Guys! If you want to know if this gas station is worth it! Now my REVIEW is the best one to read! I'll give an honest review and as you can see I gave out 5 stars! There may have been a few out there who gave less, but for me this gas station is a TOTAL LIFE SAVER! We almost ran out of gas and then God showed us this place!!!Yea the place looks like it needs a few renovations, but HEY! The people who works there are phenomenal! I don't care what others say. Some people say its scary, it used to be a gun shop, blah blah yada yada yada! "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!" Great people! Great service! My wife bought a bunch of items in order to use the restroom to pee, just to be told it was broken. It was an emergency. The building and signage looks horrible. Someone could take a dump in the parking lot and it would improve this place's vibe. Never returning, won't recommend. read more

This gas station is so old school and cool. I feel like it's out of a movie. They sell a mix of stuff here too like firewood for beach bonfires, sleeping bags, blankets, guns and adorable handmade (I'm assuming locally) crochet animals. I always stop and get one on the way to the coast. read more

Curiosity did not kill this cat, nonetheless the stress entering in felt like a Ripley's / haunted house. Though there is nothing around, you lock your car. VHS tapes for sale? Rambo knives? An arsenal wall ready for Red Dawn. The snacks are antique, like expired. It is amazing how this was once chosen as a movie filming site. Thousands of aluminum cans bagged outside so at least they are good stewards of recycling. read more

Holy. Crap. This place scares the piss out of me. Let's not bury the lead: guns. Lots and lots of guns. Not even in a case, but rather in literal piles on a counter. Handguns, shotguns, rifles, even some that looked downright military, all just in a heap alongside loose ammo and easily accessible by virtually anybody. True, they may be behind a counter, but there's no barrier from walking up to them, especially considering no employees were to be found. I can't even imagine the NRA thinking this is at all acceptable. Other lowlights? Man, where to start. The rest of the retail section resembles an unholy union between a Everything's $1.00 store and a Goodwill, with little rhyme or reason to the weird offerings on display. They sell blank VHS tapes, you guys. Blank VHS tapes. Oh, and expired cough drops. How long does it take for cough drops to expire??? Oh, there's a back room, presumably some sort of coffee stop. I didn't go in, because the entrance was below a sign that says "The Revolution Has Begun" and it was full of angry looking men wearing plaid in a decidedly non-lumbersexual manner. I'm not sure what revolution they might be planning, but I don't think it's one that I'll enjoy. Man, sometimes you just really need to stop for gas. This place gets cooler every time I stop by. There is so many hidden treasures to find in this place that it will take a while to find them all. Most of ones hunting and fishing needs can be found here. They do have a wide variety of ammo behind the counter, which I find oddly intriguing. I normally stop in to browse around and pick up an ice tea on my way back from the beach. I will have to agree with Beth H about the restroom. For a guy it isn't too bad because you can use it standing up, but for a women, well lets say I don't think they will like it. Don't know about having to purchase something before using the bathroom or not because I already had sealed ice tea in hand before I asked to use their bathroom key, which I may add is on a wheel hub (very cool in my book). I left my ice tea on the counter and went to use the restroom. It is interesting. On the way out, checkout the door with the two door knobs on each side. Not sure which side the door opens on but it is interesting to look at and ponder. A door knob on the left and right hand side of the door. I wonder if it opens both ways or is something out of "Get Smart". Just saying. One has to stop and experience this hidden jewel in the ruff, and I do mean in the ruff. read more

Wow. This year I hopped in my car and drove 8000 miles to Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas....and the Hamlet Quick Stop made 'south of the Dixie line' pale in comparison. The inside looks like a "Flea Market" threw up on the right side of the establishment, and looks like a survivalist supply store on the left side. Oh, yeah.....you can get a 'Rock Star' and some twinkies -- but you can also get gun cleaning oil (I found it with the Gillette After-Shave), and a gun made for killing elephants. This Quaker girl just has to take her husband's word for what some of that @%$ was. They have guns and knives like I have never seen before. I think they even had nun-chucks. I was just thankful they have a kind of divider in the middle of the store so that I could be by myself for half of the event. It is the kind of place that is like a train wreck.....you just have to look, but don't want them staring you down while you look....if that makes sense. Lets just say that my husband finally agreed with me. He really should have 'dressed down' for the excursion. Echo brand black shiny shoes and North Face is not the way to blend in at the Hamlet Quick Stop. No messed up hair day for him could have ever come close to the hair that walked through the door of this place. I have my "cemetery overhauling gear" (mucky shoes, jacket suitable for a barn) in the trunk so I was set....but my husband? was not. Oh, my favorite? We took photos out front for you! and we were out there so long? that they came out to investigate. I was already hitting the gas pedal of my Hyundai Elantra with my "FindAGrave.com" bumper sticker otherwise I might have been a little worried. Yeah, a Quaker and the Hamlet Quick Stop just really don't mix. My husband now has a rule. He must at least bring with some "dress down" clothes when I am behind the wheel -- which is often since we only have one car and its mine. : ) Overall? It is easy to get to, lots of parking, can get gas, coffee, I guess. But, I would just wait til you get to Seaside, OR or Nehalem, OR if I were you. Or go! If you want the experience. Do NOT STOP here! Especially If you are a Person of Color! This is the scariest market/gun shop/cafe we have ever been to! The place is littered with guns, knives & axes. We just wanted to buy a coke for the drive home, but they refused to serve us. They literally ignored us. As soon as the white family rolled up to buy gas, they went right out to help them. As soon as we realized that they were not going to take our money, the energy shifted and we got the hell out. Worst feeling ever. read more

Great service. reading a lot of reviews that say "It's scary". HAHA~!!! Why don't you just stay in Portland, then? Don't write a review because you stopped at a store and don't like the things that a store sells. The gas is more expensive, yeah. You're at a convenience store that sells gas. No one forces you to pay the prices. If you are about to run out of gas, well, poor planning on you. I have never seen disrespect come from any of the workers here UNLESS you are being disrespectful yourselves. Overall great service. I would say the other reviews are mostly representative for the parts of the store I saw. I did get a cup of coffee late one night when getting sleepy on the two lane, and the kids got some snacks. Excellent "Old School" convenience store where you can get snacks, gasoline, candy, beer and also guns and ammunition. Sitting on the HWY-26 between Portland and Seaside, it is enlivening the long drive through the forest. read more

So sketchy. Old fashioned gas pumps and gas that's easily $0.50 higher than ANYWHERE else on the west side of Oregon. Creepy service, a back room full of locals who look like they just walked out of the woods. Random stuff in the store ranging from jerkey to nudie magazines and pin-up calendars to $0.99 used books (what?!). Seriously, only stop here if you're literally on "E" (which I was). If you can make it the 15 miles west to Seaside, do that. If you're going east, keep on going, there's better places to fill up and get snacks. read more

We locals love the Hamlet Quick Stop! Ludik is a very gracious owner. If you need milk, beer, a loaf of bread and yes a gun you can find it here along with gas and diesel. Yes it does cost more than in town but instead of having to drive 20 miles for saw gas or lawn mower gas or if you need it for your car so you don't have to walk along hwy 26 or 53 it's well worth it. The locals love to have what we call Beer 30 there and can pretty much be your self. That means wear what ever you want pretty much. Ok, yea it s a gas station, yea its a flea market, yea its a used gun store, and yea its a quick mart... But you know what is really cool about this place? This was the very pit stop when the FBI agent in "kindergarten Cop" was sick and Arnold pulled over so she could use the restroom. The clerk gave her a bathroom key attached to a hupcap.... Hahaha! Well guest what? I stopped to use the restroom and I was given that exact key!!! That is worth the trip right there! I did look over the used and new offerings. I did get some chex mix and a soda. The gas was a bit steep and I could make it home so I passed on the gas. The clerk really did not speak, kind of a strange guy. Several folks said hi, he only nodded. Man of few words. He looks kind of entrapped behind the counter with so much stuff around him. They could clean this up a bit, hide the nudie mags and organize the guns and used stuff better. A couple of days some fresh paint, and this could be a great little store. It is in a great location. read more

Awful experience. DIESEL IN MY CAR Deserves zero stars for how this business handled the situation. I called them told the women who answered the phone what happened she said hes not gonna pay for all of you. (Suggesting there are others like me whos vehicles were damaged; id love to find you and discuss this if so) Then handed the phone off to the owner. Stated he saw the mistake and would take care of my damages. A week later he said that his mechanic siad my car wouldnt of made it the distance before BREAKDOWN. Calling me a liar. Decided to check this place out because of the reviews. Did not disappoint. This place is your ace in the hole. If you need it they got it. Maybe need to lower your standards for a few things, but they have it. Probably even have an alibi if you so need one. Came here for gas and coffee originally, on our way back from seaside...Coffee bar in the back was a little to sketch for my wife and I, even though we knew what were were getting into... but hit the jackpot with everything else... we Ended up leaving with 1200 mg of black rifle coffees, a couple pickled sausages, a camo buck knife, a muffin, an AR-15, a banana, a drum of .50 belt fed machine gun ammo, and a scratch ticket. They even pumped our gas. Probably some unnecessary impulse buying there as I'm not sure how we will be getting home now as they don't allow a few of those things on the flight. DON'T STOP HERE! We stopped here as a pit stop on the way to Seaside from Portland. We simply wanted to use the restroom and get some coffee. Well....they require that you purchase something before you can have the key to the restroom. Believe me, you will be sorry you paid a dime to visit this restroom. The toilet sit is pitted and in no way can be clean. The entire (super small) restroom smells of urine and there is a puddle of something on the floor. The graffitti didn't bother me, but the revolving (dirty) towel and no toilet seat covers or soap did bother me. It was disgusting and I am even more disgusted that I PAID to use it! read more

This place literally has everything, lol. I mean you can grab some beer, cigs, a gun, and snacks... oh and gas. As far as convenience goes, it's super convinent to have such a big selection of things all in one place. One funny thing is that there's a coffee shop in the back where locals go to and sit/chat. It's a bit much for me because there's a lot of older country looking folk, but hey it's nice that they have a local hang out where they can relax I guess. I met the owner too, he's a really nice guy. Over all the place is a pretty cool and an interesting hole in the wall. I think the reviewer Lesley R. is a bit more intense with her review than needed. Some people don't realize that this place was featured in the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Kindergarden Cop". The hilarious "gag" from the movie was one of the actors getting the bathroom key on the hubcap on it. I'm sure this place gets hundreds of customers every year just to use the restroom. read more

First visit and won't be the last! During a group motorcycle ride from Portland to Tillamook we took HWY 53 to reach HWY 26 and this store was at the corner. Large parking lot invited a nice resting point. I was totally impressed to see that there are loggers still working in Oregon as many trucks stopped in and guys that looked liked they put in an honest weeks worth of work in a day headed into store to buy some liquid refreshment. I noticed a Team Glock banner and thought it was odd that a store in middle of nowhere would possibly have new Glocks for sale. I walked into the store and the picture doesn't do justice to the variety of guns that are for sale here. This would be a one stop shop if you forgot all your hunting gear. The employees and people I encountered were very kind. The gas prices were a little high but everyone talks about supporting local businesses when you can so stop in someday and support this one. read more

It is doubtful that you will ever find a more interesting convenient store/gas station!! There was a collection of hot foods (mostly fried), some prepared cold salads and sandwiches but also fresh fruits and veggies. It also serves as a flea market with guns,ammo, and hunting/fishing supplies. Many locals gathered indoors surrounded by big screen TVs, to converse and enjoy beverages. In the middle of nowhere on winding mountain roads, I was happy to have found this place so I could use a restroom. We spent a lot of time looking around the retail area and had a great time chatting with locals in the beer garden :)) read more
