to try their beer in our hotel room! And, this market has a good selection of necessities as well- I was able to find an over-the-counter- medicine that I needed as well as some fun Gummi Candies that they had, that a lot of other stories don't carry. read more

I'm sure there are cheaper places within driving distance, but Mariner Market has a nice selection of the basics plus nice high-end options and it's within walking distance of most hotels in Cannon Beach. If you're looking for cheese, crackers, and charcuterie there are lots of good options. Wine? Surprisingly good selection including [cold] Champagne, sparkling & white wines plus a nice variety of reds at just about every price point. Need yogurt or cereal for breakfast, they've got it here. Fruits & vegetables, a small section on the side of the store but seemed to be decent quality on a recent visit. I may have had low expectations, but I was very pleasantly surprised by Mariner Market this year. Very well done for what it is. read more

Mariner Market is a small town grocery store -- if you had no choice, you could get by shopping there. They have the basics at reasonable prices, but don't have much selection. This is a standard store with a variety of essentials, but for a town with expensive tastes (i.e. high priced restaurants), the food offerings are surprisingly limited. They do however have a fair number of "general store" type offerings -- i.e. some toys and games, greeting cards, beach shoes, etc. So for utilitarian purposes, it may meet the need. If you want sophisticated food, better to try Fresh Foods at the south end of town. read more

It's a grocery store in a touristy area. If you go in with that mindset, everything will be great. The fruit and veggies looked mostly tired and the box of organic Triscuits we bought expired the day we got them. But if you need English muffins or Cheez-Its, Mariner Market does the trick. I understand that because it is located near a touristy area and farther away from the large city that things cost more but still, it was pretty unaffordable to come here. I preferred the coziness and small town feel of the market in Manzanita, but the people were quite nice here as well. Yes, Mariner Market is a bit more expensive than the average grocery store, but you're paying for the convenience of not having to leave town and it's not all that much more expensive than the other grocery store in South Cannon Beach. While I wouldn't stock up the whole kitchen here, they are great for picking up smaller items like an onion or two, or a gallon of milk. They also have a fairly large selection of wines and beers. The staff have been friendly and good about wearing masks, keeping distance, etc. during Covid. Overall I'm happy to have a convenience/grocery store in town! read more

This market was another highlight in a wonderful beach vacation. They have a great selection of souvenirs, vacation necessities like hats, sunblock and kites, as well as quality grocery items. My family enjoyed the deli the very most. After days of restaurant meals, our family of 5 was seeking something much more casual and less expensive! We found it at Mariners Market. The deli sandwiches (most of us got the club), and hot items really hit the spot. They had a special, which was so unexpectedly delicious, it was a spicy hot dog plate with fresh pico de Gallo. They don't carry fresh seafood here...guessing they have a deal with the fish market...but they have everything else you could possibly need from a grocery store when you are traveling at the beach. Perfect for a deli sandwich picnic on the beach since it's a hassle to get togo from other sit down restaurants. Sandwiches are hearty with fresh meat cuts and veggies like avocados and olives. This was my family's one-stop shop for deli sandwiches, fruit, snacks, packaged meat and rental movies for a night in, miscellaneous beach items, and emergency toiletries. We stopped by a few times within our 5-day stay for various items, whether between beach trips or after walking around the boutique shops in the area. Location is perfect since it is right off the main Hemlock st but still has ample parking once you turn in. Its actually right beside the public parking lot. The best part about this store is the staff. We met the owners and they seem like honest people doing a great job keeping this place as helpful as possible for cannon beach comers. I also heard them discussing new freight for that afternoon so seems like they update their inventory regularly. Protip: there is a separate Birkenstocks store on the second floor through another entrance that faces Hemlock st. My sister and I had been on the hunt for some and finally managed to snag pairs for ourselves. The manager is friendly and works with you to get a good fitting. read more

Mariner Market really has everything you need when visiting Cannon Beach. The exterior may look a bit like a fishing supply shop, but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you walk in. Also, parking is super easy with a huge public lot right in front. A few reasons why this place deserves 5 stars: First, the owners are SO SWEET! If you're lucky enough to run into them, definitely say hello. They're an elderly couple who love their customers and are just so, so kind. They've had this business for years and know what they're doing. Second, this store has everything from groceries and drinks to bug spray and beach balls. So convenient when you're spending the weekend at Cannon Beach and need a quick, one stop shop for all your needs. You can also rent movies on DVD for cheap. Third, there's a fresh deli inside that makes amazing sandwiches packed with super fresh ingredients (quality turkey, smoked ham, avocado, olives, pickles, everything). Had a whole sandwich for $7, a half for $3.50. The surrounding food places on the main street are mostly pricy sit-down restauraunts, so this deli is great for a quick bite or a packed lunch to take to the beach. Oh, they also have a Birkenstocks shop upstairs. I myself bought a pair and love them! The size range is extensive and the staff really helpful. It's a cute little shop that overlooks the market with a balcony to view. Loved this store, and made multiple visits throughout my stay here. Definitely check it out. read more

This place is not just a hidden gem.. it's a treasure trove of essentials and comforts to suit any need. A variety of food selections from snacks to core groceries makes this little market the best spot in Cannon Beach to shop for your weekend getaway or road trip drive through restock spot! The Market itself has great prices and cordial staff.. but the Deli is the reason why this review is being written. We had such a great experience I was determined to talk about it! The woman who helped us was absolutely the most courteous person we've ever encountered at the coast. She was friendly and not in the disingenuously fake kind of friendly that you typically encounter. I felt like she genuinely wanted to make sure I was ordering exactly what I wanted. Sable got a fresh spinach wrap with literally every vegetable that she was able to select on the menu. "Life Changing" was her description. And trust me.. she's a vegan... it's not something I hear from her when it comes to food. She loved it so much that we HAD to go back to get "one for the road!". I snagged some chicken flautas and jo-jo's for good measure. The food was not only perfectly cooked, it was freshly pulled from the fryer or just kept at the perfect hold temperature.. I honestly couldn't tell which.. I just knew it was perfect. We were able to pay right at the deli which made the transaction quick, easy and enjoyable! This is a local grocery and stays open much later than all of the shops/restaurants in the vicinity. Checked in late, so needed a few items to stock the room. The next day, I came back with my girlfriend for, "lady items" and asked the cashier for a sunglass kit & tools. At first, he stated, they were all out. So we cashed out and walked to exit the store. About a block into our departure I hear a loud "SIR! SIR!" I turn and to my surprise was the cashier flagging me down letting me know the manager had brought some from the back. Visiting here on vacation, we were warned in advance - if you need groceries, better stop in Tillamook because there aren't any big grocery stores in Cannon Beach. When we started running low on supplies, I was DELIGHTED to find this store!! Small and quaint, BIG variety considering the small size (this IS a touristy town with convenience store prices - paying for CONVENIENCE, Tillamook is quite a drive away, lol) and we got everything we needed! Organic coffee beans freshly ground to espresso, scratch offs, unsweetened almond milk, peanut oil and hot chocolate. Random list and they had it all! Convenient store in the middle of downtown cannon beach that has a rather large grocery section for a little market. The staff is nice and I can seem to always find what I'm looking for, plus more which seems to get me in trouble :) The only downfall, like most beach stores, is the prices are kind of high. I would have to give Mariner Market a solid three stars. No better, no worse. They earned every molecule of all three of those stars. If you're staying in Cannon Beach, Mariner Market is a big deal. Unless you want to venture out to Seaside to stop at the Safeway, Mariner Market is the best you're gonna get when it comes to groceries and other little odds and ends you might need during your stay. Prices definitely are nothing to rave about. Selection? Not the best. But when you get that craving for some beach comfort food such as chips, cookies and cheesy crackers, they've got you covered. Most beach towns have two spheres that seldom interact -- that of the locals who live there for the entire summer if not year round, and the tourists. Mariner Market definitely falls into the locals sphere. If you do not want to drive into nearby Seaside for the big chain stores, but prefer to shop on foot or by bike, this is the only action in town, which is one of Oregon's oldest beach towns and the one nearest to Portland. It is an upretentious roadside market with a full stock of basic needs for residents, including Portland newspapers, and not much else. Friendly staff on first name basis with the regular customers. You won't find a Safeway or the big chain grocery store in Cannon Beach, but the Mariner Market does have a good selection of groceries and other personal items. We were able to easily find what we needed when we were here. They pack this place to the top, which also means don't bring your kids in here unless you can watch them (and make sure they don't pull everything off the shelves!). This place is definitely NOT stroller friendly. There were only a few aisles that I could navigate around - but I guess for better or for worse, the candy aisle was not one of them. The prices here are reasonable. I don't feel like prices that were ridiculous for the groceries we purchased here and we were able to get what we needed that we hadn't been able to pick up at Costco on the way (or we didn't need the huge quantities that Costco carries). In fact, I wish we had picked up more things here than we had at Costco. The staff here are perfectly nice. Checkout was quick and efficient. Tons of parking in the lot too. read more

Mariner Market is awesome! It has everything you need, when you need it. Every time I come to visit Cannon Beach, I can always count on picking up my favorite goodies, and things I may have forgotten or needed while on vacation - Coca Cola Haribo's, Butter Pecan Icecream, Hairbrushes, Nail polish remover, instant coffee packets, a wide array of international chocolates, and a huuuge wine selection! Not to mention the deli sandwiches are delicious and all the salsas and soups are homemade from scratch. They are a family owned business and from getting to know them and their staff, I've found them to be extremely welcoming and helpful. If you can't find something, definitely ask - they have a little something for everyone in every nook and cranny of this little shop! read more

I have lived and worked in Cannon Beach for a while and honestly avoided Mariner Market at all costs. Being that Cannon Beach is small and doesn't allow chain businesses, means the grocery selection is very limited. I suppose at one time Mariner Market could have been a good attempt at providing Cannon Beach with a much needed "market", but I believe the owners are just in it for the money or simply do not know how to run a market. The prices are also quite outrageous. I can definitely understand most items being more expensive than at the average grocery store from being in a very small and seasonal town, but I believe they have crossed that line by far. Regardless, they have been very shady in the past and current. Items from other stores were repackaged and sold, which I am pretty sure is not legal, and was not done very discreetly. Literally all of my visits here found products past their expiration date still on the shelves and in the refrigerators and the produce was not really ever the most fresh. I would also strongly suggest staying away from any of the hot foods as many of my fellow local residents and guests stated it made them sick or was simply awful. This sent me to the nearest national market of sorts, Safeway in Seaside, just 8 miles North, which did the job just fine and saves myself and my roommates money. If one just needs something quick, Theresa's Family Market, a little further South in "Midtown" Cannon Beach despite being mostly convenience store-like, carried lots of items that could be used for baking and cooking. Of course the prices are a bit higher than you would find at Safeway, but if you just need one or a few quick items it could be more convenient or cost effective than driving to Seaside, although, either option is not truly horrible. If you are still searching for the the quaint atmosphere that Mariner Market provides many people comment on a similar small market in Manzanita. read more

Really looks like they haven't done anything to spruce it up in a long while; run down and ramshackle It looks like it doesn't fit in to the Canon Beach atmosphere cause Canon Beach sorta has an artsy Carmel feel. The real estate prices are on par with Carmel as well. And guess what? they still charged me $8.50 for a week old N.Y. times. Well, I guess if you are the only game in town, why should they care. I did get a chuckle when one bench on their porch read "DEMOCRATS" and the other "REPUBLICANS".
