Me and my fiancé lived in a bottom apartment 1 bed 1 bath for 13 and a half months, I would recommend for anyone considering this place to please DO NOT LEASE TO THEM, Mariners Glen Apartments make it their mission to make you pay for new renovations on the apartment when you aren't even responsible, we had mold multiple times by the windows and they charged us for the cleaning, pantry doors window shades fall off all the time, and the maintenance just put a couple nails back in it only for it to fall off the next day, walls and floors are thin appliances are cheap and old, they charge monthly for pets which goes towards the cleaning but they'll just take your deposits anyway even if you leave it spotless, I think the workers are great people but the owners of Mariners Glen Apartments are SCAM ARTISTS, do not rent here, absolutely disgusting apartment complex. 0/10 read more

Decent place to live. Not as nice as we expected but not as bad as other reviews made it sound. Close to main road with lots of shopping, Safeway, Walmart, Gas Stations, fast food and local restaurants. Good distance from Kitsap Naval Base, Silverdale and Gig Harbor. A nice forest atmosphere. Our deck looked over the woods with a nice pond, felt very private. Very dog friendly. There is a nice sized fenced-in dog park on the property and the public park across the street with walking tails and fields. The complex says no "aggressive" breeds but we saw a lot of people with pitbulls and German Shepard's. People don't pick up after there dogs and there is usually trash everywhere on the grounds. Dumpsters are always overloaded. We had black mold on our toilet when we moved in but once found, maintenance came right away to take care of it. We didn't have an issue again until the winter time since we had the windows closed but again maintenance came right away to fix it. The grounds keepers were great and friendly! Poor amenities. Gym is super small. A couple of machines and treadmills but no free weights or room for other exercises. There are two pools, One indoors and one outdoors. They are closed whenever the office is closed which is pretty frequently. Any major holiday (memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day) when normal people would have the day off and want to use the pool, you can't. Most neighbors kept to themselves. There was one nosey older lady who sat and watched people from her parking spot and would get mad if your car was too loud. We had 3 different neighbors across the hall in the time we lived here and all were great expect the last couple who were constantly fighting/yelling as well as smoking pot which would blow into our apartment since the windows were next to each other. No A/C so windows open is a must. Walls are super thin. We could hear our neighbor downstairs snoring at night and others neighbors what they were watching on TV or banging around in their kitchen. Mine was in poor condition, Plagued with mold in every room of the apartment. Dining room. Living room. Bathroom. Bedroom. Termites in the building. Termite dust in the apartment. When your washer and dryer combo breaks down they will replace it with an older version. Every precaution was followed with proper heating and cooling to prevent molding. I wouldn't recommend anyone entertains moving into this apartment complex. Of all the places I have lived, these people are the most nosy and pushy people I've ever rented from. They nit-pick at everything you do and add and try to enforce new rules whenever someone gets the idea into their head. There is no central air flow in their units, and mold is very real here. It is a constant battle to keep it at bay. The windows are old and outdated. Should've been replaced years and years ago, and let all sorts of moisture into the house and do nothing to keep the cold/heat out during the day/night in the winter/summer. The units are small and nothing like what is advertised, maintenance is shotty at best, and after paying a fat wad of cash every month for sub-standard living they'll skimp you on the quality of work to maintain your unit when something goes wrong (like a thermostat failing, fridge breaking, oven not working, or water heater failure). Just recently they added a non-smoking policy to the complex. I, personally am not a smoker and never have been, but to suddenly tell all the residents who do smoke, and do so outside of their units, that now that have to go outside of the complex grounds completely is asinine. And now we are not allowed to back into our parking spots because it is "dangerous". Their dumpsters are tiny and fill up once every other day, and then sit overflowing for multiple days before they are emptied, and multiple times they have "put the trash on hold" telling the residents to not throw anything away in the dumpsters because they are overflowing..... so we should keep our trash in our house and let it stack up? I have multiple neighboring residents all moving away because they've been living here for 5+ years and now to resign their lease, their rent is going to drastically increase from the already inflated and over priced monthly fee. But do their apartments get updated? A/C? Forced Air Flow systems? Replaced windows so that the house doesn't constantly have mold and moisture running rampant? No. They just get to pay more money to deal with the same old bunk. That's a simple example of the chicanery that takes place at this apartment complex on a regular basis. read more

first month here, I kept smelling dank mold. I found thick black mold under and behind the toilet and informed management who did not even bother to respond to my email!! Used lots of bleach, and eventually all around the windows became moldy. They mask it when you first move in, but it's bad! When I moved, there was black mold on walls behind my belongings and on everything against the wall. They refused to reimburse me for boxes of items ruined by black mold. In fact, they charged me extra to breathe their mold! You have to pay what they say you owe on their online portal, which did not work. They were aware and still charged late fees and fees to accept a check and fees for whatever they can dream up. Example of maintenance: had water standing water in my bath and kitchen. Maintenance came and determined it was from an overflowed toilet upstairs that ran down walls and seeped in my unit! The fix was to mop it up (did NOT use any sanitizer!!) and left a box fan they said to run nonstop for 4 days, at my expense!! If that's not bad enough, I could hear every move of the tenants above me at all times! And my car and mailbox were vandalized. Office staff is rude and this place is a moldy money trap. Super disgusting and unhealthy! If you care about your health and pocketbook, avoid this place at all cost! Don't believe any 5 star ratings- no way those could be real renters! I don't know about other tenants and their issues. I've been living here for at least 5 years. Amenities are great, the office staff is always nice and courteous. When I have problems, the maintenance staffs are always on top of it. The apartment complex I lived in is not the most newer model so I have issues with some but the staff are always helping me and not leaving me hanging. My mother just had a brain surgery and when I was talking to my mother one day, my mom just stopped responding. From work (gig harbor) I called the leasing office to see if they can check on my mom and I will be calling 911 and I don't want them to break my door and no questions asked they did and didn't take them long. After 5 minutes they called me to let me know my mother is fine. Who would do that? I don't think any apartment complex will be considerate to do it for one of their tenants. I appreciate all the staff and crew of this apartment complex. They're not perfect and they were there when I needed them the most no questions asked. I have lived here since 1998 and despite the continually rising cost of rent, I consider this apartment complex to be a good value and safe place to call home. The management responds to maintenance requests promptly and act on complaints about noisy, inconsiderate neighbors. Most of the residents I have encountered in this community have been decent people, but as in any other apartment complex there will be the occasional obnoxious person. Fortunately, they tend to move along when asked by management to comply with the rules. I applaud the new no-smoking rule, as it prioritizes the health of their non-smoking tenants over catering to the nicotine addicts who lower the quality of life for everyone in the community. We just moved out last month, after living here for 3 years. We seemed to have gotten our entire refundable deposit back minus $70 to clean the carpets. I was not expecting to get anything back based on other reviews about the move out process, so that was a nice surprise. Primary reason why we moved: Our rent went up over $300 in 3 years. $300!!! I understand rent prices are going up everywhere, but this past year we were paying $1026 for a tiny, outdated ONE bedroom apartment. Considering this is Port Orchard, that is ridiculous (by contrast - we now have a gorgeous, newly updated 2 bedroom apartment with twice the square footage in Univeristy Place for the exact same price). ***CONS: Maintenance became a complete joke. Our dishwasher was always broken; they tried fixing it at least 3 times to no avail. Our front door was also a problem the entire time we lived there. The door did not line up properly with the frame, which resulted in this issue: the only way to get it to lock from the outside would be to spend several minutes repeatedly shutting the door very quickly and yanking it toward you as far as you possibly could with one hand, while using the key in the other. Do you know how difficult that feat is when it's 6am and you're trying to juggle coffee and a bunch of other items and also not wake up your neighbors? Their solution was to give us new locks. Not even remotely the issue here. We stopped calling about maintenance problems because even though they did come to check it out, nothing ever got fixed. Two words: Hot water. For some reason, this was not an issue when we first moved in but it certainly was for the second half of our stay. The hot water in the shower would stop after less than 10 minutes and then continue to only be luke warm for several hours afterward. Forget about filling up the bathtub because only 1/4 of it would actually be hot or warm water. The windows were very poorly insulated, which is undoubtedly the reason why they have such a big mold problem. From October through April, if I held my hand up next to the CLOSED window, I would be able to feel a cold breeze coming through. Obviously something that needs to be addressed. The decks need to be completely re-done. They "repainted" these the first year we moved in but they just spray painted over the chipping paint and it honestly didn't look any different afterward. The wood was so saturated with old mold/mildew that it was turning green. Nails were exposed, the wood was chipping horribly along with the paint, and it was overall just not at all a deck that you could sit out on and enjoy. The quality of office staff went downhill quite a bit. When we first moved in, they were very nice, helpful, and friendly. We would get a phone call when a package arrived in the office, there were no problems, etc. Now there are a few staff members who are very rude and constantly look annoyed. They temporarily lost at least 3 packages over the last year and a half. One was lost in their office was almost two weeks. My UPS tracking specifically said they signed for it but they all but called me a liar and acted like I was crazy for saying they had it. I went in there every few days to no avail. I finally got a phone call that they had found it - one of the girls put it under the wrong name on the little log they keep of incoming packages. I never got an apology, just a voicemail telling me to come get it. Very nice. Similar things happened several more times. ***PROS: -They updated some appliances a year or two ago. We got a new fridge (which was sorely needed) and a new washer (although I hated the new one). -Very large storage areas on patios/decks. -Large bathrooms with long counters. -Pretty landscaping/scenery (although this is a hit or miss. There was never any landscaping in front of our building and it was ugly as a result, but driving or walking through the complex is pretty). -It's a great location. Quiet, set back from the road, private. Across the street from a park. Good distance to everything in town. -Neighbors were good, with one very notable exception but luckily he didn't stay too long. Conclusion: The first year I would have given 4 or 5 stars. This last year and a half, a solid 2. It's obviously not the worst complex in town by a long shot, but I also would no longer recommend this place to a friend unless they couldn't find anything else. Horrible experience. We applied for an apartment, having discussed rent before. After our application was submitted and deposit down they changed the rent price, increased by $100. When we to cancel they refused to give us our deposit back because 24 hours had passed after our application but we didn't even receive the contract until 32 hours after our application was approved. Hence we couldn't cancel knowing they upped the rent price within their 24 hours period. They failed on their own agreement. After multiple calls to various managers they still refused to regains our deposit even though they were the ones in violation. I've lived here for almost two years. My husband picked this complex because the rent was great and we got a lot of square footage. Pulling up things around the complex look nice. Living here is a different story. The apartments have cheap carpet, laminate flooring, cheap plastic blinds, and no matter what you do the cold air gets in the poorly sealed windows & doors. My husband was told we got an "ungraded" apartment which apparently means new door handles, light fixtures, and painting to fix problems. If you need any maintenance done be ready to wait at least 5 days for anyone to help you. Amenities are closed a lot due to some kind of problem. And somehow these are just reasons for luxury apartment prices; my one bedroom one bathroom 648 sqft apartment is going to be going for just under $1,000...not including any utilities. Those are an extra charge. I am very happy to be getting out of these apartments! As for the people who live in the complex....be ready for slamming doors, yelling, cigarette smoke/smell, people thinking your car is a bench, fighting over parking spots, and revving engines for hours. read more

Dont let them fool you into moving here. I was shown an updated remodeled unit that they show everyone and was told my unit was just like it...it wasnt. These units are all old, almost 30 years. Crappy floors, crappy counter tops, old appliances, old fixtures. The pool and hot tub almost never work. They want an extra 35 bucks a month for use of the fitness room...for that I could get a membership at the "Y" and have all that they offer. The moisture and mold are appearant everywhere. I am paying $1087.00 a month for a one bedroom now and the new MARKET RATE just went up to $1200.00 a month. This place is not worth market rate, as market rate is for newer upgraded units. I just found a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath house in a private gated community thats less than 10 years old for less than $1000.00 a month. The staff is ok until you bring up all thats wrong with this place. I have a fireplace that I cant use for the remainder of my lease because they arent cleaning them yet. We arent allowed to back into parking spaces because its dangerous...? This place sucks pretty bad as it is...throw in the high prices and immenities that dont work most of the time and it really SUCKS! I wish I had never moved into this place. Although this is an older apartment community, the staff does a great job taking care of anything that is needed. Amenities are always available. Staff is great in notifying the community of general maintenance well in advance whenever possible to avoid disappointments. If you are not looking for the latest and greatest, then this is the place...clean, comfortable and one can't beat being surrounded by nature. read more

I have lived here two and a half years with my mom (who is getting older). I have seen no crime and the grounds are always kept clean. The staff is professional and courteous. One thing that sets them apart (at least in my mind) is the little things they do that they aren't forced to do. They have an Easter Egg Hunt which my (now eight year old) daughter loves every year. They have a small Christmas Party for all residents. They even pool together for an all encompassing garage sale. When I have my daughter over, she loves the indoor pool when the weather isn't quite right and the outdoor pool when it is open. This community has class. read more

The place was constantly full of mold. I lost several valuable possessions that were ruined by the mold. The refrigerator leaked constantly. Maintenance came out to fix it several times before they decided to replace it. When my lease was about to expire, I received 3 notices with 3 different lease end dates. They never returned my deposit. I just checked my credit report after noticing my score dropped significantly. Apparently, the management sent some bill to collections. I have lived here for about 6 months and have noticed that management is the most controlling I have ever experienced. They try to control everything you do. They don't allow Christmas decorations. Windows are awful nd cause mold to develop everywhere. They have poor organization. One employee says something and doesn't communicate with the rest. The apartment cannot keep heat in. My roomates car was stolen straight out of the drive way. The apartments are infested with crime and nothing is done to stop it.over all these were the worst apartments I have ever lived in. Disgusting!!! Infested!!! Incompetent management!!! Called the cops several times!!! They hate military tenants!!! The entire place is dirty. The apartments are falling apart. The whole place is infested with spiders, roaches, and rats. I had to call the police 3 times because drug dealers were making deals with nasty people in the visitor parking and in my parking space. It is unsafe. Also, do not believe a word management says. They never follow through with anything they say. I was required to pay the full extent of my lease even though I moved out on orders and gave them ample notice. They said they don't care about military orders and treated us like second rate citizens. I would have to get a lawyer to fight the charges. The place is a SLUM! Don't let them fool you. Nothing ever works including the pool, spa, gym, and sauna which were all closed 95% of the year I was living there. 1. When our washing machine broke, they replaced it with an older one... then that one broke. Spent every other month using the laundromat. 2. Our water heater caught on fire and almost killed us because it was old and needed to be replaced which they did after the fire. NO FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!! 3. The water comes out brown. 4. Drawers were broken. They refused to replace them. They tried replacing the wheel on the track once then never responded to work orders again. 5. Laminate counters were peeling off and had old cigarette burns. Burns on all surfaces. 6. People above us let their dog urinate and defecate on the balcony which ran down onto our patio and walls. 7. People revving engines at all hours. 8. Loud parties and slamming doors all night. 9. A tree fell down into the side of our apartment and landed behind our apartment. Took them several days to remove it even though it was dangerous. 10. Little or no insulation causes you to hear every step and conversation of your neighbors. 11. Heaters do not heat the house. It's freezing all winter. 12. Our fire place was clogged with soot which smoked out the house if it was lit. They told us "just don't use it" and "they will clean it 'soon'".....never did. Please take heed and read the reviews. I lived at Mariner's Glen for a little over a year. It is not worth the money they are charging. The appliances are extremely outdated. So are the countertops. Paying $1300 a month for rent, you would hope to live in something nice. Wrong! I've had numerous incidents when crackheads would come knocking on my door at 2 in the morning looking for "Issac". One time a van with about four adults knocked on everyone's door in the wee hours of the morning with bats and crowbars looking for an individual. It is not safe to live there, especially after the big drug bust. The walls are also extremely thin. I could hear my neighbor snoring and coughing at night. The last thing that did it for me was the denial of my security deposit. I don't have kids nor a pet and work 12hrs a day, 6 days at week. I was rarely home. They kept my deposit and charge me an additional $100 claiming there were marks on the ceiling from a candle burning. This was completely false and they failed to show proof but still charge me. I do not recommend moving here. It's not worth the money and you will get cheated in the end. Bad business practices. read more

Do not move here. BLACK MOLD AND RATS! My daughter and her new husband moved here temporarily until they could find a home in Seattle. Black mold began to appear on walls and in closets within a month of them living there. Food in refrigerator would mold within 2 days. Several furnishings had to be disposed of due to spreading mold. The windows are sub-par and window and door seals are not maintained. Units are poorly ventilated. 4 months to go on their 6 month lease. I pray they do not become ill in the mean time. read more

I CAN NOT ENCOURAGE YOU ENOUGH NOT TO MOVE HERE. Let me start with parking. Each person gets one designated spot, the rest is up for grabs. And by that I mean be prepared to park far far away from your actual apartment since there is never parking, and the public parks in there during events because there is nothing stopping them from doing so. This is by far the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Only a month after moving in, I had a man repeatedly looking into my windows in my bottom floor apartment, hanging around my front door and my car and stalking me. I had to get a restraining and trespassing order against him. After talking to police I found out that they get frequent calls about this ( men looking into bottom floor apartments for women/expensive things). This continued to happen over my 1 year lease 4 times with 4 different men. I talked to management several times requesting better lighting in backyards to not attract crime as much, considering there is only lighting in the front and backyards and car awnings are pitch black. During my lease my neighbors car got broken into and things stolen from her. Again, after talking to residents I found out this is a common crime since the complex is in the downtown area and near the skatepark. On top of all of this, our dryer broke and only pumped in cold air. We called and called and called the office to have this fixed, and everyday they told us rudely that a maintenance guy would come fix it... they never did. When we finally got a hold of the owners and let them know our situation, they apologized and had a maintenance guy come over on a weekend (he then huffed and puffed the whole time for having to work a weekend and how much he hated his job.) Maintenance guys only work weekdays from 9-5, so if something breaks on the weekend be prepared go either wait until monday or pay a private handyman, or take a day off work. Management and office workers are rude and act as if anything you call in for is an inconvenience. Demi is the worst, with lead supervisor Bobby in close second considering it is impossible to get ahold of her. Trash and dumpsters are constantly overflowing, no one ever comes around to pick up litter. They nickel and dime you for everything and added $200 to our lease a month with no warning because its hidden in the contract. I have to say, this being my first apartment complex I've ever loved at and now not living there, I miss it very much! It's a beautiful atmosphere. The surrounding trees make it feel like you're in your own little world. A big dog park to ply with your wonderful pets is available. Also, their indoor gym is pretty nice for an apartment complex. Having an indoor and outdoor pool has been very useful for both the hot and colder days. The complex itself was beautiful. I loved how spacious my one bed one bath was! For for a nice little family or just a couple. The bathroom was spectacular and it was very spacious. Had a vanity for women who love to sit and do makeup. Not only was the place beautiful, but to top it off, they had great building managers. My favorite of them all, Melissa and Alicia. Two amazing ladies who were always there to help out and give the correct information when needed. Very reliable service. This is a great place to live whether it's your first or next complex. DO NOT LIVE HERE! These people are absolutley insane-not only that, the apartments are disgusting. We have several stories and we only lived here for a month! The apartments are falsly advertised as "luxury living" when the place is "fixed" extremely cheap....light fixtures are crooked, the disposals clog after a breadcrumb, the floorboards are glued on crooked...very lazy maitenance staff. This stuff can be overlooked depending on your taste, however, nobody should live in a mold hole. Read the reivews-years ago, mold was a problem. New management came in and it is still a problem. We had mold in our walls, and under our carpet. I was sick ever since day one with nausea and headaches which was diagnosed by a doctor as the result of mold inhalation. We called the health department and the better buisness beareau over this dump. We asked Marieners Glen staff to come check out the mold and they refused to see it as an emergencey. We were told that the maitenance staff were understaffed and didn't have time even though I was so sick I was bedridden because of their lies and false advertisement and sleezy, lying staff. They did offer for us to move into a different room because they knew exactly how disgusting and sleezy their apartments really are....but they wouldnt give us a new room at the same price. We left immediatley having to throw out our mattresses, our clothes and our decorative items due to the mold seeping into it all. One of their new staff ladies is extremely rude and told us she was being defensive because we were intense with our complaints. WELL DUH MORON! because you would not fix something that could kill someone! DO NOT MOVE INTO APARTMENT 3338 #101...or any of them for that matter because all of the tenants we talked to had the same issue as us and the same issue with the people in the office who smile and pretend like the situations are okay and the matienance team knows their stuff. (If thats the case, why do I as a 21 year old woman need to fix the sink and the drawers myself???) They awknowledged at first that the mold was all their fault...then in the end said I didn't venhilate it properly. Whatever! I had windows cracked open daily, vaccumed and dusted daily and sanitized daily. What cheap, lying, selfish creatures that work here. Don't buy their smiles and seemingly happy go lucky attitudes-it's all a show so they can sell their illegal crap. They aren't even legal with all their paperwork. They'll try to say anyone writing bad reviews are just people that can't possibly be pleased..that's bull crap because we gave several options for them to work with us in fixing the issues....but when it comes to be so bad I end up bedridden and in a doctors office....it's time to go.
