    Guns guns guns
    Matt E.

Holy. Crap. This place scares the piss out of me. Let's not bury the lead: guns. Lots and lots of guns. Not even in a case, but rather in literal piles on a counter. Handguns, shotguns, rifles, even some that looked downright military, all just in a heap alongside loose ammo and easily accessible by virtually anybody. True, they may be behind a counter, but there's no barrier from walking up to them, especially considering no employees were to be found. I can't even imagine the NRA thinking this is at all acceptable. Other lowlights? Man, where to start. The rest of the retail section resembles an unholy union between a Everything's $1.00 store and a Goodwill, with little rhyme or reason to the weird offerings on display. They sell blank VHS tapes, you guys. Blank VHS tapes. Oh, and expired cough drops. How long does it take for cough drops to expire??? Oh, there's a back room, presumably some sort of coffee stop. I didn't go in, because the entrance was below a sign that says "The Revolution Has Begun" and it was full of angry looking men wearing plaid in a decidedly non-lumbersexual manner. I'm not sure what revolution they might be planning, but I don't think it's one that I'll enjoy. Man, sometimes you just really need to stop for gas. But honestly, running out of gas in the middle of the woods is only barely an inferior option.

This place gets cooler every time I stop by. There is so many hidden treasures to find in this place that it will take a while to find them all. Most of ones hunting and fishing needs can be found here. They do have a wide variety of ammo behind the counter, which I find oddly intriguing. I normally stop in to browse around and pick up an ice tea on my way back from the beach. I will have to agree with Beth H about the restroom. For a guy it isn't too bad because you can use it standing up, but for a women, well lets say I don't think they will like it. Don't know about having to purchase something before using the bathroom or not because I already had sealed ice tea in hand before I asked to use their bathroom key, which I may add is on a wheel hub (very cool in my book). I left my ice tea on the counter and went to use the restroom. It is interesting. On the way out, checkout the door with the two door knobs on each side. Not sure which side the door opens on but it is interesting to look at and ponder. A door knob on the left and right hand side of the door. I wonder if it opens both ways or is something out of "Get Smart". Just saying. One has to stop and experience this hidden jewel in the ruff, and I do mean in the ruff.

I've been told there is a place to shoot guns there. Is this in this area?

There is a new gun range just over the hill!!

Unfortunately I do not have a lot of choices where to shop because Rite Aid has a lock on Medicare covered prescriptions in this town. Consider me as being a disgruntled customer that wishes I had more shopping options than having no choice but to shop at this store. The Seaside Rite Aid pharmacist informed me that according to their computer, the Advair disc I needed was in stock in Warrenton and I drove 36 miles round trip to that Rite Aid location only to learn they don't stock it and never have, as it is special order only! Hopefully a company like Amazon will get into the pharmacy business as they know who the customer is and how to give prompt service. Maybe Rite Aid should reconsider their business model as what is offered does not work! I expected more from a national company and look forward to the day that this store closes when some other pharmacy opens and delivers service with a good attitude.

However, the owners seriously need to reevaluate their pricing strategy. I was utterly shocked when I stopped in to buy a gallon of milk for an outrageous $6.00. Typically, milk is around $3.00 per gallon in any grocery store, and I noticed this store carries the same brand that Costco sells for $3.98 for two gallons. This pricing is unacceptable, and even a staff member expressed disbelief at the cost. I told them $6.00 is too expensive and speculated that the owners must be throwing away a lot of milk since no one in their right mind would pay that price. Unfortunately, you've just lost a longtime customer who has spent considerable money at your store for the sake of convenience. Moving forward, that convenience isn't worth the excessive prices you're charging. You need to do better, especially since your primary clientele consists of local customers. If you priced items more fairly, considering the needs of your community, you'd likely see an increase in business. Greed does not reflect well on a local business. Until your prices align with the value of what you're selling, I won't be back for any convenience items.
